Gold & Diamond Source let me leave the store without buying anything!! This blatantly violates a cardinal rule of sales, as the customer will not return nine times out of ten!! I guess I'm more like my Dad every day since he would never make a big purchase without "sleeping on it" first. I was shopping for a Yellow Diamond and a "massive" floral, halo setting for an engagement ring. In order to throw off the "sales dogs" I brought a small repair job and thought I could browse while I waited. I was greeted by many smiling faces (always a danger sign, keep your guard up!) one of which was Sue H., who carefully examined my repair, photographing, writing the repair order, and even having Steve, the owner, verify the repair could be done successfully. I had done my research on the internet, where everything is absolutely true and was armed to the teeth with all kinds of "diamond words" like Clarity, Cut, Color, etc. to show what an expert I was! When I dropped the "oh by the way, I may be looking for a yellow diamond" on Sue she was unflappable! After a few questions we moseyed over to a display case to determine color, shape, and size. Natural Yellow Diamonds cut into Round Shapes are pretty rare, and with only a couple loose stones to look at, Sue located a 1+carat stone already mounted in a cocktail ring setting. The stone was breathtaking, fiery, dazzling, yellow!!! Looking through Sue's loupe, (remember, I'm now an expert LOL) I couldn't see any flaws at all. My eyes wandered to some other yellows in the case and fell upon an emerald cut stone that was such a pure yellow color that I couldn't stop looking at it! Did I mention it was $22,000 ?!? Only $18,000 over budget! Undeterred, I informed Sue that I needed that color and clarity in a round cut all for $4,500 and she didn't even laugh at me! She took the cocktail ring back to Steve who made me a very fair offer for the stone, which they would dismount and put in the setting of my choice. This is the part where I smiled and walked out of the store! Sue did not pressure me at all, in fact she urged me to continue to research and she would see me in ten days when my repaired jewelry was ready! Here's what I learned: Many internet stones are not certified and quality and origin (blood diamonds) are questionable. The "massive" setting is really hollow and made with inferior diamonds and poor workmanship. The more intense the color of diamonds, the higher the price, there are no Fancy Color diamonds of the size, cut and clarity I demanded for the price I was looking for! The deal offered at Gold and Diamond Source was very fair, and comes with a guarantee of value on the diamond for trade-in purposes. Sue never once lost her patience with my unreasonable requests, she was always willing to guide me gently in my journey to the perfect engagement ring with the stone she had originally shown me, mounted beautifully as the star of the show!!! At several points along the way, Julie and Steve (owners) both visited with me and made sure I felt I was being served well. When my fiancée (she said yes!) went in to have the ring resized, (my boo boo) Sue hugged her and treated her like family! The only way this could've gone better was if I actually WAS family and they gave me the ring as a gift !!! I had never been to G&DS until my fiance had said "Let's just try, you've been to many other stores and haven't found anything you like or really want"... I walked in not expecting much of anything like with most jewelry stores and I was not disappointed. Just walking in to Gold & Diamond Source I knew I was in an awesome jewelry store. You walk in and feel safe, knowing you are protected by double reinforced doors, metal detectors, and a security officer at the front door; whom is very polite and opens the door for you every time! Then you are greeted by very nice, polite, and most accommodating sales consultants there are! I was asked if I wanted a refreshment, soda, water, cookies...never had I been offered a beverage or snack when walking into a jewelry store. I was first greeted by Shay Paniagua, a big welcome with such a bubbly personality, big smile, and upbeat attitude. I had a lot of old jewelry from my grandmother passing. A LOT of jewelry, it was a tangled, mangled mess of real, costume, and everything in between. Shay was very helpful and patient, even helped me take the clump of old jewels apart. She took her time in helping me understand the differences in all that I had. After we had gotten everything separated, Shay took even more time with me to carefully assess the dollar value of each piece and explained the trade-in vs. cash-out routine. I had wanted something to keep for memory of my Mema, Shay had come up with the brilliant idea to make a two stone pendant necklace, I had picked two stones that had a lot of meaning to keep. We figured out what we had and what we could do with it. I had enough that I was able to make the custom pendant with necklace and look for a wedding band set!! Shay listened to my fiance and I, our likes and dislikes, she came up with the best