Well-this time I was stranded with no way of getting something to eat. I was Doggo-sitting my son's 4 (YEP 4!!!) dogs Saturday /Sunday and by Sunday, mid afternoon -I was pretty hungry. My daughter-in-law had gotten a new refrigerator right before they left for vacation so there was barely anything in it. They have a wonderful pantry and I ate a Ramen out of the pantry Saturday night for supper but just couldn't find anything. I was hungry for in there on Sunday. Anyway, I was hunting some food to have delivered on Sunday. I had never even ordered takeout from any place in Taylor or Hutto and it took me a while to find something that could accommodate all my needs -but Randy's Icehouse to the rescue!! The first time I ate there I had my grandsons with me and we all had burgers along with some fries and onion rings we shared and everything was delicious and cooked to order. Yesterday, I chose a Chicken Fried Steak dinner with a baked potato , a side of mushrooms and a side salad. I enjoyed the CFS once I removed most of the breading (don't get me wrong. It was nice and crispy-I just wasn't in the mood for it) it was easy to remove, and the steak itself was cooked properly, there was cream gravy to go over it, and I ate it with my canned Mushrooms on the side. My Baked Potato was on the small side, but it was delicious and all the logical condiments like shredded cheese, sour cream, & butter were all included (in little cups) so I could use what and how much of those I wanted. It also came with a slice of Texas Toast and a Side Salad, which was freshly chopped lettuce with bacon, and croutons, and had the blue cheese dressing I had ordered on the side. Even without the breading on the meat, I was full before I ever made it to the Texas toast. I focused on the chicken fried steak, the gravy and the baked potato. It was all very good. Not sure why, but I didn't care for the mushrooms too much , I knew they would be canned, but they had a little bit of a tinny flavor so I ate a couple of those, but then left the rest. The blue cheese dressing was great, not sure if it was homemade, but there were small chunks of blue cheese evident, which I appreciated. Because I had filled up on my steak and potato I only ate about a third of the salad. The only thing I missed was the woman who was our server last time I went with my grandsons -as she was very pleasant and nice to talk to! I'm very grateful they were open on the Fourth of July weekend and even more grateful that Toast was able to deliver it to me out at my son's house-which I consider to be in the boonies -but then a lot of Taylor /Coupland area is! Looks like this is going to be my go to place if I need some good home cooking out that way!! If you haven't been it's worth the drive!!! read more

Must must must have their mozzarella sticks. Burgers was good. Fun energetic ambience. Great service for food. Tots were good but surprisingly I didn't like the fries maybe because they were little cold. And with this Cold weather they started surging chilli. They don't take reservations but they are quick at their service. Waitress responded to every thing with smile. I definitely recommend this place. The EnTitY here, Diabolical service (pretty decent). Malevolent cooking (only the best). Health codes rebelled against (legally no clue if this is true). I'd rate it 1/5 (5/5). Never seen such a hive of scum and villainy before (very nice people from Taylor Tx) almost to evil for my taste and that's saying something. But seriously loved this food and the vibe. The food was good me and my family all got wings and fries and it was the 8 dollar special witch made it pretty cheap for 4 people. Our waiter was very nice so good service. It feels like we've made a recent run of "dive" places. We'd been passing Randy's for years, and it never looked open or much more than a local bar. Surprise! It was a good place for lunch. Once we got inside, it had a rustic feel, and was quite a bit bigger than we'd imagined. The service was friendly and prompt too. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger, which was delicious (although I would have never guessed from the overall taste that it was "Mushroom Swiss"), and very reasonably priced. My SH had the kids grilled cheese, which came with fries (my burger didn't), which were quite good, tasty, and enough for the two of us. Very nice beer selection, including Guiness on tap, which was surprisingly good, and, again, reasonably priced. We'd go back. read more

We were looking for a bite after checking out the antique mall and decided to stop in. What a good move. The beer was served in frosted mugs, so cool and refreshing. The inside was clean, and well appointed. It has a comfortable lives in feel without being tired and worn out. The service was exceptional as was the food. Ww shared some chicken wings, crispy and tender. I had the patty melt with the onion rings (best rings I have had in a long time. We had to order a second basket, not cause we were that hungry, they were just too good to be true) and my GF had the chicken tenders. Huge moist pieces of chicken breast... sooo good. Drop in here when riding through Taylor. The effin burgers are one of the best. My go to is the hangover burger. Fired egg, bacon, lettuce tomato pickles and jalapeños. Delicious food! We weren't even drinking and still enjoyed the bar food so that should say a lot. The menu has a really great variety for a bar. The service was pretty good, friendly staff and quick turnaround on our order. Randy's is definitely old school in that the air is smoky, it's dark and dingy but in a cool, retro sort of way. Not so sure how clean it is though. Our table wasn't totally clean and from what I could see in the kitchen it seemed like an expected bar kitchen. Overall pleasantly surprised by the food here! The hangover burger was great (even not hungover) and the chicken tenders tasted homemade which was a great surprise. read more

It's a local place. Not the prettiest, but the food is hot and there's plenty of it. And you can wash it down with the beverage of your choice. The staff is friendly (as they should be in Texas ;D) and the service it great. So make sure you tip them, because they are worth it! read more

The chicken fried steak is made just how I like it. I ordered online and included a 15% tip for pick up. When I walked in, there wasn't anyone in front working. A woman walked out, almost right up to me, and turned around without acknowledging me. Then she had a vape and talked to some men at the bar, still not acknowledging me, so I went to her. She handed me a bag and said it was all in there. I drove off and realized that she didn't give me the tea I paid for, so I went back. I had asked for lots of gravy and croutons but didn't make any difference, and the gravy, although very tasty, was way too thick. If I hadn't enjoyed the steak so much, I would have given 2-3 stars. FYI, $2.60 for a medium glass of tea is too expensive. read more

The waitress with the tattoos level of service was horrible. She was not happy to serve me nor attentive to re-serve when I needed something. She just disappeared. I had to close out with the other person working that was actually working because my waitress just left end of shift. Usually a good waitress will say it's my end of shift so you want to close out or transfer your tab? Nope just walked out. When I did close out with the person that was actually working and attentive to customers I found out I had more drinks on my tab than purchased. Not much is open in Taylor on a Sunday night. By default, met a friend here for a beer & a bite. Was completely shocked at the food we received. I got a bacon cheeseburger w/ fries, and my companion got the chicken fingers w/ fries. Burger patty was fresh & obviously hand-pressed. Bacon was perfect, and veggies were on point. Bun had been thrown on grill & toasted to perfection. Seasoned fries were made to order & delicious. Chicken fingers were more like fillets. Four finger basket could've easily fed two, maybe three people. These fingers were not pre-made, frozen type you get everywhere. They had been hand battered & fried just right. The batter was crisp & delicate - not "chunky/clunky". Again, fries were great. Pricing was also a shocker! VERY reasonably priced for what you get. Frankly, I'd say it was cheap. Huge disparity between pricing & food quality. In short, check this place out! I'll definitely be back! read more

Food here is so delightful! they always have music going on. The dim light ambience with the bar and neon lights are always a vibe with the cracking of the pool balls goin on in the opposite side of the restaurant. The people who serve your food, take your order, even bartenders are always so dang nice and aren't afraid to help when you seem like you need something. I've seen all sorts of types of characters here, so don't think you have to be a biker to walk into this bar! Randy's is much more than a cool beer joint that serves great burgers. It's also a full restaurant that offers live music, pool and trivia. The staff is friendly and attentive and for the price, you get monstrous portions. My favorite part of the place hang on the walls: loads of mounted trophies. Worth the trip out the Taylor.
