I spotted this store from the intersection while taking my husband to a doctor's appt over at the hospital and was excited to stop in after since the store would be opening then according to the info on Google. We arrive and the store should have been open my husband and I get to the door where an older man is standing looking out into the parking lot who I assume is the owner and we tried to walk in and the door was locked and the man turns and walks away and stands behind the counter, clearly he saw us and chose to completely ignore us. We look at the hours posted by the door to double check when the store opens and we were there at the time they had listed. We went back to the car and sat for about 10min waiting and watching to see if the man would come back and unlock the door which he never did so we left. It's a shame the guy didn't want our business and didn't feel like opening the door on time because I usually spend a good bit of money when buying fish since I have 7 tanks but oh well their loss. I wouldn't return due this negative experience and after reading so many other reviews about how rude and unhelpful the man there is. This is my go to local fish store. The lady who runs the store is so sweet and helpful. I recently inherited 10 convict cichlids when my uncle died, and knew nothing about taking care of aquariums. She talked with me for so long and made sure I understood everything I needed to do to care for the fish. I even bought some snails that are still healthy and thriving. I've had such a great experience at Go Fish. The lady there has been incredibly helpful every time, always taking the time to answer all my questions. She also recommended this book for starting a marine aquarium, which I've added incase you're curious. What I really appreciate is that it never feels like they're trying to upsell me. In fact, there have been a few times when she told me I didn't need certain items just yet, which saved me money. I recently got my first two saltwater fish from there- two clownfish, and they've been doing great. They also have a decent selection of both freshwater and saltwater fish, equipment, live rock, and more. One of the best Local Fish Stores in Baltimore County. They have some of the healthiest inventory available as well as a decent variety. They mostly specialize in freshwater and Cichlids, however they do have a single wall of saltwater tanks filled with fish and invertebrate. Their plant and aqua hardscape selection is very decent for such a small store. On my first trip there, I purchased several pounds of dragon stone, some extra large java ferns and a driftwood centerpiece, all fairly priced. More on pricing, Go Fish have very competitive pricing and usually have quantity discounts for both fish and plants. I like this place and at the same time, do not. I was recommended this place by an employee from another fish store when I was looking for Amano Shrimp but had no luck and this was my third pet store I visited looking for those shrimp in one day. Anyway, the guy who owns the store doesn't seem to like it when you ask questions and for that matter, doesn't really talk at all. I was waiting for help to get my shrimp. I was walking around the tank, looking at him. He was standing right in front of the tank with a computer, didn't even look up at me. I said hi to him, hoping he'd offer to assist me. He did not, he just said hi without even looking up. The other owner, the lady there, is nicer than him, and helps out when needed and got my shrimp for me. I would think if you own a fish store, you might want to be a little friendlier and he willing to help out customers, but what do I know? I don't even own a business. Anyway, on to the good things about this store. Their prices are pretty decent. They are most likely competing with nearby Petco so I like their prices. I got 3 shrimp for $15, not bad. The fish are well taken care of as well. I haven't seen any dead fish in any of the tanks. The tanks aren't the cleanest either but that doesn't bother me because the fish seem very healthy and active. They also have a decent selection of decor, food and supplies too, also supplies that other pet stores nearby don't have. Yes, in addition to freshwater fish, there's also saltwater fish too and a decent variety of invertebrates. So, you're probably asking me, would I recommend this fish store? My answer is yes. The owner may be rude but they have a variety that I look for in a fish store and healthy fish. If you don't interact with that guy much and talk to the woman there, you will probably like it too. I'm big believer in shopping local. I could easily get my dry goods from Amazon. I go out of my to drive to and from the store and pay more than if I mail ordered it just to support small business. I had asked for a specific fish that wasnt in stock. No problem it happens a lot in the hobby. The owner Stevethen asked if I was interested in any other fish, which I politely said I'll hold out for sold out fish. At that he just rudely turned and walked away. So this is the last time I'll deal with his shitty attitude. I'm done with this place. This is far from the first time I go WAAAAY out of my way to patronize this store and I'm rewarded with total crap of an attitude. Umm, so wow. This place is an oasis if you have a fish tank. I don't have fish willingly. In fact it was a bone of contention between me and my mother-in-law when she won the fish at a local carnival for my daughter. I couldn't flush it and she was proud. So she went and won two more carni