two rings I had ever seen!! Needless to say, we have the perfect wedding rings, sizes and all, as well as a pendant and necklace that are totally perfect!!! So, as my fiance is wrapping things up with Shay, I had continued to walk around the store, that's when I met Ola Tarrab. I was just browsing around their displays, specifically their sapphire collection, as it's my favorite. Ola came over, introduced herself, and AGAIN I was offered help and assistance. I first visited the Gold and Diamond Source in Dec 2015 to purchase a pair of diamond jackets to match my wife's diamond stud earrings. Mr PAT KELLY was very knowledgeable of diamonds and very courteous and helpful to me. He selected a pair of diamond jackets that matched my wife's diamond studs both in quality and size. Needless to say my wife was very happy and surprised when she received her Christmas gift. I know I could have never selected such a beautiful and matching set of diamond jackets on my own. My next experience with GDS was in Feb 2016. My wife lost one of the diamond studs and jackets that I described above during dinner for Valentine' Day. When I entered GDS I was greeted by OLA and HALA. I wanted to replace the diamond stud and jacket. I thought for sure I would have to buy a pair of studs and a pair of jackets. OLA and HALA not only saved me money but produced a beautiful pair of diamond studs and jackets. They were able to match my wife's diamond stud in the 4 C's...color...clarity...cut..... size from their large inventory of loose stones, therefore, I did not have to purchase another pair of diamond studs just the one stud. As a result I purchased another pair of diamond jackets ( we were unable to match the original jackets) with larger stones than the original jacket and OLA and HALA gave me credit for the original jacket. Needless to say my wife was very surprised when she opened the beautiful box ( by the way the boxes GDS uses to package your purchase is a very high quality and attractive display case ) and saw the larger diamonds that surrounded the jackets. And as I stated earlier I was able to do this for less money than I expected because they were able to match the diamond stud. So I got more than I expected for less than I expected. As a result of these very pleasurable visits, in the past three months I purchased about a dozen pieces of jewelry, both men and ladies. HALA is like my personal shopper, she knows my tastes. I usually call her in advance to let her know when I will be in and what I am looking for and HALA will have selections ready for me. HALA is very pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable of all jewelry. GDS is the only place I will go to for jewelry. GDS is very good in issuing credit for your old gold or jewelry, in fact if you are making a purchase GDS will add 50% of your trade in to apply to your purchase. As far as I am concerned GDS has high quality jewelry ( I used to purchase my jewelry in the jewelry district in NYC ), reasonable prices and outstanding service. I have been going to Gold and Diamobud Source for a very long time and Mais is the best around! it started when My wife and I went to the Clearwater store on 10/12/15 with the intentions to look for a new ring for our 10 year anniversary. I purchased my wife's engagement & wedding band at Gold & Diamond Source 3.5 years ago from Mais Tarrab. Being the 1st time to make such a big jewelry purchase, Mais really took the time to figure out what I was looking for and ultimately we put together a unique combo by choosing a setting, a center stone, and wedding band that all came together perfectly! She was professional and worked with me to get the best price possible (all while having a great personality)! That is why when my wife hinted at a "push present" this week -- GDS was the first place I thought about - great selection & a wonderful experience. This time however my wife had some older gold jewelry that was no longer in style. Mais was aided by Hala Tarrab, who evaluated each piece, no matter how broken to identify what carat (14k or 18k) - the higher the carat, the more $$$. If you sell gold and purchase something else on the spot, they give you even more $$$ toward your new purchase (atleast as of the day of this post). It's almost like having a partial return credit at a place you didn't even buy the jewelry from :) The result -- I was able to trade in old jewelry for new jewelry and service -- they made it that simple!!! 