I went a few weeks ago and the selection of books was dismal and most of them are in really bad shape yet they still expect 8-15 dollars for some minor keys in the back issues. The place is also a complete mess when it comes to finding anything and the guy at the register is a jerk and shady. They were having a Black Friday sale and and they said no % off on "new" wall books and then proceeded to tell me that books that were in the wall when I came weeks ago were apparently "new" and that I couldn't get the deal they advertised and I drove 45 minutes for. It was much closer than the one in Quincy and had a much better selection than Norwood, so it was a no-brainer. While out earlier, a friend and I decided to stop in. We'd both had been wanting to see if there was a change. Plus, we were in the area as we had just had lunch next door. Best decision ever. Kyle is beyond one of the coolest individuals I've come across when dealing with various comicbook stores in my lifetime. I've been collecting since I was 8, and now, having just turned 50, it's needed. Attentive, friendly, and just plain cool. It was definitely needed and refreshing. Weird, I've had the exact opposite experience from another reviewer here. I shop at Loft all the…read moretime, in the outlets, stores and online. I find this store to be small and their selection of petites to be even smaller (which is strange as well because I find most women who live in the area of Irish/English descent are vertically challenged like myself). However, it is the ridiculously snooty staff here that drive me from mere ambivalence to outright scorn for this location. In addition to being bad for business, their pretension is ridiculous given that Loft is not Saks Fifth Avenue as they seem to think. They should be friendly to everyone who walks through their doors out of simple respect. I would spend money here as I am in the area fairly often and parking is easy, but their 'tude prevents me from "deigning" to do so.

The staff is very friendly and the store is always well put together. If the sales and clearance racks were a little bigger, I'd give this 5 stars. But alas... Their prices are on par, if not a little cheaper, than Gap and Banana Republic, but if you sign up for emails from the Loft, you'll know when items are on sale as they frequently go to 40% off once per month or so.

But for the most part, they recognize that a solid browse is usually needed before you'll be ready to check out up front. I admit, once I find my books I always (always!) take a right turn before checkout to do a solid walk-thru of the papers, calendars, binders, candy- everything yu need to have cool, pretty things on your desk or bookcase. And theyy get me every time. I ike that you can put a book aside to pick up and pay in store. Some times I'm not 100% sure that I'm buying the book I want, so it's handy to not have to pre-pay for a pickup. The selections on the tables up front are usually fairly interesting - mysteries, current releases, popular titles. There's always something there that I haven't read, or a great gift idea. Yep, people still like to give and get real paper books! While I keep a dozen or so ready-loaded on my Kindle, my first love are books that stay with you and I'm always gifting one to someone who I know still reads, or is learning to read, or doesn't know that they need to READ A DAMN BOOK! Because I'm only there to help! Go. Listen to a story time. Attend an author event. Or get a Starbucks at the counter and grab a table. There are many worse ways to spend some time quieting your mind.

When I happened upon the Barnes & Noble at Derby St Shops, I came to realize that I had somehow been mentally convinced that there were no more open locations. So this was a pleasant surprise! Nice and spacious with a well decorated children's area and a Starbucks on the right. Stop on by and peruse some books!

I then asked to speak to the manager, and I was placed on hold once again for over 10 minutes. I explained to Jessica the manager that I don't live close by and it would be an inconvenience she still said they couldn't do anything about it and I would have to come back into the store for my refund. I'm out of a gift for my coworker, no refund unless I travel 45 minutes back to that store, and leave to get a cheesy gift card. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT MY FAULT!!!!

The staff here is very nice. They are very attentive and know the customers who need help and the ones who are regulars. I usually buy unique gifts for family and friends when I travel - things that have special sayings, wall hangings, something funny or gifts for special occasions etc. But I have seen every time there is an emergency and I want something just as unique and thoughtful and obviously, I don't have a stock of those kind of travel gifts, I come here. And more often than not I find something. Not to forget the holiday and seasonal cards' selection I find in this store, it is nearly impossible to get pretty much anywhere else unless you are ordering in bulk - online. But these are some of the things I still love to do in store rather than sticking to the convenience of the digital world that we all live in these days... Another thing I realized recently. I had to call to find out why not and was told that USPS had failed to pick up the shipment. I guess they just keep waiting for them to come instead of making sure a customer order gets shipped. Then after it finally shipped it sat in a carrier facility where it still remains. Now they are telling me that I have to wait 2-3 weeks before they will consider it lost. Meanwhile they have my money and I have no merchandise and if it ever arrives I will have no use for it because it will have arrived too late to gift. The employee working at the costumer service register was very rude to me. I told the CS person that I was returning it because the awning was defective and had broken while I attempted to assemble it. The customer service person said it looked used? I told her it came that way. She argued with me and wasted my time arguing for 10 min while continuing to tell me that the awning looked used. I had the receipt and she resisted giving me my refund. Finally the manager of the store came over and suggested I get another awning. I said no, I would prefer a refund. The manager finally gave me my refund. Like the other Yelp reviewer said of Ocean State "Don't recommend giving money to this company. This place sucks. Management sucks. Employees suck. And the cheap damn products suck?" Huge supply of Bobs Red Mill products, a whole wall of it, organised by number. Best deal on the parchment I use for baking - in rolls and precut sheets large enough for a cookie sheet. Household cleaning items - always a great selection, even some throwback stuff like Babbo! During spring, amazing deals on gardening supplies, hoses, coolers, beach stuff. I love this place and trust the quality of just about everything I've purchased there. Friendly help, too.
