Our table ordered a couple of double smashed burgers, chicken fried chicken sans the gravy and the Infamous liver and onions.. the chicken was enjoyed with the yummy mashed taters.... What is taters precious?? You know PO-Tay-toes... but I digress.. If you've never had liver before , it's an acquired taste, and one bite brought back a ton of memories... it was really good, panko bread crusted and served with a delicious brown gravy and browned onions... and of course Taters.... As good as the liver was, the star of the meal was the burger... I snuck a bite, and it is the best burger in Georgetown... it's is outstanding!! An instant favorite! Gold Burger Diner has been on my list to try since they opened, and we finally got up to Georgetown to try it this past weekend. A couple sandwiches sounded interesting, but I went with my gut, and ordered the Club. I appreciate that the sandwiches are sold a la carte, so they don't rope you into getting fries as well. A sandwich is borderline healthful, but adding fries is where it turns downhill. They accommodated my request to make the sandwich with double cheese instead of bacon. Since it's made with thick slices of Texas Toast, it didn't include a third slice of bread in the middle, which might offend some Club purists, but I thought the ratio of bread to filling was perfect. The bread was toasted perfectly, and the fillings hit just right. We came on a Saturday afternoon, during the market. We were after the lunch rush, but another rush happened when a rainstorm came in. We just beat it, and got our food in a timely manner while we watched the diner fill up. The place is new and clean, but achieves the feel of a classic old diner. We went today to get a burger and fries. The one glow I have is the burger was amazing! The one grow I have for them is that they should tell the customer they use Kaiser rolls. This is a seat yourself place (there's a sign outside the door) Staff were super friendly and helpful, refilled drinks promptly and brought to go boxes fast. My favorite place in town. I'm a sucker for diners and this one sucked me in. It's everything a diner should be and more. Checkered floors, juke box, bar stools that are always occupied. The food is way better than your average diner. The breakfast is good, burgers are fresh and tasty, fries are outstanding! We go a lot and the staff tries their hardest and it shows. They have weekly specials and the CFS sandwich is to die for. The place has a rich history and it's printed on their menus. It's also sparkly clean. Try it out, you will love it! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. My son had a double meat cheese smash burger and I had the liver and onions (OMG !!!). Mrs. Texas wanted breakfast but they stopped serving breakfast about 10 minutes before we showed up and they said they couldn't accommodate. I generally would knock off stars as it was only 10 minutes late, but our server was great and the owner/manager was very friendly. They get packed fast. Had breakfast recently. Wait was only 10 minutes which was great. The ambiance is adorable- like a diner from long ago. They need signage outside tho- nothing that I saw saying who they are. My friend and I shared a large stack of pancakes and each had an egg on the side and I had bacon. The pancakes are delicious, light and fluffy with good flavor. More than I was able to eat. The egg was fine and the bacon was good. Coffee is 'ok'. Seems no one here does a good dark roast. The waiter was accommodating and nice, but it did take about 30 minutes to get the food. That may just be them working out their processes. All in all, it's a nice little place, but with a very small menu. I'm going to go back and give their burgers a try at some point. Also- they are VERY reasonably priced. They are definitely worth giving them a try. read more

Unlike many restaurants we've tried in Georgetown which are overrated and overpriced, Gold Burger is delicious food for a good value. The chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes are delicious, one of the best in Texas, and the burgers are big and flavorful. We'll be back to sample more of the menu soon. read more

