They start you out with a cold ice water. For my first drink, I'm having the Old Fashioned made with Four Roses Bourbon, simple syrup, a dash of bitters (2-3 for me) and garnished with an orange and a Maraschino cherry. This isn't bad. It's balanced pretty well. It could be a bit more chilled. I would recommend stirring it with a bar spoon. For an appetizer, I am trying the Sabjiplatter which is an assortment of vegetable fritters including eggplant (Bhujia's), potato, onion, spinach and cauliflower which come with tamarind and mint sauces. This is good! I love those sauces! For our second appetizer, we are having the Utsav Kebab Platter made with a blend of Tandoori kebabs, chicken tikka, chicken malai, kalmi kebab and shrimp tikka. These are good! Dip them in the sauces. They can be a bit dry. For out next appetizer, we are having the Papadum With Chutney which is toasted lentils crispy and flattened with onion chutney, tamarin and mint sauce. I love that onion chutney! For my soup, I'm having the Thakkali Rasam. This is a spicy South Indian hot and sour thin soup made with garlic, tamarind, herbs and spices. It's hot, spicy, tastes a little oily and has a few dried red pepper flosters. I love it! For my salad, I'm having the Garden Salad made with fresh cut rounds of cucumber, carrots, onions, tomato, and carrot served with Olive oil and Chat Masala. This thing is huge! I love the dressing! For my entree, I'm having the Goat Mamsun Koora which is goat meat n bone cooked on roasted coconut peanut masala with hot chilies, ginger, garlic and curry leaves. This is delicious! It's quite couch too!!For my second drink, I'm having a Proper Manhattan made with High West Double Rye, equal parts sweet and dry vermouth, a dash of bitters and garnished with a cherry. Very good! It's served in a martini glass! This is well balanced and chilled! What a great meal here!

"There's a party going on right here A celebration to last…read morethroughout the years" (Kool and the Gang) What is the English translation of the word Utsav? Would you believe "celebration, or joyous occasion"? Well, I can probably declare that celebration is the right word to describe one of the best lunch specials I've found in months. Now brace yourself, and remove all breakables from the room, when I tell you that you can get a seven course Indian feast of a lunch for just $15. Utsav has 22 lunch specials priced in tiers -$15 for vegetable or chicken, $18 for seafood, and $20 for lamb. You'll find Utsav in the Wethersfield shopping center on the Silas Deane Hwy. All of those lunch specials start with a lightly dressed refreshing salad of greens, shredded carrots, seeded half cucumber slices, and sliced red onions. Now let me tell you about the remaining six courses. Your lunch comes out on a serving tray with lots of bowls - one each for your entrée, Basmati rice, eggplant with zucchini, spinach with potato, rice kheer for dessert (a rice pudding with raisins and nuts), and a separate plate with 3 wedges of Naan bread. I wanted to try something different for my entrée, and since I didn't think I ever had Khorma before, I ordered Chicken Khorma prepared very spicy. Korma is an Indian curry cooked in a yogurt sauce with nuts and spices. There was a good amount of tender chicken cubes, and that spicy curry was wonderful. Same with the rice, bread, and the vegetables, although I did prefer the spinach with potato over the eggplant with zucchini. There was so much rice and bread that I took half of those portions home for another day. I loved everything about Utsav, from the décor to the continental professional service to the broad menu, to those incredible Lunch Specials. Five Stars for sure.

Amazing find!! Very tasty Indian food and the surprise was the flavor of the MoMo. My search for…read moreauthentic momo in the area is over. Service was great, restaurant was beautiful and clean. If you are in the area, or even if your not, and you want quality Indian that is off blue back square - this is your place. The only downside for us was the curry. We asked for it mild, and it lacked flavor. I assume too tame down the heat they extracted some spices. Which was disappointing. But the chicken and momo was delicious. So highly recommend order - as is.

