For the past year, I have contracted Matt from Gokey Locksmith and I have been extremely satisfied with all of his work. My name is Riko S. and I am the Office Manager to public Schools here in the city of Los Angeles, CA. I have used Gokey Locksmith services around the clock countless times with an array of different jobs each time. Matt has done small jobs from making keys to big high-end jobs for us at all of our California locations. He just installed 7 electric panel code entrance commercial door locks with remotes at six (6) of our offices. I manage around eleven (11) offices here in the state of California and Matt has driven to each office to fix broken locks, re-keying doors, replacing hydraulic door closers, fixing bad jobs done by other locksmiths hired by my landlord, and has installed fire exit door lock panic bars and handles. Matt does it all and at reasonable prices. He works with your budget and most of all, is creative in ways to save you, the customer, money. In all of my offices, we have both heavy duty home and commercial doors and Matt, again, has done everything I have asked him to do and more. Thanks, all of my offices are up to city and fire code with easy emergency evacuation existing turning handles. The man and his company have met my needs for my office's, LA County Fire Marshals, and building code regulations. I consider him part of our schools family now. Just to share another example of his awesome work: we have had people try to break into our offices and Matt's work has saved us from theft countless times. My staff at our offices feel safer than ever and the work has been worth every penny. We work at a public school and safety is our priority always. I do not usually write bad reviews, but this business's practice is beyond unethical, and unprofessional. I do not recommend this business. On April 28th, I called Gokey Locksmith to make an appointment to switch two locks for my new business. The locksmith, Matt Johnson, arrived at 5:02 P.M. He asked me the locations of the two locks and proceeded to work on them without providing any quote. I assumed the total would reflect their STANDARD pricing on their website, which stated one-time service is $120, and each cylinder is $40. We needed to replace two cylinders, which brought the total to be $200, before tax. He finished the job at 6:15 P.M. and ambivalently asked for $827, which is approximately $600 higher than the price they stated on their website. With this pricing, the business should have consulted with the customers before proceeding the service. He would not have my permission if I knew the total price. (Several places quoted me for much more affordable pricings) I still paid him to avoid any on-site conflict, and kindly asked him for an invoice to justify this pricing. He reluctantly said he would send it to my email immediately once I paid. But I never received any invoice or receipt. Within the next few days, I tried to call and text him many times but no responses. If there was something wrong with my old locks and required special parts, that could possibly increased the cost by that much, at least he could answer my phone call and explain it to me. Unfortunately, I had to file for a transaction dispute of $600 with my bank, provided all the evidence, and successfully won the case. Please consider this issue if you choose to work with them. Someone told me ... If you have the BEST you can't get any better. GoKey Locksmiths has proven to me over the years time and time again that it was a true statement. Prior to what will soon pass. Security was a problem for me. Until I had the GREAT fortune to have cross path with Go Key. I have been true them as they have been to me. A Loyal guest with their (Matt and his man crew) establishment. SECURITY !!! Recently I used them and a hands on and capably knowedged individually name Alex took care of my security needs. Matt from GoKey Locksmiths, is OUTSTANDING! I picked him over all the other locksmiths on Yelp because of his reviews. And I'm so glad I did. I called Matt and explained I needed locks re-keyed. He quoted me a price and we agreed on a time. He showed up on time and got right to work. He's a clean worker, taking care not to damage anything or make a mess. We have specialty locks and one of them was badly rusted, and even though they were much more work than the usual re-keying, he still kept his word and honored the price he quoted me over the phone. Matt Johnson, the real character. Always above board in terms of personal attention to customers. Flexible but very transparent and ethical. I've known him for years. And helped him a bit starting this Locksmith business a few years back. Definitely not the scam artist on Google or that you read about on the news. He takes his work seriously and he take this customer seriously so that even if he can't get the parts right away or repair done exactly on time every time. Matt responded to my text very quickly and showed up to my house in less than 15 minutes. He was very nice and we actually had a nice conversation while he was opening my door. It probably took him less than 20 minutes before he unlocked my door. There was no scratches or punctures on my door from his work so I am extremely happy about that. Not only was I impressed with how quick and helpful they were, but when I got home every duplicate worked easily. That is not always the case when you have keys made.
