There is a big distinction from going into the restaurant to eat and ordering out, its a hit or miss depending on who is cooking. I only eat fish and I ordered 2 Kakinada Special Fish and other Items yesterday. I give specific instructions to cook the fish fresh to order. I even stated wait for it to be cooked as I got sick a previous time I ordered it. One can tell that the fish is recooked cooked as the oil settles on the the fish and parts of the fish becomes hard, chewy like rubber and all you taste is oil and its burnt, see pictures.. Well I got sick again. This type of fish should be cook to order no precooked and recooked. I have been to many south Indian restaurants and this is the 1st restaurant that does this recook crap for this kind of fish; other restaurants always cooked to order. I'm not sure who cooks on Sunday and Monday but they do not pay any attention to the request on the ticket. I really like the whole Kakinada Special Fish when it's made right but I cannot afford to waist money and be sick because of the owners/cooks don't care. I have given them multiple trys and at this point they are about a 3 out of 10. Im a foodie and im angry I have to writ this.... This restaurant could be so much more than it is.

If I could leave 0 , I would. I spent $25 for kodi [chicken] biryani. They sent Old stale rice that it smelt so bad. I threw the whole thing in the trash. The chicken was raw. Pink. Please see pics. Speak for themselves.

This is our got to place for authentic Hyderabadi food. We like their Chicken dum biryani, baby corn 777, chicken 65 & kodiveppudu. We tried their Indo Chinese food: Veg fried rice, Schezwan noodles and that was delicious as well. The servers are always very friendly and warm.

We've always enjoyed the weekend buffets here, but we finally got a chance to try the à la carte menu, and it was a fantastic experience. The food had such authentic flavors--my favorite was the mutton fry with a delightful hint of small onion. The restaurant's interiors really enhance the dining experience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu is quite extensive, and we'll definitely need multiple visits to try everything we're eyeing. This is truly one of the best Indian restaurants in the Boston area!

Excellent customer service , superb decor , delicious food and attentive service. They are maintaining the location with good hygiene in terms of cleanliness. Love the charming decor which adds to the experience of diving into the yummy meat dishes. I throughly enjoyed the shrimp and goat dishes on the menu. Their masala chai really hit the spot for after dinner beverage. Will certainly be back again soon.

    Receipt as proof

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent experience at Godavari restaurant on 8.25.24 (receipt attached). The food served to our party was stale, undercooked, and lacked any discernible flavor. Furthermore, the behavior of one of your staff members, DEEPAK, was highly unprofessional and rude. Despite our group of 12 having paid for the buffet, Deepak insisted that we finish our meal within half an hour and leave, stating, 'Just eat and get out of here. This treatment was embarrassing, unexpected, and deeply upsetting for everyone in our party. To add to our dissatisfaction, we later discovered that a $54.00 tip and disguised as 'Service Charge' on a Buffet for 12 people on a weekend rate of $25.50. This was charged to our bill without our consent. We just found out after we came home, this is real obsurd! I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant if you wish to avoid unexpected charges and unprofessional service. I will also be filing a separate complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter with this receipt. Attached is a copy of our receipt for reference. I would love to talk to the owner and let them know how rude, the employee DEEPAK was and I would never recommend anyone going here again!

    Chicken biryani with mango

We were in the area and wanted to eat biryani. It only made sense to come to Godavari! They were also open the day after Thanksgiving which was great. We ordered over the phone so that we could get takeout. The person taking our order said it might be 20 mins or so for the food to be ready but really it took like 10 mins, so that was quick. Back to the food. Instead of the traditional Hyderabadi dum biryani, we opted for the chicken biryani with mango pickle pieces. It turns out this biryani had boneless chicken pieces and they were so well marinated. There was ample of masala too which is how I like my biryani. The picture is misleading because you can only see the yellow rice on top, underneath is all masala and chicken pieces. Yum. The chicken gongura was also tasty. A little tangy but a very unique taste from other dishes, give it a try once. One thing to note is it was all spicy, and I mean spicyyyy (hence one star short in the review). I did request them while placing the order to make it mild but oh wow, there was spice. So for someone who is spice-averse, I would recommend opting for some other dishes which truly have no hint of spice. Wish Godavari was closer because I haven't had tastier biryani elsewhere in the Boston area!

