After a nice Sunday morning gym workout, I was craving a protein-heavy brunch to get me through the day. Also having lived in the South I was very curious to see how this creole cafe was. Sure enough, it was very impressive with matching festive decor as well. I ordered cheesy grits and had it with the pan fried trout. Then Beignets: Homemade New Orleans style donuts! Nice. Wonderful consistency and very easy to eat. Then Eggs Pontchartrain: Fresh pan fried mountain trout, poached eggs, sauce béarnaise. Served with grits and huge buttermilk biscuit! The béarnaise sauce made it simply heaven. I can taste it now. The "jams on the table are delicious. Like the blue berry a lot. Syrup for French toast is to die for. A side of andouille goes well anytime. I will say we had at the table grits and some cheese grits. Personally I like the regular grits better. Eggs Benedict was fantastic and the Virgin Bloody Mary was just as good. The beignets were tasty, though we wished we'd asked for jam or sauce on the side. We loved the house-made hot sauce so much we bought four bottles to take home. We sat outside where a ton of wasps joined us for brunch, but we got used to them. We were basically feeding them by the end of the meal but they were gone by the time the bill came. Smh. Terri was our server. She was so friendly and wonderful all around. We were visiting our eldest son and visited the Erie Colorado Lucille's. We had previously visited the one in Boulder CO. They are always busy and yet the service and food are always on par and very good. The tables and such are a bit crowded together and the noise level is significant but it is not intolerable. We live in Erie and come here a lot because we like the food but the last two times we have been have been the worst experiences. The first time we asked to sit outside and they sat us out there without telling us there was a major bee infestation. Ended up getting stung. Had to take all our own food inside and the waiter tells us after the fact that him and 3 other servers had been stung that day. ‍ Went again today and our waitress got our order wrong and when I told her it was wrong she was SO rude. And then was rude the rest of the time. She sighed and talked under her breath as she walked away. I don't think I've ever had a waitress be that rude before. Personally, I'm a huge fan of their breakfast options, so much so that I haven't ventured into trying their lunch menu. My all-time favorite is the Creole Omelet, with spicy sausage and diced ham in creole sauce. I have fond memories of devouring the entire plate during my pregnancies, but these days, I'll keep half of it to enjoy at home. On my last visit, I opted for the Cheese Omelet with a mix of white cheddar, muenster, and ricotta cheeses. I added bacon for an extra $4, but it turned out to be a bit too thin and fatty for my liking. That brought my dish to $17, and I've decided to skip the bacon next time, as the omelet would have been plenty yummy on its own. I always get the potatoes, they're among the best I've ever had. I also appreciate that they have an espresso machine. My cappuccino hit the spot, and my friends loved their Chai and hot chocolate. No iced tea or coffee though. Lastly, the service was very friendly, although they really embrace the New Orleans style, not doing separate checks. Today, parking was an issue since most of the roads were closed for a neighborhood run and a community trick-or-treating event for kids. For arriving around 9am at a place that opens at 7am, the inside of the restaurant was packed. There were people outside with coffee mugs waiting for indoor seating so I assumed it would take a long time for us to be called, but since we took the option to be seated outside, we were seated right away. Chicory Coffee (black): Easy drinking coffee alternative with low acidity, smooth body, and earthy taste Beignets: Large-sized and completely covered in powdered sugar! A little inconsistent on shape but it adds to the charm of the experience. We requested house-made apple and strawberry-rhubarb jams which were absolutely delicious! Eggs Eisenhower (Your choice of two eggs and your choice of grits with additional protein add-ons; comes with a generous portion of a house-made biscuit): Perfectly poached eggs over a runny-style of cheesy grits. I really appreciated that the cheese didn't overwhelm them flavor of the grits or thicken the consistency. My family have eaten at this Lucile's location a number of Sunday mornings for breakfast. The food, service are both five star. The restaurant is in a small house that can be challenging to carry on a conversation with your party, it can be noisy when everyone is talking.There is a patio weather permitting that is great. On a Sunday there is ample parking at the closed Post Office diagonally across from the restaurant if street parking is limited. read more

