One of the best pub style restaurants I've ever been to. Great food, reasonable prices. Sandwiches are generous, creative, and delicious. The big salad is more than enough for two. Traditional thin crust greasy pub pizza is exactly what I want when I've want pizza. Good selection of beer and drinks--the $5 pickleback is not to be missed. And, to save the best for last, the best chicken pot pie you'll ever have--a real two crusted pie, not a bowl of stew with philo dough on top. Service is extraordinarily friendly, but can be slow during busy times. But who's in a hurry? One of the best signs of a restaurant is whether the locals eat there, and we do. Had a great time this morning! Needed a bite to eat after driving around and grabbed a grilled cheese. Big portion, two kinds of cheese and tasty bread, definitely kept me going! They are a fixture and have stuff all over the place from years past. Like another commenter said, more of a watering hole than a general store, but they had great food and drinks and did have some historical items to buy about the area. The women working was super nice and cooked a fine grilled cheese. The crowd was nice and were kind to my senior dog. I'll be back next time I'm around! read more

The Gold Hill Store is like taking a step back in history to the 1880s. It's a rustic, homey and friendly town gathering place. It has become a destination for visitors both local and out-of-town. ( Also, for local cyclist.) It has a full bar, coffee choices, and an assortment of baked goods. Their pizza is a customer favorite. If it's winter, to sit by the pot belly stove with a beverage is catharic. If it's the weekend, there will probably be music in the evening. Check it out!! read more

There's something special about Gold Hill and at the center of it all is this place. One part general store, two parts bar and restaurant, and in all ways the heart of town, the general store is integral to the community. We love it here and we visit often, running errands in Boulder and then taking Sunshine Canyon up toward the mountains and home. You can order pizza and sandwiches pretty consistently. Sometimes there are quiches or desserts available. You can usually get a magic bar. The bar is pretty well stocked for such a small town and though you'll pay a little more for the privilege, this is a great place to get a drink and have a conversation. They also sell snacks, basic household items, and basic bike supplies (lots of cyclists come through Gold Hill). A special place worthy of your time. read more

Locals don't go here. New non-local owners bought the place during the 'demic and immediately built an illegal band stage structure and structures to hide porta-johns behind the place with zero Boulder county permits. Since then, they regularly clog up the town and streets with out of town visitors that have zero respect for the people that live here by parking up the town, including on county roads, which is illegal per county code. Gold Hill is NOT zoned commercial, it's zoned residential. Gold Hill is not a park or place to come to 'do as you damn well please'. Please don't come up here if you can't respect the area and it's residents. read more

The Gold Hill General Store is a must stop when in Gold Hill! They have delicious sweets, quiche & magic bars for brunch food if you stop in early in the day. They also have amazing homemade pizzas (take n bake or cooked onsite), paninis and delicious specials of the day. They have a wide selection of beers, wine, mixed drinks and sodas. Service is friendly & casual. Friendly dogs are welcome. Relaxing, sunny porches in the front and back. Highly recommended this small town store. Please drive slow through town. read more

After a snowshoe stroll in Sunshine Canyon at Bald Mountain, we needed lunch and rather than return down to Boulder, we continued up the canyon to Gold Hill. I rarely go up to Gold Hill in the winter. I am a big fan of the town's primary summer eatery so I usually am having dinner there. But the General Store has a nice cafe in addition to general supplies for purchase by locals and visitors alike. It is a popular destination for cyclists doing the steep ride in the summer, as two in our party have done before. But I am not capable of such a ride. We were the only customers on this post holiday, very cold, day. The staff of one, was super friendly and helpful, and she heated up our selections. They were quite tasty. Among us, we were served some chicken green chile, a slice of quiche and a slice of chicken pot pie. I had the chili, and though a soup consistency, was very tasty. This and the other selections were enjoyed by the rest of the party as were the herbal teas and bhakti chai with almond milk. Yes, it is that kind of place. We sat by the wood stove, the only source of heat, which was finally revved up by the time our food came. We had gotten there just after opening so the place was still a bit chilly. Very quaint place and it can be very busy in the summer though only one other customer, a local, came in while we there. read more

