And everybody had such a wonderful time, including us :) Usually at weddings, it seems like the bride & groom don't have time to eat or dance or talk to their guests, but we got to do all three, and have beautiful photos & videos taken with our friends and family and guests, because Kristan scheduled everything out so beautifully. The whole wedding day, my husband and I just kept marveling to each other that everything had gone so well and so smoothly, and how genuinely PERFECT the day was! At the end of the night, she helped us with our exit, and we couldn't stop thanking her for making our night so perfect! We really couldn't have asked for a better partner - the smile on her face made us feel like she was just as happy for us as our own family :) Other than our wedding day, I also have to mention how incredibly stress-free the weeks leading up to the wedding day were! The week of our wedding, I mostly just took my dog to the park and went for hikes with our friends and family who were in town for the wedding. Kristan was cc'ing us on all the confirmation emails to vendors, but to be honest, I barely read them because I knew she had everything in hand haha! We went with 20 uplights and 4 GOBO pattern lights along the walls of our reception area. It turned out beautifully and really added to the ambiance of the evening. The team did setup and cleanup seamlessly. FSE was also quite responsive and communicative throughout the entire planning process. They provided an extensive gallery of photos specifically at our venue to showcase the different lighting and drapery options they had. When we were choosing our GOBO pattern, they also had a large gallery and were able to show us examples. I'd definitely recommend FSE for any event lighting you'd need. Bride was very stressed out. Pens for the guestbook were not quality checked and did not work. The brides father and brother had to go to the venue to receive and quality check the table and chairs. Things were not set up on time (lots of waiting around for dinner, dancing, bouquet toss). Multiple times during the reception I saw her consulting the bride. Consultation and the plan of the vision are supposed to be established ahead of time. The wedding planner is supposed to take off as much stress from the bride and bridal party. I don't feel the brides best interests were taken into account- the bride made some bad calls and the planner should have stepped in with professional judgement. Guests would have been perfectly happy with 30 minutes of dancing. 1 hour + of dancing is just too much for guests AND the bride was exhausted!!! Several times I saw wedding planner standing around doing nothing or picking up menial things and not prepping for the next event, chitchatting, her assistant was not knowledgeable on the dinner menu. For several of the events I was the one running around -finding the getaway car keys, finding the bouquet, finding people to move things along. She was inept and making the wedding reception flow - guests were frustrated. Even if bride has crazy wishes - yes you want to do what she wishes but not at the expense of a drawn out event that makes guests want to leave.

When we hired Alicia (more than a year before our wedding) we thought we were getting someone experienced. What we failed to realize is that we would end up with someone burnt out (my MIL noticed right away and only met her once) who just wanted to create a cookie cutter wedding. She has her go-to venue in Napa and also claims she has done lots of weddings in the city. But she is not a top planner, at least not in San Francisco. Look at her reviews. If you notice, most of them worked with Jessica. (I didn't get to work with her until the day of and she was confused because she wasn't engaged from the beginning!) Alicia has been doing this for 10 years and only has a handful of good reviews. She gives you a spreadsheet that she makes you fill out as a couple as a "getting to know you." The ironic part is, she hardly reviews it or even cares to go through it with the couple. She skips almost all the meetings to try to book future appointments and leaves you with her assistants, even though you've paid for full planning. She lets her "team" take care of everything but they don't communicate, so you find yourself having to explain things over and over again. She also doesn't take responsibility when things go wrong. Instead, she just pushes the blame to the vendors. She'll also steer you away from your design if she doesn't have the rental items in her back room. She'll tell you that things are unavailable in the Bay Area, until you do a google search yourself and tell her to help you source what you find. I could go on and on, but if you are a bride that wants to enjoy your wedding planning process and day, do yourself a favor and get a real planner who wants to make your wedding dream a reality. When I realized that Alicia K Designs was a huge disaster, I had to re-engage the wedding planner I worked with before moving to California from the East Coast to help me with my ideas and designs. After the wedding I tried to work things out with Alicia but she just ignored me because she had already been paid.

I was married June 2012 at Kunde Estate in Sonoma, CA and we used Alicia K Designs for wedding…read morecoordination as she was the preferred coordinator for the venue. Alicia definitely knew the venue well and had a good relationship with both Kunde and our caterer (Park Avenue). This expertise definitely came in handy in working with the venue and vendors. Specifically, Alicia's team handled the lighting for the event well, even despite a completely new setup at Kunde after they renovated/landscaped their hilltop. The entire setup was perfect and the flow was great. Our guests (plus us) had such a great time and it was a wonderful event. My initial consultations with Alicia were great but there were some issues with some of the later follow-ups. She delivered the initial proposal over a month later than was promised and because of this our timing was quite condensed. I responded to everything she sent to me within 24 hours but she was continually delayed in getting back to me. I only mention this because I felt pressed towards the end to approve the proposal even with some minor errors because we had run out of time. Also, she passed off our wedding to her coordinator (Jessica) as we got closer to the event. Although in our contract it stated that Alicia herself would be our key contact leading up to and including the wedding day it was actually Jessica that became our main contact. Jessica was wonderful and very attentive but there were slight issues with timing for the day-of. Not a big deal, but I was frustrated because I was promised Alicia would be on-site including a guarantee the morning of the wedding. The wedding itself was absolutely fantastic - again Jessica did a great job and will continue to develop into an excellent coordinator. I think their team is definitely a solid team to use, I just had some minor issues with feeling passed along but nothing that wouldn't stop me from recommending this team to future brides.
