We took Go Buses roundtrip to Boston. Very easy ride and we actually got to our destination early. Only thing I would improve is the free-wifi, it's really slow making it kind of useless. read more

We have use these company for a while now every time we go to Boston. On Friday we had to wait more than 30 minutes because the bus was running late. Imagine 30 minutes waiting outside in that cold with the kids. For our return to NYC we were late 2 minutes and the driver didn't even stop to open the door, knowing that they had three passengers that have not arrived yet ( because they know that) They left at 5 pm and couldn't even wait at least 5 minutes. They had no other bus after that one until 8 pm, but we will have to pay for the tickets again. We have to wait and not complain when they are 36 minutes late but if we are late they cannot wait, not even 5 minutes. We are really disappointed at this bus company. It used to be on time and you were able to board the bus in bad weather, NOT TODAY! Bus supposed to leave at 2:00 and we are still waiting for the driver at 2:15. We were not able to board the bus and waited out in the rain. Someone knocked on the door and was rudely chased away by the driver. I am appalled at the poor service and I will think twice before taking Gobus again in the future. read more

I booked the GoBus from Newton to New York for a weekend trip with my friend. Although the bus was clean an on time, I was highly disappointed. Not a single outlet worked on the bus. The wifi was spotty at best and the majority of websites were blocked. When I called customer service to request an explanation and a refund, they were rude and unhelpful. They asked absurd questions such as "Did you try every single outlet on the bus?" And informed me that these were only amenities offered but by no means are they guaranteed. They also informed me that their wifi does not permit streaming, and it's only for professional use. What century are we in? Everyone wants to stream videos on their ride. Needless to say, I will never book with them again. Next time I will book with MegaBus or Amtrak instead. Don't waste your money. read more

I'm seriously pissed off. I have been using GoBus on a regular basis for nearly a year, and the Manhattan to VA and vice versa bus has ALWAYS been at the corner of 31st and 8th. I WAS going to take the Thursday 6:30 bus to VA and was early to the usual spot but due to a misunderstanding didn't realize the stop had been moved to 30th and 9th until 6:25. Even though I RAN the whole way, I didn't make the bus, arriving just in time to see it leave. I looked at my ticket more carefully and while it did have the new location on it, it was just there in regular sized print. There was nothing to indicate by the way, we've changed the drop off/pick up location. Kind of a vital piece of information. Since you can't exactly put up a big sign at 31st and 8th saying the drop off /pick up point has been moved to 30th and 9th, you could at the very least make it a big deal on the website/ticket so regulars like me will take notice. Running in 92% humidity is the worst especially when you don't even make it! I am sad to say that Go Buses is going downhill like Bolt Bus did. For my last three trips there has been no toilet paper, and the bathroom wasn't clean. They can also be hit or miss when it comes to hand sanitizer. They run on time, they have wifi, working outlets and most of the time they have water. Great prices. But the bathroom is gross and honestly, I'd rather have a clean, well stocked bathroom than anything else, and yes that includes wifi, lol. read more

The best part about Go Buses is they refund 100% if you need to cancel unlike Mega Bus, Bolt Bus, and others. I use Go Buses from NYC to visit my boyfriend in RI quite consistently and always have a comfortable ride. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! read more

GO BUS! You used to be my favorite bus line to go from NYC to Boston/Botson to NYC. Today I found out I can't use some of my reward points to help pay for my tickets! For example, i had collected 23,300 points from past trips (translates to $23.30). I found a bus I wanted to take for $28.00. In the past I could have used the $23 dollars worth of points to pay for the bus, making it a $5 ride.This was one of the great perks of GO BUS and has now been taken away. A representative explained that I could now only use the points if the bus was under $23 dollars (under the amount of points you have collected). What is worse is, I don't ever remember receiving any notification about this change. I feel like GO BUS is just going to start changing for the worse... Please reinstate the former points procedure! As a student, the bus is a lot cheaper to travel with then the train. Depending on the days and time you could get a ticket for 10 or 30 $ (approximately). Which is really not that bad for what they offer. Pros: Free water (every time I hope) Wifi (although really slow or even non existent at times..) Bathroom (but I've never tried them) Outlets (unlimited game time on phone!) This is specific to me but the final destination is Cambridge when you go to Massachusetts which is a lot closer to my house then the boston north end station! Cons: It's a bus so you are going to hit some traffic along the way, it took me 6 hours once! The bus doesn't stop along the way for dinner so make sure you bring something to eat! You'll regret it if you don't, I know I did .. Besides that it's a bus so just don't expect it to be as nice as the train. But then again it's a lot cheeper. In conclusion if you are on a budget and traveling to a place close to Cambridge from New York do buses is the way to go ! read more