fish and we went about building a carni fish habitat. I'm not a lover of these things. But in the year plus I've had them, I've come to find they have personalities. Who knew? Anyway, I'm not trying to kill them so when their tank grew dark and cloudy I went to my local Petco. Well, that slacker kinda just wasted my time. So one day sitting at the light I happened to look over and saw this place. I had time so I turned and came in Besides the fact that they keep slacker hours (I keeps it moving, I like to have my errands done by 10am and they don't open until 11), they're extremely knowledgable of whatever problem you have with your tank with just a verbal description. The problem is been having with my tank I was able to correct with the product they told me to buy (not sold at Petco) worked like magic. This is an excellent place to visit for anyone in the fish hobby. From a beginner to expert you will be satisfied with this store. The staff members are super friendly and knowledgeable. If you have any questions they will not hesitate to help you. I used to go 40 minutes south of here until I discovered this store. Their selection of fish is more fresh water than marine but the fish will not disappoint. Unlike other places, Go Fish takes the time to make sure they are selling a heathy quality product instead of focusing on how many fish they can move at once. When you walk in you won't have anyone hovering over you but rather a smile and a "let me know if you have any questions." Whenever you have a question or have made a decision you will be attended to immediately. For that I can say with all honestly I love this place. It may not be as large as some of its competitors but it makes up for that with the quality of service. The fresh water fish are always healthy. My husband purchased an awesome aquarium set up for me last Christmas. We have been regular customers since last Christmas. My husband purchased a dividing wall for my tank. Unfortunately it wouldn't work properly. In all the mess of trying to put the wall into a 55 gallon tank, the receipt got lost. I went in for the saltwater selection and possible supplies. Kind of disappointed with the experience. Only one row of saltwater fish, and all the prices and fish ID were so confusingly written on the glass. Few corals were in a couple tanks. Not a whole lot of stuff on the supply wall either. The staff is very knowledgeable but beware of the older lady. I had an algae issue and she told me to get this fish that will eat it all. She then suggested that I get two so they won't attack other fish. I go home and google theses fish and I see that they grow to 7 inches! In my little 15 gallon tank these won't work. They also stated to attack my other fish. So the next day I put them in plastic bags and brought them back. She said she had to give me a "talk" and said that the fish need to adapt and adjust to the new environment and that it would take a week. But if I waited a week it would be past their return policy, which is very very short. I had to fight for her to take the fish back. The store is also small and the tanks are really dirty. I would figure since the store is small they could take better care of the tanks. The other fish I bought from them have done nice but the tanks in their store could be cleaner. I suggest people go to House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie for fish needs. That store is massive and even have cool exotic fish like sharks and frogfish. read more

I asked the sloppy looking owner how much his small saltwater crabs were. I saw one in a tank and was interested. He started giving me the price for hermit crabs and I said "no...no..just the tiny crabs" his response, "I was trying to tell you but you interrupted." really asshole? He brought me to hermit crab tank..I looked in there and was like, "that is not what I am looking for...just a small crab." he didn't even offer to look for one or answer my question. I was not impressed. prices were a bit high or not much different from a chain like petco. I have a PhD in pharmacology, I know what a hermit crab looks like!! I (African American Male) was very excited to have a fish store in the area besides the bigger chains like Petco and PetSmart. I recently got into the hobby of fish keeping and looked forward to see what they had to offer. Found the store with no problem. I walked into the store around 5:45pm. As I entered the store I was greeted by a long "Stare" from the woman (White) behind the cashiers desk. I found it to be very uncomfortable so I spoke. She didn't reply. All my excitement quickly was diminished and new unwelcoming feeling followed. I walked through the store looking at the different freshwater fish they had. Nice selection. I was never asked if I needed help. But rather a older (White) guy every so often peek around the corner at me. I asked the older guy about a fish that I was interested in he answered with a two word response and walked away when I asked another question. But I found it odd because a few white people walked in after me and they were quickly approached and asked if assistance was needed. I would've walked out then but I really liked the fish. So I sort out a worker (Black) surprisingly, and he was willing to help me with the purchase. I got the fish and went to check out with woman. She was rude and lack many personal skills. I asked about shipments and she didn't answered but told me that they will be closing in two minutes. The worst experience I've ever had in a fish store. I will never go back.
