I ordered for delivery and the food was ready in time. I tried - - malai kofta: medium spicy was great the taste was flavorful but I wish this was creamier - garlic naan: this was delicious but also needed more garlic but overall naan was well cooked.

The service was ok and the food was ok too. Nothing out of ordinary. The place is slightly old though and doesn't look very well maintained. We tried the chicken drumsticks for appetizers which tasted good, the chicken was a bit cold though...not properly reheated. The veg kuttu paratha was ok. Could have been a bit more spicier. The chitoor Chinese noodles was ok, quite spicy. Unfortunately our sever did not ask for the spice level...so each of our entrees ended up with different levels of spice. Ok choice if you are hungry for some Indian food, else would maybe skip. Not sure if there are other good ones around...not been in the area much.

I went for Uber Eats delivery. Everything I ordered was spicy. Avakkaya chicken dum biryani was chicken biryani cooked with some (not a lot of) mango avakkaya pickles. Chicken chitoor chinese noodles was good and spicy as well. Mamsam roast was mentioned as an appetizer, but I would say it was better as a side for some bread like garlic naan. I went for the spicy version, and for me that suited the best (as i generally eat spicy food). Quantity was good. For ordering above $40, I got a complimentary payasam, which was just alright.

This is most authentic Indian food place in Harford ( in fact in the state of CT), the place is amazing, from interior decor to food- everything is 10/10. The staff is welcoming, respectful, courteous. The quality of food is awesome, you will like each and every item. We went for lunch buffet and blown away. I am from NY and we have its branch in Long Island, but this branch is way ahead of other branches. Strongly recommended- try dum biryani, Bar Bq, and mutton.

    Indian Snack

Food safety issue, I brought this my favorite snack called "murukulu" which also said organic on the label. It was pretty bad and foul smell and old. How come these stores allow such old things, this store need definitely thorough inspection and also along with my Biriyani raitha had foul smell too. I would definitely rate negative for my disappointment. They charge so much for un quality food.

Did you know that Marco Polo traveled to India in 1292? Did you know that the old Marco Polo restaurant in East Hartford closed and reopened as a spiffy new South Indian restaurant named Godavari? Did you know that Godavari is a restaurant chain with 14 locations in eleven states? Did you know that Godavari serves the very best Indian buffet lunch I've ever had for eleven bucks? Did you know that the lunch spread featured twelve buffet trays (many of which contained two dishes), three desserts, and three beverages (juice, punch and hot chai). Did you know that a Yelp check -in knocks 5% off your lunch buffet bill? What a fantastic lunch I had. The food was hot, fresh, delicious, and had a real nice zip factor on the old spice scale. I loved the coconut rice and gobi, but everything I tried was very good. I'm the first to admit that I don't know a lot about Indian food, and the names of the dishes printed at the buffet trays might as well have been written in Venusian, so I'm not really sure what they were. But be they vegetarian or chicken or lamb or whatever - they were all delicious. No doubt, Marco would be pleased.

The only item consistently delicious is the buffalo shrimp otherwise everything has been a hit or miss. I got oysters and they tasted a tad funky and I got the seafood pasta dish and it did not have much flavor besides the red pepper flakes, which I put in it. Otherwise it tasted very plain and bland and watery which was disappointing since I was excited for it and for $40. The dessert option brown butter cookie just tasted very bland as well seemed like the cookie packs I buy at the grocery store and make at home.

Huge portion, and some very delicious blue cheese which was in the dressing. It was very filling and I still had some to take back to my hotel. The wild mushroom "bolognese" (meatless) was tasty too, but it had a little too much of an herb (thyme?). Otherwise the meal was so very delicious and the setting was beautiful. Honest mistake of wrong menu being given, but it helps for customers to know what ingredients are in things like that when dealing with food sensitivities. Gilberts to celebrate another milestone with our son--his completion of ODS. Our reservation was for 7:30 PM, and after waiting about 10 minutes for our table, I asked whether we were being seated in Amanda's section. That was when we were told that Amanda no longer works at J. Gilberts. I was honestly surprised and disappointed that we weren't informed of this when making the reservation, especially since we specifically requested her. The food was OK as our steaks were more than medium rare (dry, not juicy) but unfortunately the overall experience felt very average this time. What made our previous visit special was the warmth, personal attention, and connection we experienced with Amanda. That feeling simply wasn't there this time. I understand that staff changes happen, but given that Amanda was specifically requested and was a major reason we chose to return for another family milestone, I would have appreciated being told in advance. It would have allowed us to set different expectations--or perhaps make another choice. We came back hoping to recreate a special experience, and unfortunately, it just didn't have the same warmth this time around.

They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Food was solid, but I was looking for more WOW. Now, the appetizers were WOW. Gluten free calamari and the Bang Bang Cauliflower were WOW. I could not have told that they were gluten free! Especially the calamari! The coating stuck to the calamari well and was not too greasy. The cauliflower was very good, and while I would have enjoyed a little less sauce, it was so much fun to eat such a crispy delicious bite of fried broccoli. I also had the octopus and roasted potatoes, and while the octopus was cooked well and was delicious, the roasted potatoes were almost rubbery. I wanted them hotter, roasted, browned and crispy a little bit, but they were plain. The dish came with a corn succotash as well, but I I was looking for a different flavor with this dish. I also got the gluten free lobster roll, and maybe it's the style I wasn't a big fan of (warm buttered), but I think there's an opportunity to butter the roll itself and toast it on a griddle to invoke that crispy buttered roll that screams lobster roll deliciousness. The fries were great. I live it when they aren't too thin, a little thicker, nicely salted, and that perfect crunchy crispy brown and caramelized with a soft center. The waitress did let me know the owner routinely travels to NYC for some reason to get his steaks. She didn't know from where in NYC. I almost forgot, instead of typical bread rolls to have while waiting for your food, they give a garlic and tomato sauce roll. It was decent and is at least something to give the restaurant some personalization. I wouldn't call it exceptional though. I am glad I tried it but I doubt I will return.
