OWNER: LAURA GIARDIELLO This groomer does not even deserve 1 star....totally incompetent. After nearly 6 hours in the groomers' "care" I picked up my Samoyed (Noelle), a champion show dog of high pedigree. I was devastated to see what the groomer had done to my dog. (See attached photos) and documentation) WITHOUT MY CONSENT she completely shaved Noelle. I did not even recognize my dog upon entering the groomers' basement. I was beyond devastated. After 4 hours the owner, LAURA GIARDIELLO texted me saying: "All done with grooming... had to shave her.....the matting was too much for me to de-matt". In reality, she was too lazy to properly groom a double-coated dog. The ONLY reason to completely shave a double-coated dog is due to a medical/surgery issue. I was appalled when she didn't even offer an apology nor explanation for her careless act. At this juncture I am seriously considering taking legal action against this groomer and THE FLYING FUR PALACE business. Be cautious of pet groomers who work from their private residence who "work from home" (their basements) as they allegedly are not monitored closely or or supervised by town or state officials. Note: Groomer's comment to me prior to leaving her shop: "It's OK, you don't have to pay me". Final thought: Groomers in private practice: NEVER shave a double-coated dog.... Also carefully read the 1 and 2 star reviews on The Flying Fur Palace and do your extensive research on local dog groomers

I can't speak to the actual grooming but 0 stars for the owner's attitude. My dog came to get…read moregroomed and I let the receptionist know that he does not do well with other large dogs, that he's not aggressive but overly enthusiastic and it creates tension w other dogs. The staff at the groomer tried to put him in a temporary corral as opposed to a crate. I spoke up that this didn't seem safe for my dog because he could climb over or jump out (he's a large dog) and that I'd prefer him to be crated so he's safe from other dogs. Both the staff and the owner treated me like I was being unreasonable or some kind of jerk for not consenting for him to be kept in such a way. When the customer behind me asked what was taking so long I said I was waiting for them to have a crate for him bc he wouldn't be secure in what they suggested, the owner came out to tell me to stop talking bad about her employees. I'm not really sure if this was an off day for them or something but it was an incredibly negative interpersonal interaction and I won't be going back to this groomer. I also watched 2 dogs escape out the back door (which the owner told my husband I lied about). So: I waited about 7 mins to be checked in, rang the bell and watched utter chaos unfold in the back room. An electrician was working on a ceiling light above a corral w 2 small dogs. The electrician went to leave and the owner tried to move the corral to scoot it over to allow the electrician out the door but the dogs escaped under the corral and ran out the back door. The owner of Valley dog then went out the same back door you can see from their check in screaming for the dogs to get inside. Then several minutes later she finally addressed me waiting. This corral is (per both receptionists) is the same corral they wanted to use for my 100 pound dog. The owner tried to pack peddle and say that no, it wouldn't be the same corral but yes it's the same height and material and weight. Same corral. Overall a very negative experience and a huge waste of time. In addition the woman seemed exceptionally immature and unprofessional and then was talking about me to other customers. Update: the owner just called my husband and told him to take my review down. She also impotently threatened legal action if we refused. To the woman making this threat: feel free to pay your attorney to explain to you what's wrong with your behavior today. Do better. And telling my husband you're so tired of people taking their bad day out on you? No ma'am, honey it's you and your attitude, you're the problem.

Joyful Paws Service Dogs - Daisy

Kasey Nash, Joyful Paws Review I'm writing this review…read morefor Kasey Nash, Joyful Paws, because she is a superb trainer and I'm very grateful that she trained our dog Daisy to become a service dog. Daisy is a mini labradoodle and was 2 1/2 when she began training with Kasey. Previously she had had two intermediate classes at the K-9 Connecticut Education Center. To summarize, in our first session Kasey explained in detail what would be involved, and stressed the importance of my involvement. Daisy had 20 lessons spread out over 6 months. Lessons took place in Kasey's very well equipped basement, Home Goods, Target, Petco, and Cabela Sports. Kasey sent detailed notes after each lesson on what and how to practice, and how to take commands to new levels. Daisy bonded with Kasey the first day, and became very excited at even the mention of "Kasey". After a 5 week evaluation period she received her "Service Puppy in Training Vest" (a proud day). Approximately five months later, Daisy did a fantastic job on her service dog test which lasted more than two hours. Daisy's primary task was location assistance and guidance. She learned to guide me through a department store such as Home Goods, stop at curbs outside, and more. To name just a few commands: Left, right, forward, outside, button, here, wait. Kasey's method was to explain a new command, demonstrate it with Daisy, then teach me to perform the task with Daisy. Lots of treats were used! Before the next lesson, Daisy and I practiced the new commands extensively, at least three times a week along with previous commands. To give you a few examples of Kasey's teaching, we spent an hour or so getting on and off the glass elevator at Cabela Sports. Daisy learned elevator etiquette and got over fear of accelerations and abrupt stops. The techniques I learned from Kasey allowed me to build on many commands during our practice between lessons. To name a few, elevator techniques were used to teach escalators. "Outside" was extended to "Back" and "Find the trail" while hiking. For fun, during one lesson, Kasey taught Daisy to push a "door open" assistance button. This took less than half an hour to my amazement. A year later Daisy still remembers this "button" command. Kasey organized a number of field trips with her other dogs in training: Mystic Aquarium and a Scavenger Hunt to name two. Kasey wrote an "Attestation Letter" about Daisy's training which was instrumental in getting service dog approval for Aer Lingus and later for EuroStar (train to UK). I highly recommend Kasey Nash to anyone considering Service Dog training.

I immediately recognized she has skills way beyond mine and has so much knowledge of dog training and working service dogs. Far beyond most trainers. I am so impressed with her that I asked her to produce and begin training my next service dog for me when my current girl retires. Joyful Paws is AMAZING!
