I have used "Going Places" several times over the year to book cruises. I interacted with Tammy who was very delightful and attentive. She always followed up with all the details I needed to make a decision and ultimately book our vacation. We haven't traveled the past two years due to the pandemic. We went by "Going Place" this last Saturday to discuss planning a vacation this year and was informed that Tammy had retired and moved out of state. So we soke with Emilly the owner and told her of our interest in booking a "Small Ship" cruise in the South Eastern part of the US. She explained that she wasn't very familiar with those cruises, but she would look into it and email me with info in the next day or two. After five days I had to track her down and remind her of our conversation. I assume that after people being locked down and not being able to travel for the last two years, travel agents are extremely busy. Incredibly disappointed and misinformed by Emily of Going Places in regards to the Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana. After selling us the upgraded Diamond Club level for a lot of extra money, we received the same run down rooms as everyone else in our group. Once arriving we found out all of our extra money for the Diamond Club was a huge rip off. The Diamond Club building was closed for renovations. We were told Diamond Club members would have top shelf liquor which everyone in our group received without spending all the extra money. We were told we would have access to a butler 24/7 which we only saw 2 or 3xs all week which we were told being a Diamond Club member gave us prior seating/reservations. He was only able to secure us dinner reservation once for the entire week. in addition, she told our group of 14 that this was an adult only resort which is was not. The AC and mini fridge were not working in our room and half the restaurants were closed for renovation. The entire resort and service provided by Emily of Going Places was a huge disappointment and definitely not worth the money. i feel she she have informed our group of all the renovations the resort was currently going through and that half the amenities were broken or not available. read more

I used Going Places to take care of travel for a big celebration! Every time I would have a question for Emily about anything, most of the time, her response would be, I'm traveling, or I would have my assistant email you. I paid the total amount for my travel in July of 2022; my trip was to depart in April 2023. Emily had me as a passenger on the back row of each flight. I had my special needs sister with me as a travel companion, and we were not placed in proper seating on the plane. The flight was changed, and Going Places did not notify me. When I called to discuss the change and requested to be switched to a flight that matched my schedule, I was quoted a price of nearly $1000 for each seat per person. The airline got wind of the situation, and I was told that the travel agency should have notified me of my flight change. The airline got me a new flight that matched my schedule and was free of charge. And the airline accommodated me and my sister with better seats on all four flights, free of charge. So to keep it simple, I will not be using Going Places anymore. Thank you, but no, thank you!! read more

I chose Going Places for a trip that I needed to plan with my father my brother and I . I worked with Emily and it was the worst experience I have ever had. My dad was dying and his last request was to take my brother and I to an island. The only thing he asked for was white sand, Bluewater and a nice flat screen TV. I booked an appointment with Emily, told her what was super important to my dad the white sand blue waters and a nice flatscreen TV. After a few days she got back to me with some different choices, but she really recommended the ROYALTON in Punta. Cana telling me how beautiful it was and.how white the sands were and how blue the water was and that the Royalton had nice flat screen TV's....The day finally came, we were so exited to spend the next week with my dad knowing he didn't have much time left, and at that moment thinking that Emily took the time to make sure my dad had everything he requested knowing how important this trip was. We arrived at the Royalton in Punta Cana walked into our extremely small room to find 2 full beds and a tiny little table, I stressed to Emily time and time again how important it was that we had two rooms since it was my father my brother and I, the last thing I wanted to do was sleep with my father or my brother, which, of course I had to do since that was all they had...The sand was very soft but not white and the water was turquoise more green then blue, Emily assured me that Going in the month of April that the water would be crystal blue... It was not. The ROYALTON had nice restaurants and we also had a butler that was supposed to come and check on us daily and throughout the day we saw him one time. And then my worst nightmare came true that first night we got there, my brother and I were going to go out after having dinner and my dad was settled in to watch TV. We turn the TV on and it was nothing but a scrambled mess... Called the front desk. They sent somebody in and switched out the entire TV. We turn it back on and the same thing a scrambled mess .! They assured me that the problem would be fixed by the next day... It was not, my dad could not be in the sun for hours at a time and that's why it was so important that we have a nice flatscreen TV so instead of going out enjoying being in Punta Cana on vacation we were in the room with my dad because there was no way I was going to leave him in a tiny little room with no TV. He was so disappointed after spending $10,400. We had a tiny room with two beds no TV no blue water and no white sand. I called Emily and told her about it. She was little help she called, the reservation line and they said they would try to find us another room. Well they did, but it was on the second floor and come to find out. There were no elevators. Emily should have found out before this trip. I told her time and time again, my dad was in a wheelchair. To save a lot more words my dad died one week after we got home from this trip and it was the biggest disappointment and I am so sad that I could not give him the trip that he wanted before he died with his daughter and his son. All because I trusted somebody named Emily at Going Places because she told me that she would help me make this the best vacation ever and that she would make sure all of my dad's requests were met, and there were only a few...when it was all said and done and spending $10,400, she offered me back $540... That was the biggest insult anybody could ever give... My dad was on his last vacation before he died and he couldn't do what he loved the most... Watch TV... Have his feet in white sand while looking at the blue waters. Once I got home and started looking around for myself at different places just wondering what the cost was if I would have done this on my own we would have only paid.$7,430, she overcharged us so bad... I have spoken to a few different travel agents telling them the price that we paid and what I got and they all agreed that the price was ridiculous and that Emily at Going Places in Pasadena Md truly screwed us over. read more

