During my second visit, I thought that my other tooth had a cavity, yet Dr. Mullenaux examined the tooth and determined that it was just a stain that needed no filling. Additionally, both times I felt grateful for the fact that everyone in the office was very respectful about my choice to decline preventative care (as a general rule, I go to a doctor only when there is a problem, and good nutrition is the only type of preventative care that I ever employ). Being a healthcare professional myself, and working in healthcare, I know how hard it is to find a doctor who is skilled, honest, and respectful of patients' choices. That first impression honestly made me want to move forward with them. Scheduling was smooth, and they were generally good about getting me in around my appointment time during the earlier visits. However, things started to fall apart when it came to pricing transparency. I went in for permanent implants (I already have existing dentures), and after my initial consultation, I was quoted around $51,000, which was nearly $20,000 higher than other places I had visited. Because of that, I decided not to move forward at first. Afterward, I received multiple calls and texts from their office, and we eventually negotiated a price. We verbally agreed, and they confirmed via text to a flat $32,000, and this included anesthesia. That number was in line with other quotes I had received, so I felt comfortable moving forward and scheduled a follow-up appointment to finalize everything, sign the contract, and make a payment. This is where my experience took a turn. I waited about 20 minutes past my appointment time, and while they did eventually acknowledge the delay, it wasn't until I had already been waiting for a while. During the contract process, they increased the anesthesia cost by an additional $3,500, even though anesthesia had already been included in the agreed-upon $32,000 total. After some back-and-forth, I reluctantly agreed to a revised total of $35,500 just to move things forward. Then things became even more concerning. The billing assistant left the room multiple times and came back with yet another change, an additional $2,500 for a zirconia upgrade. This was especially frustrating because zirconia was the only option we had discussed from the beginning and was part of the original plan. It appeared to have been removed from the revised contract, only to be added back in as an upcharge. At that point, the total had climbed about $6,000 above what we had already agreed upon verbally and via text. That lack of consistency and transparency didn't sit right with me, and I ultimately decided to walk away without moving forward. Overall, the staff was kind and the office made a great first impression, but the repeated pricing changes and lack of clear, consistent communication during the contracting process were too concerning for me to ignore.

I moved from Glendale to Florence a few years ago, but continued to drive the two hours each way to…read moresee the dentist we knew because we trusted him and he never peeled us for unnecessary work. After a time we decided that as much as we liked him, we needed to find something closer so we didn't lose a day each time we needed out teeth cleaned, or in case of emergencies. Ocotillo was considered because of their stellar reviews, so I set up appointments for my wife and daughter to get their teeth cleaned. They were my Guinee pigs before I went there myself. :-) They reported back to me that the girl at the front desk argued with my wife that she needed to have my daughters payment run through the insurance company even though my daughter wasn't covered as such and my wife was totally willing to pay cash. As soon as my wife finally gave in out of frustration and told her to give it a shot the girl acted all offended and said she couldn't do that as it is considered insurance fraud. This is what my wife had been trying to tell her so she was very confused. The girl then got into a dispute with my daughter over her age, refusing to believe her when she said she was 22. Not really sure what that was about. As soon as my wife went in, the dentist looked at the x-rays and without even looking into her mouth began telling her she needed a deep cleaning, crowns replaced, implants done etc etc. Our other dentist was REALLY good, and never tried to upsell us for things we didn't need. He even yanked her chain about doing cosmetic work she told him in no uncertain terms she wasn't interested in, asking her when he could get started. She was not happy. So I cancelled the follow up appointment she made as they told her they didn't have time to do all the necessary work that day and made an appointment with our previous dentist for a second opinion. If he says she needs that work done then fine, but as she goes to the dentist on a regular basis I would be shocked to find out that in the six months since her last visit her teeth have staged a revolt and need to be subdued to the tune of thousands of dollars.

I was very diligent about getting my cleanings & exams, but in 2019 I could no longer work and had no insurance. I lost my husband in 2020, and was very nervous about scheduling an appt this year. After leaving voice mail messages early July with no return calls, I worked up the nerve to drive by to see if they were still open. I thought that might be the case because the voice mail referred to Memorial Day which I found odd. I stopped in on TUESDAY July 6th, they were open, Taylor said Marie & Desiree were no longer there, but said she could get me in TOMORROW. She asked if I wanted a card & I said no, I was putting it in my calendar, but because I had bi-lateral hip replacements I needed a presciption for antibiotics prior to appt & it was going to be really tricky trying to get it filled so quickly. She gave me a prescription, I scrambled to get it filled so quickly, took pills the hour before my appt time, showed up for the appt, office was closed. Called 3 times before Taylor answered, she ARGUED with me that she tried to give me an appt card, she had it in the trash and it said the 8th, not the 7th. I guess the word TOMORROW doesn't mean what I thought it meant. I was angry because I took an antibiotic for no reason, I was not swearing, but she said I disrespectED her. I was so upset I re-scheduled for 2 wks later. I showed up, and Taylor tried to make a joke that she was surprised I showed up because she didn't think I wanted to see her again. Not wrong. My cleaning was with McKenzie who was also new, she was sweet but water was going down my throat & I had to sit up to cough up water at one point. I didn't feel like I got a great cleaning but just wanted to get out. Dr Roper did a quick look, did not address the tooth I was worried about, pushed for me to get a mouth guard & rushed out. While still in the chair, McKenzie offered to schedule my next cleaning. She actually said "Six months would bring us to JANUARY 31ST, but we might be closed because of NEW YEARS EVE." I was shocked & slightly insulted, but I kindly told her she was off a month. She put an appt card in the normal dental goody bag. Taylor was not at the desk as I was leaving but I just wanted to get out of there & left. As I was driving home, Taylor called & said I failed to make my payment. I stopped back in later that afternoon. She said I did not give my insurance information, and I told her she had made a copy of my card back on the 6th. She looked & said she did have that. I showed her my appt card, and asked what date does this say? It showed 1/3/22. She read it to me as ONE THREE TWENTY TWO. I asked what date am I scheduled for? She said one THIRTY one. I said to cancel whatever appt I had & to have the Dr call me. Angela the manager called me, then Taylor who apologized saying she didn't realize how upset she made me. I asked for referrals to another office. To this date, I have not recieved any referrals or a call from Dr Roper. Dr Scheerhorn & Marie are no longer there, and this is definitely not the attention to detail that I have been accustomed to & a faithful patient of this practice, and have recommended in the past. Sad and extremely disappointed.

I found Dr Birch on instagram search for dentists that do exceptional veneers, and other cosmetic dentistry and if you check out his instagram account you will see his incredible before and after pictures. Ive been here three times now, and they have all been great experiences! This office is absolutely beautifully new, and spotless. Each one of the staff members is very sweet and personable. As a new patient to Gallery Dental Studio, and as somebody who has not been to a dentist in longer…read morethan I would like to admit, I was not sure what to expect but I knew that my health is most important and it was time to tackle my fears. My anxiety was through the roof around this experience, and everyone in this office has been so kind, patient, and understanding of my anxious situation, and their friendliness has really helped to put my nerves at ease. Dr. Birch is awesome and explains in great detail everything that he is seeing on the x-rays and photos, and he even thoroughly explained to me step-by-step what he was doing in the procedure to fix my old fillings. The office itself is beautiful and super modernized. Each patient room has its own television for the patient to watch Netflix during procedures. They also have popular music playing throughout the office so you can jam out during shorter visits. Can't forget about the beautiful entryway that greets patients and includes cold water and even a Keurig coffee maker. They make you feel at home as much as possible!