Very basic food with Very limited selection and no kids menu. Been here twice. Food is OK, nothing special. Last time they sat 2 parties of 4 and a party of 2 before our party of 5.. Then they jammed us inside on a table that had been clean and open for 20 minutes. While outside they sat parties of 4 at a double table that seats 6 easily. The place is tiny inside and VERY LOUD and echos. To make it worse they turn up the music. I miss the old Rose Cafe that was here... Lucille's is a breakfast staple. There's a bunch of locations around CO and we've visited quite a few, but Erie is our fav. Their biscuits are the best around. So flaky and crumbly with the most delicious buttermilk taste. I'd give those biscuits 5 stars on their own. The sausage gravy is also really tasty. If you enjoy creole/Cajun flavors there are so many great options on the menu. We really come here for the biscuits and everything else is a nice bonus. In Creole, "bon gou manje" means delicious food. At least that's what Google translate told me when I was searching how to describe Lucile's Creole Cafe! We stopped in on Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. When we arrived, the cafe was still very popping but there was a few tables open. We got seated, immediately. For two hungry cats, this was AHH-MAZING! Next, we were greeted by a delightful waitress. She explained what their chicory coffee was, and even though we passed on it, she still brought us a lil' taster of the famous coffee. I did not taste it, but my husband said he'd order that next time! He liked the mellow taste of it. It was "a smooth sipper" as he put it. When we ordered, I expressed to the waitress it was my first time. She happily went through the menu with me: listing her favorites, as well as, informing me that I could do a half order of some of the meals. I thought this was amazing news! I love Southern food, but a big loaded meal of it just leaves me feeling blah. Granted, I could eat less but if I order it... I'll eat it all. So, I took her up on this offer. I got a half order of their french toast with a side of their gravy to eat with a biscuit. WOWZA. It was such a solid move, and make it yourself sample platter of what the restaurant can offer it's consumer. I LOVED IT! The biscuit was fluffy inside, while having a crispy outside. The gravy was creamy, spicy and a MUST HAVE dipper for your biscuit. While my main course, the french toast was out-of-this-US-continent! It was clearly made with a long lost tradition that no Betty Crocker cookbook or viral tik tok has unlocked, yet. I'm saving the best for last, though. The cost of our entire meal was less than $40. Came here for brunch with an old friend. It's a very cute location with plenty of street parking. The service is also nice. In terms of food, they give large portions so my friend and I were able to share. Particularly the assorted fruit, it came huge! In terms of flavor though, I found everything to be average. The oats needed more flavor as did the sausage and beignets. But, coffee was good and fruit was fresh. Overall I'd return if I am in the area, because the prices aren't bad, to try something else. If I do return, I'll get a dish that has more substance like a hearty egg dish to explore more of the restaurant's flavor profiles. read more

We came in for a hockey tournament this weekend and are always looking for great local Restaurants. We were told by numerous people that we had to try Lucile's. We were immediately impressed as we pull up. The place is buzzing as we walk up. Terri the host is like a breath of fresh air. She immediately Greets us and asks us some fun questions about us and where we wanted to seat. She was extremely outgoing and you knew she loved her job. Nicki was our Server she also came to us almost immediately and greeted us and got our order going. Nicki was very attentive and gave us some awesome recommendations. Ok to the food which is what everyone wants to know. The Beignets are extremely good and if you don't order those you have made a mistake. Super lite and fluffy and almost melt in your mouth. The Latte's are amazing they are served in these huge coffee cups. So Fun makes you feel like you're in a small coffee shop. Ok Food like real food! I got the biscuits and Gravy. The home made Sause was delicious. So much meat in the gravel it's basically a meal on its own. The Biscuit is the size of a coffee plate. The biscuit is soft and fluffy and was delicious especially with the Gravy. My wife ordered the Omelette and Grits. She loved it and raved about the side of Fresh fries covered with cheese called Gumbo Fries. Such a fun unique place and we would highly recommend. We love to support small businesses like this. We didn't make reservations but we were seated in a timely fashion for a Friday morning! I don't remember our waiter's name but she was marvelous. Always checked on us to make sure we were doing okay. The other staff were very great about checking on us too. The food was delish!
