Went here to get my wide leg slacks hemmed. Same slacks I had hemmed in downtown last year - the problem was the downtown tailor probably used the wrong thread or wrong stitching because it came off right away after 1 use. The fabric is really soft so pretty sure you'll need it hemmed properly. They have a changing room with full size mirror and they measure to you so you get the correct length. Found this when I was looking through options as I know I'll be in the area that day. It takes a few days but I didn't need it right away and told them I can pick up 2 weeks after. Paid $20 but it's worth it as the hem stayed on. Would recommend for more complicated stitching or fabric. read more

My partner and I are shorter and have always had issues with length and proportions of clothes off the rack. Mr. Kim has skillfully altered the length of several pants and dresses (of various fabrics, including silk, linen, and denim) so that they fit perfectly. He's also done more complicated work for us, including taking in the seat of my partner's jeans and shortening the cross back straps of a silk bridesmaid dress. Hems are always stitched evenly and cleanly and even better than some of the department store clothing that I've brought to him. You get what you pay for with Mr. Kim and his skill, professionalism, and service really shows. We went in to get 2 suits and a wedding dress tailored for our wedding. Everything came out beautifully, and we want to especially highlight one suit. Mr. Kim fixed my fiancé's Armani suit. The arms on the suit had to be resewn completely so that there was no buckling excess fabric when the arms are held straight against the body. My fiancé also has very long arms, and one arm is 1/2 inch longer than the other. He fixed the sleeves so that it fit my fiancé's arm length. I really hate giving low ratings to small businesses because as a small business owner myself, I know how these reviews can impact a business. But I also believe in being honest about negative interactions to inform potential customers. This was my first time going to Gold Finger Tailor, and I was looking forward to trying them as I saw all the good reviews. I went in with 3 dresses to be shortened for my friend's wedding weekend. I put on my bridesmaid dress and needed some help closing it. The woman working came over and closed it, but kept saying "too tight, too tight." The tailor came over and put his hand in the back of the dress to check for room, and when he felt room he goes "it's fine." The wedding is in a week and literally the last thing I want to hear is a dress is too tight when it is not. He chalked up the dress for me and I put on the second one to be shortened. This I also needed help zipping because it is a corset dress and is supposed to be tight in the chest and waist. I bought it this morning and the sales associate zipped it up and informed me that these dresses always need a second hand with zipping it because they are so tight. As I needed help again, the woman came over and again goes "too tight, too tight." The woman and tailor kept saying "zipper is broken" and then the tailor said in Korean to the lady something I didn't understand but kept saying "cheap, cheap." He tried to tell me that i needed panels on the side of some material that was similar. I explained to them that the sales associate literally had just put it on me and they just needed to pull the fabric together and zip. Then, they said "no no zipper broken and walked away leaving me with my dress half open. I took it off and checked the zipper. Sure enough it zipped up just fine. I was so upset by this interaction that I grabbed my dresses and decided to walk out, even though I desperately need them shortened in time for the wedding. As I'm walking out, I say "im sorry but I have to go, I don't want to go forward with this." The tailor then grabs my bridesmaid dress and pulls it from my bag and keeps saying "chalk!" As if I need to leave it with him or pay for him taking 20 seconds to chalk up my dress. I tried to remain polite, but at this point I'm practically fighting with him to get the dress out of his hands so I can leave. It was the most uncomfortable situation. This whole thing was extremely upsetting and now I'm on the hunt for a tailor who can do the work well while being respectful and kind. I don't think that's asking too much. read more

I have never gone to a tailor before, but when I needed a dress hemmed for an event two days before, I looked up tailors on Yelp and stumbled upon Gold Finger Tailor and read all the amazing reviews. The shop was empty though you could see that Byung Ho has a lot of customers from the number of garments he had hung up to work on. He worked very quickly to assess what I needed. I went to the dressing room to try on my dress and he even had heels for me to help figure out the right length to hem off. He seemed to have a lot of expertise and helped advise areas that would need more hemming than other sections. I paid $60 for the hem job which was more than I was expecting to pay, but for the quality of his work and the speed, it was worth it. When I left, he also gave me a huge bottle of hand sanitizer and said "this is for you to keep in your car"! Which was very sweet and endearing. I would recommend more people get their clothes tailored here. read more