I took this bus from Alexandria, VA to NYC. The bus driver was rude and unprofessional. The ride was scheduled to take 5 hours but it ended up taking more than 7 Hours. Additionally they switched drivers when we were 30 minutes from our final destination which added another 30 minutes to our trip. I would not recommend this service read more

This review is specifically for service between Miami and Key West. We thought it would be a fun day trip, and Go Bus appeared to have favorable reviews compared to other services. The ride to Key West was fine, despite a few minor issues with the bus (I'll address those later). Our return is where we really struggled. The bus arrived a half hour late. I'm told one person in the group waiting had received an email saying the bus would be late, but only a couple people in a group of about 10 or so of us waiting had received any communication. I tried calling customer service to see if they could give us any information as to where the bus was or when it may show up. Evidently there is no way to reach anyone after 6 pm or on weekends - our scheduled departure was at 7:30. We were not given any reason for the delay, though we overheard the driver tell a few ladies that if he was even a minute late the company dictated he only arrive in half-hour intervals. When we made it to Miami, the driver only stopped long enough to allow two people off at our stop and we nearly missed it despite being on our feet, nearing the door just after the first two people got off. While the bus mechanically was fine, there were a few issues. Almost all of the seats that had outlets adjacent to them had been folded up and scrunched together to make room for a cooler. The advertised foot rests did not exist, which is a minor thing, but still annoying. Most troubling, however, is that the onboard bathroom was entirely out of hand sanitizer with no way to wash your hands, on both legs of our trip. The air conditioning was also functioning, and blasted so high that I shivered most of the way there and back- and this is in February, not the midst of summer, with no way to adjust despite the "adjustable" vents overhead. In conclusion, yes we got to each destination safely. However, with the delay on return, lack of communication and issues with the bus, I don't know that we will return or recommend this service. read more

We took GO Bus for the first time this week on Sunday from Washington DC to Midtown NYC, returning Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The bus was clean, there was plenty of room, free water, and wifi both were appreciated on the 4 hour trip. The drivers both going and coming back were friendly, helpful, and very safe! The staff checking in customers were efficient, and polite. We had a very positive experience, and were able to relax and enjoy the trip! Even with the extra holiday traffic on our return trip our driver knew and used express lanes, and we arrived in just over 4 hours. read more

Horrible, terrible customer service. The lady on the phone treated me so rude that I ended up crying in front of everyone. I have never been treated this way. They canceled my ticket without informing me. The lady on the phone yelled at me, and I wonder how this business can last in this country with such a rude human in front of the telephone. I had an easy ride going from NYC to Providence. The bus was clean, boarding was quick, they gave passengers water bottles as we got on, and outlets seemed to work fine. There are so many bus options now between NYC and DC/NoVA and I've used most of them. This is my worst experience so far. I try to avoid multiple stops, especially during rush hour. When I booked this in early Sept., the schedule showed a direct, non-stop, express bus from Alexandria to NYC. However when we got there for the 5pm departure, we were told we'd be stopping at L'Enfant Plaza and Eastern Market. All of us agreed that when we booked, it looked like an Express. I would much rather have taken Metro to Union Station and avoided traffic. So a 5pm departure was, in reality, a 6:30pm departure, with all the ensuing nausea. After the 2 additional stops, the bus was all but full, except for the 2 seats behind the driver, which were taken up with the driver's luggage and a case of water bottles, which were never offered to anyone. My seat mate was an extremely large man, football-player body type. After both of us got up to use the toilet (truly stinky, BTW) I checked out what I thought were empty seats behind the driver, hoping to move and reclaim some personal space. But no, I had to crawl back because 2 of the best seats on the bus were thoughtlessly (?) taken by a backpack and a case of water. Megabus, Vamoose, NY2DC, Bolt are all better options. I booked a trip from Boston to NYC for Friday, November 9th. The staff at the station in Newton were really nice. So my review is not about them. The bus broke down maybe 20 minutes north of White Plains. It was misery. The company had no action plan for these types of situations. The driver wasn't mean but he had no personal skills to manage over 50 people with questions. I have to say the driver was not trained for such situations and he was not at fault of the situation. We were basically left at the destiny of uber and lyft to take people to train stations. The brakes broke and it could had been a dangerous situation. So far i have not receive a single email or phone call for the hassle. There elderly, children and with no way to know what was next. My party and i decided to wait for the mechanic and after several hours we got to NY. No one in NY waiting for us to tell us anything or a refund. I honestly think that is the authorities responsibility to allow bus companies like to play with our lives. In the meantime, never again. read more

