I have only taken open pole so far, though I've been doing so pretty regularly, and there have been a couple of instances of start time being later than scheduled, but not by much... and they always let you stay a little later when that happens. It's not usually a problem for me, since I tend to get there a few minutes late sometimes anyway. So just be aware that if you're a stickler for things starting on time, that may not always happen here. There have been a couple of instances of last-minute canceling of class, which was disappointing for me. They are good about texting you and letting you know, though I do wish they wouldn't cancel so close to the class starting time. If they absolutely have to cancel class, I would appreciate a few hours notice at least. For some reason, for the last two days I've had trouble navigating the website and the app... neither would allow me to sign in to a class. I've never had this problem before, so I'm not quite sure what's wrong yet. Both Oceanside and Encinitas are nice beach towns, too. So that's definitely a plus.

What an amazing experience! I had all the feelings my first time (anxiety, self doubt,…read moreexcitement). I am a 48 yr old big girl and felt super welcomed and never did I feel like I did not belong there. So far I have had 2 instructors Heather & Rebecca. Both were amazing instructors. So far I have only taken the first timers intro course and I can't wait to take more!!

Instructors are kind, and the studio is very clean and welcoming. My problem was the difference…read morebetween the first-timer class and the beginner level classes. I had never taken pole before, so I went to the intro class. It was fun, easy, and the instructor was super nice. I was then told to take the beginner class next by staff. I showed up for the beginner level, and everyone in the class was already friends with one another, had been working on a choreographed dance for weeks (that I obviously did not know yet because it was my first class), and were wearing heals. The studio owner (I think?) told me it was an easy class that did not require heals... never in my life have I ever felt so out of place and uncomfortable. I left and started to cry on my drive home, it was honestly terrible. I received no support from the instructor, no introduction, and basically stood in the corner feeling like an awkward kid at a party I wasn't invited to. There were tricks being performed on the poles that I hadn't learned yet (because it was my first real class!!) and again I was not taught any of it. I wasn't taught the choreography either, so I just stumbled through the whole thing desperately playing catch up with the rest of the class. I felt completely out of place, unsupported, and embarrassed. I have danced for most of my life, and never have I had an experience like this. If you are doing choreo, then don't open up the class to newbies if you're not going to teach them said choreo! Every other dance studio I've been to functions in a cycle, you join the class at the start so you are not walking into a choreographed dance everyone else has already been learning for weeks. And if you don't offer classes on a seasonal cycle, then you have the instructor work 1 on 1 with the newbies to catch them up on what has been learned so far. This experience was over a year ago now, and I haven't gone back. It was so disappointing and I just don't want anyone else to have the terrible experience I did :( maybe just stick with the first-timer classes for a few weeks before you join the regular pole classes.

I've been doing this style of pole dance movement now for 18 years, and have been with Haus ever since they opened several years ago. Many of my favorite teachers have returned, and I couldn't be happier. I've been to other studios, but this is my favorite. It's truly my home away from home, and the community is just lovely... full of very friendly, sweet women, and none of the cattiness you often find at regular pole studios. The supportive nature of the teachers and other students is so important to me because this is a very vulnerable place, and I feel safe here.

However, one the instructor arrived she opened the studio. I really enjoyed the experience, I felt like the instructor did a really good job of customizing the class to our various levels of experience which is really hard to do when you have some people who are just starting and some people who have been to many pole classes. She came around and helped each of us individually and provided modifications depending on our level of challenge. I also told her about an injury I had previously and she gave me some tips to provide relief and avoid reinjury. The only thing I didn't love was how dark it was in here haha I love the dark and sexy pole vibes but it was kind of hard to see when we first came in.
