I've ordered from Godavari several times over the past year, and my experience had been positive until my most recent order. I had ordered the Kurnool Kodi Kura which came with a side of rice, now I don't know whether it was the rice or the chicken, but I found a shard of hard plastic in my food while I was eating! I was shocked by the discovery, but I figured that mistakes happen, so I called the restaurant to let them know what had happened. When I told the answerer about my experience, I was asked to hold for a while, which I gladly did because I was expecting someone from management to field the remainder of the call. However, that didn't happen, and I was asked for my name & phone number with a promise that the manager would be in touch with me. It has been two days since then, but I haven't yet heard back from the restaurant. I'm particularly annoyed because I wasn't looking for any compensation or freebies. All I wanted initially was an acknowledgment of the error on their part, and my order re-prepared. However, the restaurant's apparent callousness has forced me to make this incident public. Update: Received a call from the manager about 30 minutes after posting this review. The manager expressed his sincere regrets regarding the incident, and told me that he was unable to return my call sooner since he was seriously ill. read more

I kind of have mixed feelings about this place. First, the food is very good. Excellent, authentic South Indian cuisine. What gives me mixed feelings is the service. My daughters went to pick up take out food and we're treated very rudely. I also had my phone disappear in the restaurant and the concierge acted like he was more suspicious of me than concerned that someone had stolen my phone. Update: August 2019: Gave this place a try just to experience their newly launched initiative - " BAHUBALI THALI"! Booking and reservation was pretty straightforward via email about a day beforehand. They brought us a non -veg thali initially instead of my ordered veg one. They were apologetic and quickly took it back and prepared us a veg one. We were 5 people to share one thali. Here's what the thali had for appetizers - samosa, vada pav, potato bhajyas, idli chilly, chilly bhajya. These were all tasty and came with chutneys. For Currys they had a good selection - malai kofta, kolhapuri, Paneer, baigan, potato and peas, these were all super delicious, good sized portions, very enjoyable! Breads included- roti, garlic naan pieces and were very soft and warm. The dish also had a couple of dal options one being dal tadka another rasam, both were yum! Rice included - a heapful of plain rice in the center of the dish, pot of veg paneer biryani, pot of mutter pulav, pot of achari rice. The portions were huge! As expected did not disappoint us, top favorite being the Paneer biryani. There was also plain curd and raita to go with these. For sweets we had gulam jamun, Rasmalai, yellow custard, chocolate pudding. Overall I think they did a pretty good job with each component of the thali. It appeared well thought out and was very presentable. They price point and the generous portion size did not disappoint. They flavors did not disappoint and this is definitely something everyone must try out atleast once at Godavari. I personally felt the experience could have been much better with some creativity like providing a lazy susan for the table so that the dish can be easily rotated around the table as it is meant to be shared by 2-4 people. And especially when they do not provide individual plates for self serving unless you ask for them. The amount of rice ( plain, pulav, achari, biryani) on the thali was borderline overwhelming and unnecessary. The variety was great to have but the portions could have been much smaller. Instead some more bread on the thali would have been appreciated. The staff as expected did not fail to disappoint us. They were again short staffed and have become bigger experts at ignoring our calls/ waves/ eye contact. They brought us individual plates after repeated requests and almost towards the end of our meal. They also didn't let us pack the left over rice. There was almost half the amount of rice left on the table. We understand them denying packing left over thali items like curries since these would be very small portions to pack but for pots of rice they must allow leftovers to be packed otherwise it's a huge huge food wastage. I have put up a pic to show the amount of rice that was left over. They advertise the thali for 2-4 people but we couldn't finish the thali even between 5 adults. I really think they need to reconsider and balance out the amounts of rice and bread in the thali. read more

I honestly don't know where else I can find an Indian restaurant that serves Thaali and when you found one you have to experience it, and I am done with this restaurant. The service was poor, the food was cold, and interior decor was a so so. I was very impress with the massive plate that they brought out and forgave them for the poor service that never once brought us the menu or even check and see if we needed anything else while waiting for our Thaali. And some uncooked pieces of mutton. We opened the godavari special -- kabobs!!! It was so raw , so pink , beautifully *uncooked* inside. You could actually hear the sound chicken crying out loud when trying to cut the humongous pieces godavari packed. Take a look at your uncooked food please. I would really give this restaurant more than 5 stars if yelp had that feature ! It has great indian food options on the menu and I have often ordered takeout from this place. I visited with my family for the first time to eat their bahubali non veg thali. It had almost 50 items, half veg and half non veg with a nice variety of desserts served at the side. Thali contains appetisers, different indian breads, rice and biryani dishes as well as main entrees and desserts. You need to book the thali one day in advance by calling the restaurant and pay the entire amount by cash to avoid a heavy gratuity. This thali was for $120 and 5 people could just eat half of it. The good thing is that the restaurant allowed us to take leftover food as to-go thus leading to no wastage and happy stomachs with happy people. They didn't explain what the food was in the giant thali set. One of my friend was vegetarian. We had to try the food before to confirm the food was vegetarian for him. I've eaten here three times, and had the masala dosa each time. The food is quite tasty. The reason for the 1-star review is that the last time I ate there, I ordered the dosa, and then explained that I was allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. After an exchange with the waiter about whether the sambar and chutneys contained nuts, he brought me the dosa with sambar and coconut chutney. It turned out the coconut chutney has peanuts -- my waiter didn't know this -- and I ended up having a severe allergic reaction.