Went from NYC to DC on the Monday morning bus with three kids and plenty of large suitcases. Plenty of room on the bus, complimentary water, friendly drivers, pretty much stayed clear of heavy traffic, and arrived on schedule. The bus ride is a bit bumpier than taking the train but hey, it's also one third the price so great value for money. read more

Everything seemed great until we reached Harlem. Then our driver seemed to zig and zag throughout the city finding the most congested routes! We left Cambridge at 10am and as of 3:55 we have not yet arrived at the station. I understand that traffic happens but much of this seemed avoidable. read more

NEVER AGAIN... Well, you obviously get what you pay for with Academy/ Go Bus. The drivers are great, but the buses and customer service are absolutely horrendous. Their bus breaks down on the parkway and customers were left waiting almost 2 hours for another bus. Any respectable company would offer some type of compensation- Academy only offered a smug explanation of why they WOULDN'T offer anything. Simple situation handled completely inadequately. Academy/ Go just lost 2 more customers and are in for a host of bad reviews. read more

The stop in NYC is on 30th Street just west of 9th Ave. it's easy to see if you have a few minutes to spare because there are tons of Academy buses there. The bus was clean, there is bottled water available, and the guy greeting the customers could not have been nicer. He helped me with my bags and I saw him helping others as well, even when it meant carrying luggage from one bus to the next. A gentleman. Overall a peaceful, easy and affordable experience. read more

I have been using GoBuses for several years but in the past month they have increased prices 30-50% and majorly cut the schedule. When every bus is completely sold out a week or so in advance you would think that they would add to the schedule. I've always chosen GoBus over everything else because I find their buses are clean, have outlets that work, and a pretty dependable. I've used them on over a dozen trips to VA from NYC and back. However they RARELY HAVE TOILET PAPER! That needs to be fixed. But my number one grievance is that they don't stick to a very strict schedule. I was 1 minute late once (pulled up to the lot at the exact time of arrival, and got out of the car a minute later) and the bus had left early. They wouldn't do anything to help me out and I had to buy another ticket which was significantly more expensive than my original ticket. Now here I am waiting for the bus again, the driver arrives late, then tells us he won't leave for 15 minutes and won't even let us wait on the bus when it's cold out. If you're going to casually leave late or early and don't expect your drivers to be any type of punctual than you need to be more lenient and helpful when riders miss rides. ESPECIALLY when the bus leaves early. read more

My bus was 2 hours late!!! I was scheduled to take a bus from NYC to providence. Initially, they told us the bus was running "a little late," and the estimated departure time would be up 30min after what was scheduled...about an hour and a half later, we were informed that the bus was in Queens (we were in Manhattan) and moving 3 miles per hour!!! I ended up having to leave, and take a more expensive route to my destination to get there on time. As a consolation, GoBus offered a minimal amount of GoBus points (which is why the 2, and not 1 stars...). But when I asked for my money back instead, given that I was out for not only the bus ride and the other more expensive ticket I had to purchase last minute, I was told there was no way this could be done...I'm sure this in fact could have been done, had there been the will to do so, which have been the appropriate customer service move... Left a BAD taste in my mouth about GoBus to be sure. read more

I took a Go Bus from Fairfax, VA to NYC, and it was an extremely easy and pleasant experience. You can't beat the price - $22! Not having taken this bus before, or left from this stop before, I much appreciated the email we got that morning that stated the bus was scheduled to arrive on time, and told us exactly which bus bay to be at. Always being the person who arrives too early, I got to the bus stop in VA about 20 minutes before departure and was the first one there. The 12pm bus was scheduled to arrive at 11:50 (after previously stopping in Manassas, VA), and arrived a few minutes early. The driver pulled up, and didn't even check any tickets, but gave us free bottles of water and told us to hop on. The bus was empty enough that we each had 2 seats to ourselves! I didn't see power outlets, but I may have missed them. There were individual overhead lights and bags hanging between each seat to dump your trash in. We left at exactly 12pm. We arrived late in NYC, but that was due to traffic and couldn't be helped. The NYC stop is also at a great location, right near Penn (not all the way on 11th Ave). Compare this to the Megabus I took to DC where the driver got lost, hit a road sign, berated the passengers, and couldn't find our drop off point, and I think I'll be taking Go Buses in the future! read more