High-effort, well-executed and conceived takes on middle eastern and American food - lamb over rice, falafel, burgers, hot chicken sandwiches, hummus. Chicken is their strongest suit, in my estimation. They do amazing chicken tenders and chicken wings, paired with a tasty sauce and breaded for a really killer crunch. I love em. Same goes for their chicken burgers, chicken over rice combos, and chicken wraps. Lamb here is great, as is the falafel. I haven't had a bad meal with either. I tried their hummus on a recent trip and thought it was good. Nothing mind-blowing but better than the average. Also want to call out their waffle fries and onion rings, which are perfectly done. I love em to death. Whatever my main is, my side will typically be either the chicken tends or the waffle fries. For the negatives, their non-burger beef offerings suffer from the beef having lots of chewy bits in them. For example, their steak and cheese should be a sure thing, but every bite had a bit chewy bit I had to stop eating to pull out. They also overdo it on the mayo/sauce for that sandwich. So yeah, avoid their steak bomb and steak and cheese. I haven't tried their milkshakes but I am very sure they do a great job. Halal Eatz is one of those places you can usually trust to do a new item very well.

They did not have all the meats that are listed when they come around which I couldn't comprehend because this to me was supposed to be a fun celebration. How can you not have chicken during the time we were there. The staff was pleasant when they came around with the few meat choices. The meats were all extremely over seasoned. Way too much salt. I was hoping the dining experience would've been different. They didn't offer dessert. We got dessert elsewhere. Then the bill comes and they charged for 4 people. There were only 3 of us. Overall, very disappointing. Wish we chose another restaurant to celebrate.

It's a rough spot for businesses in my opinion, there is very little parking there on Main St. if the spots are already taken up. But I continue to get fried chicken a handful of times a year from here because it's consistent for mass marketed birds. If you are going to do just a handful of things then do them well. And the chicken is about as good as it gets for fast food style. Perfectly seasoned, maybe a tiny hint of spice and cooked to the perfect temp to ensure crispiness. I always get the dark meat, plus it's a little cheaper. I don't understand heathens who swear by white meat that has very little flavor. I tried the tenders one time and was even given one because they are "cajun" style so I wanted to make sure they didn't heat up the mouth of the kids. Flavor is excellent and I didn't taste spice at all. For the sides, the biscuits if freshly cooked are perfect, but they do tend to dry out quickly. My kids love the mac and cheese, it is very very yellow-cheesy and goopy, if that's your style. I'm ok with the mashed potatoes, they are definitely instant and I wish they had more gravy or at least it came on the side like KFC serves. I really like the customer service and camaraderie here. I've been inside before on a busy Friday night and it's mostly Indians chit chatting with one another. It has a very homely feel at times when in reality it shouldn't because it's just a storefront counter selling a handful of items. So let's recap as to how we got to the final score. When I ordered, the cashier was warning me like I didn't know what I ordered. I get it! I have fair skin, and the stereotyping is a real thing. I asked them if they could make it extra spicy. The person rolled their eyes at me as they said "okay". When I received my order. It was the wrong order. It looked like mine, so I ate some and I had a bite of the roti, which would be a safe assumption it maybe came with the meal. Not like it's a pricey side dish, or anything. The server comes back who was the same person who rolled their eyes at me and said it was the wrong order. They left the roti at my table. So I had another bite of the first piece. The server brings the "correct" order, and there was no heat. Maybe a 1.5 out of 10 on the heat scale. I asked if it was the correct order. The server said yes. I asked if there was something to make it hotter. The server decided to insult me in front of my family and tell me that I can pay for the roti when I am ready to leave. What?!? It was your mistake, and after you insult me twice, you want me to pay? It's not the price. It they weren't rude. I would have been happy to pay. It's a cheap, unleavened flatbread. So, the food quality is definitely Indian street food. Don't expect anything glamorous. If you want spicy food... unless you're one of those people that find black pepper spicy... get yourself a mango lassi, it is spicier than what they consider "hot". They wouldn't survive a day in my kitchen when it comes to spice. It was a waste of money. Especially paying $50 for street slop on a paper plate. (One appetizer, one soda, one drink, two entrees). No wonder why they charge first, then serve the food. This place could close down, and I wouldn't notice or care.
