Highly, highly, highly recommend Arthur. Can't say enough about how knowledgeable and professional he was. But I'll try for both of these areas. **Knowledge: I needed a handyman with creative problem solving skills as well as basic plumbing and electrical. Hard to find that combo. Many handyman said I would have to hire three people. Hired Arthur last week to remodel two bathrooms and help with other general issues before new tenants moved into my Cambridge condo. He first helped my father and I remove toilets, vanities, cabinets, and lights from the bathrooms. He was great at working alongside my father and I and teaching us as he went, since we could do basic removal of items. We bought new items for the bathroom and he installed them quickly, giving us options for installation as he went along. He hooked up the plumbing and even made adjustments quickly when it conflicted with my new cabinets. He hooked up new lighting and moved the outlet to a new location. He helped me fit a flat lighting kit into a tough corner space by bringing his own piece of stained wood and cutting it to fit, and moved the outlet box, perfectly. I also had him install a track lighting kit, fix my kitchen sink, apply caulking to the shower, and look at my fan. He knows his stuff. He even would swing by Home Depot on the way to my condo and pick extra things up to help the job. He also had a full set of tools and allowed my father and I to use them so we could all be working at the same time. **Professional: It's very hard to find both a skilled and professional/communicative handyman. I had read that Arthur used to be a financial analyst so I knew he would be organized and responsive, and indeed he was. He emailed and called and texted with updates - very helpful. He even came back a few days later when I needed help, and didn't charge me for the full amount. Very trustworthy. I'll be using him again! read more

Arthur came by my apartment in the South End to mount a TV to the wall in my bedroom, hang some light sconces, and install some closet lights. It was entirely refreshing to work with someone who was on time. Arthur has an excellent work ethic and an amazing eye for detail. While installing my TV mount, he noticed a large hole in the wall left by previous tenants and he quickly patched it up without a word. While hanging the light sconces, he noticed that a picture frame I had on the same wall was not level and he corrected it. His craftsmanship is flawless. He finished in exactly 2 hours and I was very impressed by all that he got done for me in this short time. I am all ready thinking about other projects I can have him come back and do. I hired Arthur to do a lot of work for me over a number of weekends recently in Medford and in Woburn.  I keep going back to him because he does such a great job! He helped me prepare a rental property for tenants to move in.  He installed an over-the-stove microwave, removed and boxed a large stair lift machine, fixed outlets, replaced hard-to-reach light bulbs, repaired a stuck closet door, did touch-up painting... you name it. His rates are very reasonable.  As he worked, I kept finding more and more tasks for him to do.  A lot of the stuff I can do myself, but Arthur has the tools and equipment to do it faster.  Arthur is a godsend for my honey-do list! He also helped me put together a 3-person sauna.  It was an all-day job, and it took a few hours just to unbox everything.  When we realized that one of the walls had a manufacturing defect, I was worried I'd have to wait for a replacement part from California.  Arthur saved the day!  He found a way to fix it so that everything went together and I could enjoy the new sauna that same evening. Arthur is great for jobs big and small.  He is easy to get ahold of, knowledgeable, well prepared, and diligent.  He is my go-to handyman for my house and the rental property. Just today he built me an extra wooden shelf top to go in my living room. He built it at his workshop and delivered it this afternoon. While moving patio furniture I broke the single pane glass window of the exterior door in my apartment. I had a lot of trouble finding someone to take on a small job last minute. I came across Arthur's profile on yelp, crossed my fingers and hoped he could help. I got an email back very quickly and a follow up call to set up a day for him come by. He kept in contact with me via email and sent a text letting me know he was going to be arriving shorty. Overall this was an excellent experience. Arthur was very nice and professional. Arthur is AMAZING! I contacted him to remove a vanity, large mirror, and lighting fixture in my bathroom and to install new pieces. He was responsive and very thorough, asking for specific pictures of things to know what the work would entail. The work took a total of a day and a half, and the end result is fantastic. Everything was installed meticulously and Arthur even disposed of the old fixtures for no additional charge. He was constantly in communication with me throughout the process, and was very upfront about any additional work that needed to be done (such as filling the massive hole that was discovered behind the mirror). Arthur's best attributes are definitely his honesty and his willingness to help. I never once questioned any of the things he recommended doing, and his pricing was great. He definitely undercharged us (which we told him!) but having a handyman as great as he is is almost priceless. I've had bad experiences getting work done before, and I am so thrilled to have found Arthur. My mom was also in town while Arthur was here, and several times he heard us talking about removing something or another job we were working on. Following a move, he's helped me relocate heavy furniture and an appliance, repaired a damaged cabinet and fixed a broken sliding door, among other tasks. I hired Arthur to fix a door frame in my apartment that was damaged and completely off of the walls due to the door being kicked in (ugh!). I sent him a few pictures and described what the damage was and he came prepared with all of the materials and tools he needed on the day of the repair. It was (in my opinion) not an easy repair and he was able to complete it in just a few hours, he even took a look at my kitchen cabinet that had come off of the hinge, and was sort of hanging there, and did a quick fix for no extra charge that is still holding up after several months (no thanks to my landlord!). I wish I had hired Arthur sooner and for other projects. He hung pendant lights in my kitchen. Of course I order from Amazon and they weren't exactly perfect, but he made them work and they look fantastic! He also hung some large mirrors for me. I asked Arthur to replace an interior door in the most cost efficient way possible. The wood in the frame is old and somewhat warped which made it a real challenge to get the new door to fit properly. Arthur did an excellent job for us installing several window well covers on a brick house. Incidentally, the fact that the job involved a brick house meant that it was a less than straight forward project because brick requires special care so that it doesn't crumble, etc. Moreover, brick requires a powerful drill and special screws/anchors. That said, Arthur came fully prepared with several types of drills, screws, anchors, and other tools/supplies, and did a really great job on short notice. In short, I found Arthur to be responsive, courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and skilled. Also, his rates were very reasonable. He did an OK job, but the fact that he requires a 2 hour minimum at $55/hr is a little expensive and over priced especially since he is not a skilled tradesman, I feel he kind of takes advantage of naive clients who are willing to spend top dollar for mediocre service. He did a job for me last summer and it now needs to be redone, we trusted many reviews from this site and unfortunately they did not live up to our expectation.