Interesting little store. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. We stumbled across this store when we were driving up in the mountains in Boulder. This little store is heated by an old school wood heater and there are little odds and ends that can be purchased here. We noticed there were some homemade pies that looked inviting. We tried two beers we've never heard before and just sat by the fire. This is a good place to stop in while up in the mountains. read more

We are Gold Hill residents and feel so lucky to have the Gold Hill Store on main street (in Gold Hill, not Boulder). The Gold Hill General store is a mix of bakery and small-town general store and does a great job of both. The staff is super friendly. You can get a freshly baked pizza and a beer or a glass of wine, or a slice of homemade quiche, or even gluten-free berry pie. All are delicious. They also have a small selection of food items like organic milk, so if we forgot something we don't have to drive to town for it. On weekends, the place is packed with cyclists having a snack, and there are always a few locals having a beer on the porch. Behind the store, there is a lovely casual little outdoor seating area with a stage, and indoors there are tables gathered around a stove. Both spots are perfect for the occasional live music acts that play here, such as our favorite, Foxfeather. read more

So....this is not really a general store. They recently changed their sign to read "pub" instead of "store," and you can indeed buy a beer during the few hours they are open. They have a coffee menu too. You really can't buy anything useful here (NO toothpaste, snacks, asprin etc), just locally-made tea and jade jewelry. It's old, dusty, cluttered and it's been for sale for as long as anyone can remember, asking more than anyone is willing to pay for this tiny old dusty spot. There's a neat old wood-burning stove that serves as the heater (it's a very old building) and the mismatched tables, benches and chairs seem as old as the town itself. I was a little scared to check out the bathrooms, honestly. It's kinda neat to stop in for a beer if in the mountains, passing by and see that they're open, and they do have live music sometimes. They started doing a Pizza Night on Fridays but it seems that they kinda stopped, which is okay because the pizza was cooked who-knows-when then just sitting out on the counter (though they kindly offer to microwave it for you.) Just don't expect this to be a store, or a pub. It's not really much of anything right now. The Gold Hill General Store has been the destination of many of my dirt-road bike rides over the years; it's also a good stop after a Brainard Lake or Switzerland Trail adventure. The quiches and stews are usually excellent, but can be a bit inventive --- the corn-and-jalapeño quiche on my last trip was excellent, and nicely spicy. There's one microwave, so hot food comes out one dish at a time; similarly, hot drinks are one-at-a-time. The roster of counter-workers over the years tends to be a mix of artists living in VW buses, New Zealand or Australian visitors, and lots of sunny dispositions. Seem like a pretty good thing to do for a while. The stuffed and mounted golden eagle above the bookshelf was a bit tired 20 years ago --- it's getting downright decrepit nowadays. The wood stove does a fine job of keeping things warm in the winter, if well-stoked; that's true most, but not all, days. Water's scarce up here --- it's polite to follow the helpful signs in the bathroom and conserve a little. One of my favorite little stops up in the mountains. read more

I love this joint which is like a backwoods grocery store from Mayberry. They have everything from booze to batteries and can make you a mixed drink or serve you a piece of pie, anytime. The porch is full of locals and the food is fantastic. I really recommend the quiches. And my friend had the breakfast sandwich which he rated very highly. My only complaint is that when the man served me my quiche he brushed off a silverfish from the slice he was giving me and that was really gross. Enough to make me not want to return. But it's the Deepwoods and you get what you came for: rustic, crazy wild and authentic. I'm still giving it four stars because of the crazy good baked goods, although generally I think vermin make a restaurant fall off the map read more

LOVE the Gold Hill store!! Every time Our family is in town we eat at least 1 meal here. It's the general stores of a by-gone era but with wifi!! The quiche is very good and I always get a slice of whatever variety is available.
