My wife and I went to Maya for Valentine's Day and we were so delighted! The service was excellent with polite, prompt attention, and there were cute lights on each table. They even gave us (ok, my wife) a red rose. The specials were aaaaaa-mazing! The pops appetizer was so flavorful without being overpowering. The entrees were mouth watering good, beautiful, and prepared perfectly. The salmon had a ton of flavor with the custom rub. The lasagna was unlike any other Indian dish I've had-in a fun way! I am not usually a fan of Indian food and spicy hot in general but I had an Indian friend who is an outstanding chef who showed me how exquisite this cuisine can be. Friends urged us to accompany them for lunch at Maya and their enthusiasm for the food is warranted. We started with the wings with the sweet sauce. It was very spicy but so flavorful and fresh. I will an order again but ask for a milder version. I got to try many dishes I usually wouldn't order and was delighted by all. Daal Maharaja with lentils and kidney beans was so delicious and fragrant with the perfectly cooked basmati rice. Tiki Masala and the Saag (green sauce) were also memorable. There was soothing Indian music playing and an altogether pleasant decor and lighting. The location for Maya unexpected and quiet but the food should soon draw crowds. We went there for Valentines Day and were not told there was a special menu, that was on them. Nothing on there interested us so we ordered off the special menu. That was on them too -- never told us, your food will take an hour! People ate and left and we were still waiting. Now the food was amazing. We had a beet and peanut butter appetizer -- yes off but insanely delicious. I ordered the Dal Fry which are yellow lentils. Very creamy and delicious. Also for the table got garlic nan, which was spot on good. So the food was excellent, the management of the restaurant was not good. Hence three stars. Maya is a great rest and even better Caterers. This was our first time working with them since we wanted to do a traditional south Indian menu. Absolutely amazing food and amazing service . The process from beginning to the end and the communication with the owner and the manager were absolutely fantastic. we had quite extensive menu and all of it was special south Indian specialty food that was properly suggested by them to make the everything went along with what we had in mind. The day of the event they arrived on time and all the set up was done on time . The food was absolutely amazing and very fresh , nicely presented and the taste was just out of the world. It was really awesome experience and all the guest absolutely loved the south Indian food menu which replicated the menu that is served traditionally on a banana leaf in India. Yummy yummy! From start to beginning! The lamb samosas were really good hot and crispy and the sauce makes it even better. We also got the chicken 777 as an app and THATS A MUST TRY! Honestly if you wanted to get that as entree do cause it was large enough to get full off of but we saved room for our meals. Service was great, we got there early. The ambiance was good, seems like a good place with a nice bar and plenty of room. The food was very good. We had a group and two of us shared Tikka Masala, Chicken biriyani & Garlic Naan. I love Indian food and the Tikka Masala was the best I've had since I've move here from Texas. The chicken in the Biriyani caught the flavor well but the rice was lacking in some flavor but I've had great biriyani before and this isn't bad at all. Will be going back often. read more

Maya Indian Bar and Grill came to my job so I had to try their food. I got their saffron rice, chana masala, meatballs, and naan. Wasn't the best Indian food I've had but it wasn't bad. The food was warm which was annoying since I like my food hot. The naan was the biggest disappointment. They served plain naan but they were all burnt and it was as if the server was fishing to give me the most burnt naan of the bunch. I didn't bother eating it because burnt naan is a pet peeve of mine so that was a waste of money. This place personally isn't worth the trip for me since their actual location is in Wakefield and there are far better options for Indian food. read more

Good food, but an awful service experience. We've ordered for pickup from here three times. The first time, they forgot to include an entree in our order, and refused to credit us for the item, insisting that the only thing they could do was have the item waiting for us if we drove back to pick it up. The third time, we showed up to pick up our food only for them to tell us they "didn't have our order," which turned out not to be true once an employee simply checked the order list. We waited for them to prepare it, which was a frustrating waste of time... and while waiting, we learned that two of the other customers standing in line had experienced the exact same issue, one via an online order, another via phone. I know restaurants get busy, but this track record is rough enough that we're strongly disinclined to ever order from here again, especially because the restaurant didn't apologize either time or make any attempt to make it right. It's a shame: This is probably the best Indian food we've managed to find in the Wakefield/Woburn area, but it genuinely feels too risky to try to eat here again. read more

Just popping by to give an update, this is still my go to, number one place for Indian food. I hope they never close! We still get our go to meals of chicken 777, vegetable samosas, madras lamb and garlic naan. I'm almost afraid to try anything new, but when we bring people with us I try a few bites of theirs and its all still so amazing. Their mastery with spice and flavors is unparalleled. We have yet to find another place that is so authentic. Just be mindful of the spice when ordering! If you don't like spicy food just let them know and they can tone it down. If you DO? I usually order take out from here and get the Chicken Tikka Masala and an order of Garlic Naan. I get mild on the spicy scale, but you can pick the spicy level you want (mild, medium, or hot/spicy). I find the mild still has a nice kick and the flavor is excellent. It always tastes great and they have very generous portion sizes. They are always quick and the food is always hot when I pick it up. Definitely recommend Maya if you are looking for Indian cuisine. read more