These were not just cut and sew jobs, I asked them to relocate the abrasion resistant material and the double knees too, Not an easy job with all the double stitching and double material used. Needed a rush alteration for my tuxedo for a wedding. Called Gold Finger and Mr. Kim told me he could meet my short deadline (two days). There's a parking lot right in front of the storefront, which seems to get busy during peak hours but I was able to find a spot quickly on drop off and pick up. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kim are kind and professional and you can tell they are very experienced. Mr. Kim marked my tux for alterations while also calling out notes for Mrs. Kim to write down at the same time. Language barrier is the one "downside" as a non-Korean speaker but Mr. & Mrs. Kim are patient and, as I already mentioned, kind. So it's not really too difficult to communicate with them. Price was not cheap, but I was looking for fast and quality, so I'd say price was fair. Especially considering the job well done and the rush job completed on schedule. read more

I'm gonna give a very honest review. Found this place on yelp couple weeks ago, came in and it was WAY more expensive than I expected. If you want them to check your sizes ($40) they brought my suit pants up one inch and jacket down one inch and charged me $120 and it took a week to do. That's EXPENSIVE. Secondly, they don't speak a word of English. So when I went to pick up my suit I was dissatisfied with the tailoring, yet there was such a language barrier that after 20 mins, I just left as an unhappy customer. I don't understand how a business is open in the same place for decades but cannot communicate with what the customer wants, and has prices like these. You can find cheaper, English speaking tailors in the area that will do a better job. Trust me! read more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I can't explain how awful but I'll try. Let's see... they eat at the exact place they handle customer's clothing, the shop reeks of food every time. They overcharge and rip you off, and hastily demand payment or try to upsell you. They ruined my fiancée's wedding shirt, which is now covered with brown/pale yellow stains, which I only noticed when I got home, AND brown spots and a tear on the pattern of my brand new $1000 wedding dress that had original tags on it. If you mention this to them, they immediately get defensive rather than addressing the issue. Ultimately, she told me under her breath that it must've been "caught" on something, then with no apology she took it and tried to fix it. I was baffled. Prior to this, they don't inform you that once you alter one part, you may have to alter another then it's a never ending cycle. They will still charge you up the ass when they made the mistake of not informing you or giving you a heads up like a professional should. They are greedy for money, have no customer service skills, so they will gaslight you and talk crap about you when you're in the changing room that's 2 feet away. They took no responsibility. Please trust the bad reviews on their page. I went to them out of convenience but they should be shut down. I will make sure I mention this to anyone looking for alterations, because they've been such a nightmare to deal with. They don't care at all about customer's precious wedding outfits, so they will surely not care about anything else. They ruined everything, I want to cry. Never again will I step foot in their filthy shop. RESPONSE TO OWNER: Concerning the dress, your wife admitted that it must've been hooked on something because she knew that it was not in that condition when I brought it in. She also touched my dress with dirty hands while she took a bite of her food on more than occasion. Thanks for proving my point that you don't take any responsibility. Given that it was a $1000 dress, I inspected every inch of at home and also when I tried it on at your shop then left it there with you. It had original tags and was BRAND NEW. The part where you ruined it, is on the main side of the dress, completely noticeable and hard to miss. Also, you didn't charge for the 1 inch because you didn't alter it the way it was discussed and the dress was still too long. Don't make it seem like you did me any favors. Regarding the straps on my dress - that's what I asked for and you told me it should be fine, and exactly to my point, you did it in a way that made the bust area hollow. Why would you have reduced that area if it wasn't necessary? Then you proceeded to yell at me and that you'll just change the straps back to where it was, which made no sense. Judging by your unreasonably defensive response, you KNEW what you did. When I told you that then it defeats the whole purpose of me bringing it in and waiting all this time, you told me it'll be extra $60 to fix it. You call yourself a "professional" and a tailoring "expert"? You made it obligatory to pay for YOUR mistake. Yes, I'm meticulous and if you read my post thoroughly, you'd know that I had noticed the stains on my fiancées shirt when I got home. You're right, maybe I shouldn't have trusted the quality of work and checked it on the spot. You are an absolute crook. I should get a refund for all the damage and headache you caused. There are people with similar experiences, including disgusting food or God knows what STAINS on their clothes.