Unexpectedly nice, mostly good bites…read more Came here because the missus was craving momo. This was off the beaten path of blue back square so it was easier to navigate. There was parking in front but that plaza was fairly busy so the doors were all taken. Inside is decorated well if not slightly dated. There was one server was preparing portions of papad. He gestured us to sit at any open table. He was very attentive after he finished his task, but the initial interaction was very casual. We opted for the momo, a chicken madras, some poori for dipping, pashwari naan for dessert, and a chicken kebab for extra protein. Food came out quick, sat down and dug in. The momo, chicken kebab, and poori were great. Fresh, prepped well and flavorful. The momo were a highlight, made in house and although loose in the filling were seasoned and tasty. The chicken kebabs had little crisp bits of char which worked with the perfectly cooked chicken. And the Marsala sauce on the side was punchy and creamy. Even the pashwari naan was filled with a wonderful fig and cardamom filling but also toasted in salted butter to give it that salty crisp bite. The only bad bite was the curry. Overcooked chicken, no spice and one note. It was a massive disappointment from the rest of the meal. Price was reasonable, cheaper than the high end Indian places but not a bargain. Meal came out to $65, and the only thing not worth the money was the curry. I feel that they purposefully held back on spices because of our appearance, but there wasn't even salt. Never the less, the food here is of a very high caliber. The service is great, and the interior is decorated well. It's worth a try, and maybe a trek if you want momo.

Good Indian fare, nice owners, still needs work on the interior…read more Came here for a dinner trek. There was a noodle shop right next door that was okay, and we wanted to give this new place a try as well. The inside is sparse and still rough with construction. The space use to be a açaí bowl location, and they still had some of the signs and decor from that location here. There's also some ripped up flooring and exposed piping in the middle of the floor. Don't plan on dining in unless you can handle some rough corners. The chef/owner was nice but shy, the wife was much more extroverted and very kind. The chef took the order, the wife took care of the interactions and check ins. Missus really enjoyed interfacing with the lady, she enjoys supporting the local businesses that go in with passion. We got the chicken 65, samosa chaat, and chicken khorma. Food came out steadily, and we dug in. The samosa chaat was good. Spiced lightly, but good flavor. The samosa was slightly cold in the middle, but the flavors were there. The chicken 65 was also lightly seasoned but the chicken crisp and tender. Needed a dipping sauce to impart some extra spice. The portion was large and well done. The chicken khorma was great. Tender chicken thigh with a nutty creamy sauce with a little spice. The highlight of our meal. We also got naan, garlic and peshwari. The garlic was good, very garlic forward but the naan seemed to be very thin. There was a lot of rips and holes through the 4 pieces we got. We also got the peahwari naan, which was little light on the filling but has the right flavors. Pricing was reasonable, especially given the quality vs the portion. It's not a dine-in location as of yet, but the food is perfect for to-go. It's good Indian done well, needs to work on the spice level of their dishes but it's ideal for those who don't like heat. Order to go and enjoy

I had enough for two lunches, and honestly, if it weren't so delicious, I probably could have stretched it to three. The woman who handed me my order was incredibly nice and welcoming. I do wish it was more of a sit-down, dine-in spot, but for me, it'll remain a takeout go-to. Not sure if it's family-owned (that would be a bonus!), but it definitely has that personal touch. Give it a try--you won't be disappointed!

Service is quick though it can become too crowded during weekends. The owner and their staff are friendly and welcoming. We ordered dosais, vadai, mango lassi ( which tasted yummy, though it looked too bright a yellow) filter coffee, chole bhature, samosa chaat and gobi manchurian (which was surprisingly the best cauliflower Manchurian I have ever had) Every dish was tasty and the quantity was more than enough for a couple to share. Good enough Indian cuisine, cheap but lacking spice…read more Wanted to try a dosa, so opted to try one that had it in the name. Came here when it wasn't so busy. Ordered both lunch specials and a pani puri to try their take. Food came out reasonably quick. Server was a little hovery so we couldn't talk about the dishes as we ate them. Lead to some awkward moments. The dosa lunch was good. Very much different types of bread and sauces to dip them.none of the sauces had a lot of spice or flavor, which was a letdown. The fried bread was very savory, and the steamed bread was like a masa bread which was a good sauce sponge. Just needed more flavor. The northern Indian lunch was more similar to other dishes we had. The carb being rice and the curries with a bit more body to them. Still lacking spice, but not bad. The carrot and cardamom sugar dessert was a tad too sweet. Needed to tamper the raw sugar flavor down a bit to let the carrot and cardamom flavors play off each other rather than both getting obliterated by sugar. The dosa was fun, the peas and mashed potato were bland, but the crispy dosa had a cheesy like crisp to it which was nice. Price was cheap, everything came out to around 25 bucks. I would hope for more flavor out of these style of dishes, but it was okay for the money.