When I returned to Going Places to ask our agent a question another agent rudely interuppted and was telling me that I was wrong. Our travel agent was very nice and tried to contact the hotel to confirm the verbage of the available rooms. My husband was quoted for one room and he paid the quoted amount and the itinuary noted a different room. On a positive note when we got to the hotel the front desk advised that our room was upgraded. Not sure if this was coincidental or not. read more

The staff at Eastpoint were friendly and helped find the best deal. The staff in Glen Burnie rushed us and weren't as helpful as we were used to. It wasn't a good feeling. Emily at Going Places recommended Aruba to us. It was our first time and won't be our last. The Marriott Stellaris was excellent. Current COVID-19 restrictions did not deter us at all. Going Places is a great travel agency. They take the time to see what your interests are and suggest places that caters to your interest. They have an amazing team. My Husband and I have been using their services for the past 19 years. in the this day, where everyone wants to do everything online. We know we are in good hands with Going places. We don't have to worry about scams and never had any issues with our vacations that we booked through them in 19 years. Especially with International trips. They are aware of any important updates that most people wouldn't have knowledge of. In September,Keri arranged a wonderful trip for my son that's has special needs, 32nd bday, to Dreams Macao, in the Dominican Republic. Also, in November Keri helped my Husband book our 31 year anniversary cruise on Royal Carribbean Wonder of the Seas. Going Places coordinated for both Royal Carribbean and Macao to add a special touch for the special occasions. This made both trips that much special. For my sons bday they had a birthday banner on the door, chocolate covered fruit, fruit tray and a bottle of wine.(even though my son can't drink, it was the thought that counts and it was an added bonus). One of the worse vacations i ever had. I was booked next to a new hotel that was under construction My quiet peaceful vacation was interrupted every morning at 7 am to the loud sounds of jack hammers and saws cutting sheet metal while i was trying to sleep. On top of that my girl friend and i were gawked at my 30 some construction workers every time we went out on our balcony. I asked to be moved to a room on the other side of the hotel but was told i could move for 40 more dollars a night. House keeping at this Hilton hotel was almost non existent. After a day at the beach i returned every day to the way i left my room before i went out, no new towels, bed not made, trash cans still full. Only after i called would something get done. This travel agency presented us with some good options and rates. They also answered our questions as needed. They did not have detailed information about the resort. We did research on our own. I also thought they misled us. For example, we were provided with "resort credit" and were told that we can this to spend on items at the resort. This was not accurate. I called because of the good reviews. I shared specifically what I'm looking for, including that we are two female friends traveling together and that we need a room with two double beds. I shared my ideal trip; somewhere quiet, smaller quiet resorts are much preferred to larger party resorts. So what do I receive as choices? Margaritaville, and rooms with one king bed. I was going to use a travel agent because I don't know who has double beds available and who doesn't, what nice quiet resorts are out there, etc but I feel like I was just sent whatever was at the top of a search result list. We had a wonderful trip to St Lucia. No complaints for the Royalton. However, I felt we could have received better care from Going Places. I had to call them a few times to remind them I hadn't heard or received anything after I paid my balance in full. Emily was fantastic the first time we spoke, but after that, I felt I was a burden when I called the office with questions. I did tell her that this was the first time my husband and I traveled to St Lucia and I really felt she could have been more of an assistance with details. Basically, if I didn't ask her (and I did a lot of "homework" on my own), she would not have provided much in preparing us for our trip. Maybe travel agents don't provide that kind of customer service anymore, but I truly felt rushed every time I spoke to her and that she was busy with other customers.