We order the short stack pancakes and a giant burger with a large order of fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the pancakes were over cooked. The fries were served hot and fresh but for some reason were super dry. I was so excited to try this place off the square. The front area is very inviting and looks like a proper diner. However, the farther back you go in the restaurant the less of a nice ambience you get. It feels a bit like eating in a crowded hallway. My husband ordered the Swiss mushroom burger. He wasn't thrilled about it. I got the fried chicken sandwich, and I felt similarly underwhelmed. Both came with a basil pesto mayo, which was sadly the only thing with any flavor. The rest of the sandwich had no flavor and desperately needed salt. Another no go for me was that both sandwiches had shredded iceberg lettuce - in my opinion, if I'm paying over $11 for a sandwich or burger it should have proper lettuce. Shredded iceberg just ain't it. We also ordered a plate of fries as that was extra. It was $4 for a pretty big plate of fries, but I think I would've preferred a basket or something more appetizing. The ketchup came in plastic containers, which also added to the McDonald's feel. The fries were good but very thin and I prefer fries that are a bit more exciting at a restaurant. Lastly I ordered a mimosa which was served in a coffee cup. It wasn't very good to begin with but the coffee cup was just weird.... This was such a bummer of an experience. After being seated right at the opening of the kitchen and waiting about 13 minutes without seeing a server, I asked someone if there was a server assigned to our table. There seemed to be some discussion along the staff, deciding who wanted it. Tara came by and asked for our drink order, with no acknowledgement of the unusual wait time. To be fair, there were busy but there are only about 13 tables in the place and there were at least 4 servers on the floor. We asked to order everything as this was a road trip stop. Altho there is no mention of it on the menu, Tara informed me that the golden bowl was not available after 11am, but suggested that I could order the classic plate and add hash browns and cheese. I accepted. Waters and coffee were brought it he table with the announcement that they were out of creamer. Food was delivered to the table by a runner. Scrambled eggs are prepared more like over hard, but they were good. Bacon is also good. Hash browns were very greasy. Pancakes were overcooked and burned on one side. At the point, we just wanted to eat and get back on the road. We pushed our half finished plates to the edge of the table to indicate we were done and waited almost 15 more minutes to get a bill. The suggested modifications to my breakfast dish made a $12 meals into a $16.50 meal. I think the only difference was two slices of dry toast which I didn't want or eat. Maybe we just got them on a bad day, given that other reviews are so high. Or maybe it was a day with no leadership on the floor as I did not observe anyone who interacted in a way that management might. But this was rough and I have buyers remorse. read more

Been here twice now. Once for burgers when they opened and today for breakfast. I do agree with their food prices. However the rest of the town charges $5-$7/per mimosa or Bloody Mary. Gold Diner wants $10 per. I was expecting some large extravagant Bloody Mary and it was served with lemon and watery. My friend ordered a $10 mimosa and it was served in a half full cup. I came here for the first time on a Monday night, my husband came first and was NOT greeted, nor attended to. He finally was able to be seated when the waitress approached him. Me and my children and parents then arrived shortly afterwards maybe around 10 mins or so after my. husband arrived and we joined him at a table in the front of the restaurant. My expectations were immediately let down, when I noticed patrons staring in our direction. I felt I could not have a proper conversation with my own father facing him because young ladies at the bar kept turning around staring at us, and talking amongst themselves. They seemed in deep conversation with one of the bartenders or worker behind the bar. The atmosphere was very stifling and upsetting because this is 2025 and I'm a new Georgetown resident, from various states I've resided in and not once have I ever encountered this type of vibe anywhere. I suppose I should comment on the food, I was excited to try the meatloaf meal that was a special for the day, and unfortunately they ran out, so I ordered a burger and with a gluten free bun. I felt like the burger itself was dry for a smash burger. I also felt the food took awhile despite the fact that there weren't many ppl in the restaurant at all. The waitress was phenomenal and because of this she was tipped accordingly. over 30% on the bill. I was not pleased with the way ppl reacted, and from the prior reviews I see that it is encouraged by the staff and environment of the restaurant. The service has been not stellar.I usually sit in a booth and thought I'll try the bar hoping to get better service. Order taken and shows up quick exactly as ordered. We finally got to try Gold Burger diner and it was delicious. My son got the chili dog and I had the Gold burger standard. Their burger was hands down the best burger I've had in Georgetown. We also split the fries (they need to add onion rings to their menu) which honestly weren't the best, but the burger made up for them. Our service was excellent as well.
