I never really bothered to peek inside GNC until I started dating my SO. He's a gym junkie, and loves checking out protein powder and all that weird stuff. However, I do have to say that one thing I love about GNCs is that no matter where you go, they are SUPER consistent. Everything is always in the same location, which makes it feel like home all the time. They have a gold member rewards system, where you can get exclusive (ish) prices/email notifications about sales and such! Staff here are always super nice, regardless where you go. I told him this is wrong it's $14.99 the guy argued with me and said No it's coming up at $29.99 I showed him the label and then he says this stuff is old that's why it's so cheap ?!? I don't see why there are so many negative reviews for this particular GNC. This GNC is the LARGEST GNC store in the entire Bay Area, even beats Westfield Mall in San Francisco. It's just the humongous. I like how some people are writing how "Gold Card" or whatever discounts are to ploy you into buying products and make it look/seem cheaper than it isn't, lol. I checked on bodybuilding.com site for supplements and they're at half price than what GNC would normally sell for. There's a tricky selling strategy when it comes to buying one tub of whey protein powder then get one HALF off. There's a reason for that, it's to convince customers to buy the second tub so they can rack on sale when it isn't really a discount. I did my math and research. Nothing against this GNC, it just I don't like being fed with random pills and shakes that won't give me any optimal results and just drain my wallet. The shiet here is always over priced. I went into this place the other day and bought a detox that wasn't really that good. Not to mention that the shakes tasted like POOP in powder form. GAG. The girls working here are severely lacking of brain power, wit and ability to do their job. I walked in on Friday (8/27/10) ready to buy something. Stood there for 15-20 minutes. I understand why this store is poorly rated. When I called GNC to see if they carried 6 or so products the employee said 'ya' to half or so. Fifteen minutes later when I arrived in the store and spoke with the employee from the phone convo. Okay, if you've read my last reviews, you'll understand why I'm rating this place one star. I absolutely HATE it when sales people try to literally shove something in your arm, pull the money out your wallet, and send you on your way. Yeah, all the sales associates are really friendly. Greet you when you come in. The Asian guy was really nice and helpful, but he suggested something that he said would help my shin splints, took the entire bottle (50) over a period of a couple weeks, and it did NOT help my shin splints. The lady who works here, every time I come in, always tries to get me to buy this GNC vitamin pack stuff. Look, I understand the stuff is good, but maybe I don't want that, maybe I wan't SOMETHING else! And then she has this mean look on her face sometimes, it pisses me off, so last time I didn't even buy anything. GNC sucks. Their products are overrated and overpriced. I cant stand this place. I had never shopped at a GNC before. However, I decided to try some all-natural daily vitamins, and thought that this would be a good place to go. The lady at the counter was nice and talked me into one of their women's vita 30day-pack. She told me that I could return it if it didn't work out for a full return. Plus, when I bought the pack she gave my a free Gold Card. It sounded like a good deal and idea at the time. I took 3 days worth of pills and then I was rushed to the ER with heart palpitations. I am not even 25 years old but my heart was racing at 122bpm and they couldn't bring it down. I was at the hospital almost all day trying to pump my system from the over load of vitamins. Even now, my body still has a 90bpm 2 days later and I am on heart medication. I did everything the directions told me to do but this still happened. When I went to return the box of vitamin's the nice and friendly front changed. I paid 39.99+ tax for my box but when I tried to return it, they only wanted to give me back 27.00 and some change. Supposedly the computer did some weird averaging math and wouldn't let the sales associates give me my full money back. I was then put on the phone with the manager. She didn't care that I was in the hospital and didn't care about what the computer was doing. When I told her that I was going to contact the BBB and Weights and Measures, she welcomed it and said "you go right ahead". I was shocked by the lack of empathy and how money hungry they were. And the fact that the manager challenged me to call BBB and W&M is outstanding. Whatever happened to good customer service? GNC is lucky that I am not suing them for my medical bills thanks to their all-natural, balanced vitamin packs. I would never recommend taking any of their supplements to anyone. You wont get your money back if you return it and God forbid if you make it to the ER like I did. And don't let them talk you into the stupid Gold Card. It is just a ploy to get you information and make you think that you are getting a good deal. Funny thing is, I went to Vitamin World right after this all happened. I found a better deal on vitamins for my husband. It was the almost the same thing but better and is was $20 cheaper and the sales associates were so nice. If you want good customer service and better deals, go to Vitamin World; I am now a customer for life to them thanks to GNC's bull- S*^t. read more

I wish I could mark zero or even negative number of stars. All their price tags are wrong. Spent 10 minutes and selected few items ... actual price 5 times what was marked. I was told that tag is for single nars when ypu tear open the box .... and box says nars cannot be sold retail. Lady take a away the tag and tears it. No appologies just a straight face Spent another 10 minures and selected some other items. This time price at counter shpws twice of that marked. I am told tag has expired with no date on it. Again no appologies. Most stores have policies to honor marked price. I understand they are small store ... I was not even expecting them to honor marked price. But can I expect a sorry? First time I got there the 2lb WHEY was 29.90, now they increased the price to 39.90 and introduced a "discount" for the second pack of 50%. Which effectively makes a price 29.93 per single pack, and you have to buy 2. WTF GNC? In Russia raising the price prior to discount is a fraud. read more

They always what I have what I need, easy in and easy out. The workers answer my questions fairly well. I come in for very specific products and am always ready to turn down any sales pitch they might try on me (which is all the time!). Their mark up is pretty absurd, but that's the trade off for being able to get what you need now instead of waiting for it in the mail. read more

Some of the people who work here are decent but this store has one of those annoying salesmen who pretend to be fitness experts and will constantly stand behind you and try to sell you random supps you don't want or need. Then required I personally drove to their store to correct the charge. Never once did they offer compensation for their error. Why does this location have 2.5 stars? It makes no sense!!! This is the only GNC I go to because I absolutely love their service. All of their reviews are from previous years so this place definitely deserves an updated one. It is located next door to Trader Joes which is a plus for most people and it's in a peaceful shopping center. Went it twice first to check out the store then compare prices. I first spoke with this older lady with a heavy accent, not sure if she really knew what she was talking about tho... Later I spoke with another Asian chick who worked there. She seemed super knowledgeable but still prices were a bit high like others have complained but she said that they actually price match and beat other stores by a dollar not much but hey! I went to GNC store 03192 which is located at 39308 Argonaut way, Fremont, CA 94538. I bought a shaker which is displayed at price $8.99+tax at the shelf with all other shakers but when I went to cashier, it came out to be $9.99+tax. I told about this mistake to cashier. I also shown price displayed on shelf to cashier. He gave me a excuse that lot of times, customer put merchandise at wrong place. There were more than 10 shakers which all are displayed at price $8.99+tax but those all are $9.99+tax and I also confirmed same thing which cashier as well. I also told cashier that this is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT but he refused to correct price which is displayed on shelf. I paid for shaker at $9.99+tax which is total of $10.91 and politely ask for cashier name. He told me, his name is Jacob but purchase receipt shows name Alex in consultant section. So, I don't know he gave me his right name or not. I also asked for his manager name and he said her name is Ara. Manager was also standing right behind him and I also confirmed her name as manager and she said Ara. read more