2 bands with diamonds, and a Rolex watch repair (which in general, is not cheap, and I didn't feel like coming out of pocket). A fairly extensive search led me to them. Nowhere else would even try what I envisioned. By the time I arrived on their doorstep, only three weeks remained till the wedding, so I was worried. I didn't know any better and talked to their in-house engraver first, and wasted some more time doing that. (I learned I should have started with a sales consultant and proceed from there.) That's when Troy Weintraub stepped in and made things happen. He first diffused my rather pessimistic impatience (no small task), listened to what was important to me and why, then convinced me that he understood and would move heaven and earth to get it done. *****Quintessential customer service***** Some working the phones, overnight expressing, and one week later: Voila! - It was done! EXACTLY as I pictured it. Since he knew I wanted the engraving to really "pop", he even had their crew apply extra black once they received it back from the laser engravers. No one paid me to write it; unless you count being paid top-dollar for estate jewelry to someone who pulled in off the street compensation to write the best review possible because in my book these guys are the best. I went everywhere and you would not believe the offers I was getting. One guy was even yelling through his phone to his clerk (on speakerphone) how no one will pay me anything over what he was offering. Turns out G&DS paid me 120% over what this guy offered. The price is what it is when it comes to this type of merchandise, just check the internet for the prices, and understanding that retail has overhead I must say that I was pleased with the attitude that everyone has here. To begin with, Harvey actually quoted me the MARKET PRICE for PER GRAM, not a pennyweight price, much to my amazement. I really could not believe it, I had to double-check the numbers, and to prove it to myself, I went right next door to the IDC for one last place, to make sure I was not dreaming, and guess what, they were just like the rest, that wanted to pay me well under market value. I'm am giving Gold & Diamond Source 5 star for my experience for selling my gold jewerly to them. I went to the Gold and Diamond Source just to get a quote on my all my gold jewerly. I thought the Gold and Diamond Souce, were they really going to give me a fair deal? She weighed the gold measuring in grams and I left there with a deal of $888.00. Then I drove over the bridge to Tampa to Auther Yates. The nice lady weighed my gold and she weighed using the pennyweight method. Most people know the penny weight method is a lower value. She quoted me $690.00. I went back to the Gold and Diamond source and went to the same person. She reweighed my gold jewelry again and the weight was just slightly more than the first time we came in. We both don't know what really happened but I end up with $910.00 for my gold, $22.00 more. What I do know is that I made $220.00 more at the Gold and Diamond Souce than Auther Yates. I also forgot to say this, the weekend prior to this I went to Cash for gold and they weighed my gold using the pennyweight method and offered me $250.00. That's a $660.00 difference. Earlier this week I went with my boyfriend to shop for engagement rings. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a very friendly woman, Mais. Mais is a wonderful sales woman - I recently took a course "consultative training" and she would have be a perfect example for that course. She asked all the right questions... To me - what style I was interested in, shape of diamond, etc and to my boyfriend - budget! At first he was intimidated by ring shopping but because she was so warm and knowledgeable he loosened up easily. In just a couple short hours the three of us found and designed the perfect ring that will be so beautiful and unique! Love this place! There is no better selection anywhere for beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry. You have to see it to believe it! I am a repeat customer and tell all of my friends about them. Mais and Troy are who I typically work with. Their customer service is incredible. The store has 6-7 jewelers onsite and can do beautiful custom work without paying premium prices. They have loose stones of all shapes and sizes that they bring out to show you how the setting would look. We worked with Mais for my engagement ring, wedding band, and my husband's wedding band. I worked with Troy for earrings and a watch. I had a girlfriend in town from MI that I took there who has been searching jewelry stores all over for an antique looking diamond and sapphire engagement ring. She had almost given up hope. I sold some silver American Eagles bullion this week and it was THE most seamless and smooth metals transaction I've ever experienced. I got a fair quote around 1:30PM or so in the afternoon on Thursday, arrived around 3:30PM with my metal and was walking out the door with a check within 15 minutes. No muss, no fuss.....my rep, Kirk, was outstanding in handling the transaction and I even got to meet Julie Weintraub while there and she was so gracious, just like on TV! They admit that making a market in metals is more of a community service to them than a big money-making proposition, but they made it seem like it was just as important as selling the next diamond ring to me. I feel like I've found a dependable source with integrity that I can look to for future metals transactions if needed. The pricing was fair and it saved me the cost of insurance and shipping for an online sale, not to mention the time they saved me in waiting for an online settlement.