My husband and I come here all of the time. We are vegetarian and loved the vegetable korma and veggie tikka masala. The samosas, naan and papad are also fantastic. I think every neighborhood should have a decent Indian restaurant. Maya Indian Bar and Grill is definitely the go to place for locals for a quick night out or take out spot. My favorite dish there is the chicken 777, the taste and spice level is just right, the sauce is slightly creamy and super delicious! I love their Indian Green Chutney (the mint cilantro green sauce), this sauce goes well with everything you put on the plate! We also enjoy the Rupee Indian beer to go with the meal, it is a light beer that is not overly carbonated and it goes down smoothly and pair well with the Indian cuisine. Highly recommend! read more

I've passed by Maya more times than I can count on the commuter rail to and from Boston. I was thrilled when I started working in Wakefield because I love Indian food and had been wanting to try this place for so long. The interior is beautiful with colorful paintings and Bollywood music videos playing, which I always enjoy at Indian restaurants. Everything is perfectly clean and the atmosphere is intimate. Great place for a dinner date. The lunch buffet is not only delicious, but it's an awesome deal too. $10 for all you can eat ($12 Friday-Sunday because they have more dessert options), plus fresh naan. It's a great way to sample the menu and definitely made me want to come back for dinner sometime. My favorites so far are the chicken tikka masala and paneer korma. I also love the bread pudding they have during the weekend buffets. Service is excellent. The waiters are very friendly and often talk to their customers. It seems like they have plenty of regulars, and even on my second visit the waiter recognized me. Only have AMAZING things to say about Maya. I would say it is arguably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in Wakefield! If you don't start with an order of at least Chicken 777, you've messed up. That's chicken strips that are bathed in a sauce that is simply so scrumptious, creamy and spicy all at the same time and you will be thinking about it for the next week to come-seriously that good! I recently upped my spice game and ordered the Chicken Korma spicy and it was perfect for me but my Nepalese fiance couldn't even hang with this one- too spicy for him! We also enjoy getting the chicken curry and paneer tikka or korma as well! I am so impressed with the food I ordered from Maya Indian Bar and Grill. I used Uber Eats for delivery due to the pandemic, and happened across this place - I'm so glad I did! I ordered paneer tikka masala and ginger mint naan. I really think this may have been the best Indian food I've ever had. The paneer tikka masala was perfect - not too spicy for me and so creamy! I wish the ginger mint naan had more ginger in it, there wasn't really much, but it was still delicious naan. Maya even included an immunity booster soup for free. we have ordered from them many times in the past and have liked it. This time however the order showed up with out any rice. when I called them the lady didn't seem to believe me. After putting me on hold two times she said they can refund me $3 for their mistake. eating indian without rice is not really something I want to do. after waiting 1.5 hours for delivery we were very disappointed. they finally agreed to deliver rice. we will see how long it takes them. I was born in Delhi india and going to any Indian restaurant is a waste of money for me, as I can cook better at home and Delhi street food is the best in india, and that's where my taste buds are from.... This place is so far my best in and around Boston. I ordered aloo gobhi, Baigan bhartha and daal.... Salt was a bit on lower side that took the real flavor away. I would give them 4 stars... My five star place still has to come... Not to take the chef's hard efforts away, this place tops the list of Indian restaurants so far. I was craving some Indian food so I decided to try this spot, and I'm so glad I did! Upon walking in, I was greeted by a friendly man and got a good impression of how well kept and clean it is. The bar has a nice aesthetic as well. I really appreciate the markings on the menu of what is gluten free and/or vegan, due to my allergies (not many restaurants that are not a chain do that nowadays). I decided to go with the Bollywood wings with mild spice, and they were wonderful! Not overly sauced, cooked just right, with enough flavor, and a little crisp. Their food it to die for, I have been back several times since and I am a great fan of their lamb and goat dishes. Parking for Maya Indian Bar & Grill was available in two lots across the street, which was great since the local street parking was limited to an hour, and I figured that dinner would take longer than that. For our party, we ordered Naan $3 (Hand-stretched leavened soft flat bread cooked in Tandoor) in garlic and in rosemary - garlic was my preferred flavor of the two. Each of us ordered an entree, but given the portion size, we had quite a bit left over. A few dishes of rice was also brought out for the table to share. One DC and I shared a meat and a veggie: LAMB CHOPS PESHAWARI $20 Lollipop Lamb chops, raw Papaya paste, Cashew nuts Peshawari spice cooked in Tandoor MAYA PANNER PASANDA $16 Paneer slices stuffed, with potatoes and nuts mixture, and cooked in an onion saffron sauce The lamb dish was impressive, consisting of 6 meaty lamb chops sprawled on a sizzling metal dish. Unfortunately the few vegetables which made up the bedding were blackened by the heat and the seasoning was spicier than I could easily handle. I ended up enjoying more of the paneer dish with its tasty sauce. Their mango lassi was a bit pricey at $4, but it tasted fine and was of a good portion. Service was pleasant and handled in tag team manner, though some dishes were identified incorrectly - fortunately we were willing to share. At the end of our meal, they surprised us with some free mango kulfi as an apology for how long it took our food to come out. We were impressed by this as we had made nary a complaint to anyone, and the dessert was quite good - like frozen mango lassi! read more

My girlfriend and I tried Maya's last night. The service was great and very personal. The waitress offered us some good advice. We both selected goat dishes that were very good. The Peshawari bread was also a good choice. My only suggestion is to be careful how spicy you order your entree. I went with medium and it was borderline too spicy hot for me. read more
