Mary Sandler was terrific throughout the design process and Logan Barker managed the construction through and after completion exceptionally well. Pushing for a high quality product consistently drove Logan's efforts on our behalf. He's courteous, professional, knowledgeable, easy to work with and always reachable. Highly recommend. This is the worst pool service we've ever hired to clean our pool. The third time they came out to clean, they backwashed the filter and didn't add filter powder. In addition, I called the guy that actually cleaned the pool and he told me he was out of filter powder and chlorine due to being the last scheduled appointment that day. Poor excuse. Now I'm being harassed for payment. This company never answers their phone, they use AI. On a scale from one to ten, their communication skills and customer service are zero. The bill was paid even though services were not performed as agreed since they were going to turn this over to collections. $238.32 later for nothing! We used to love this company -- they built our pool 11 years ago. But in recent years, things have gone completely off the rails. They've lost our gate key FOUR times, stopped responding to emails (even the CEO!), and their so-called concierge is useless. My 65 year old mother and I had an encounter at a car wash with an employee of this company and he was very aggressive. He was fully dressed with the company logo driving a company truck while he was hostile and threatening. I he told my mom to "take her meds" and then stared us down while we were driving away. I was going to write a long drawn out review about my experience but no one reads those, so I'll keep it somewhat short. Hopefully this saves people the years of headaches I've endured. Gold Medal built my pool in 2017. And they did one heck of a job. Customer service was great, the design was great, the pool came out just like the rendering. Unfortunately, it was short lived. After only about a year, the pool became unleveled. Started out with only 1/4 inch. And every year it got worse. They blame it on soil movement and have said they are not responsible. I hired a structural engineer, who confirms that GMP should have done soil injections due to the soils around my property but never did (to cut costs). I'm now sitting at 5 inches of unlevel. One of the skimmers barely gets any water. You can visibly see the pool is crooked and guess what, I have to spend around $20,000 to have it fixed. The pool is also leaking but surprise, they say they aren't responsible for the rocks around the coping or the slide they installed. You're probably asking yourself: why doesn't this guy get an attorney and go through the legal process? Well I did try that, the contract they make you sign will protect them at all costs. No jury trial and must do mediation first. Two attorneys I've spoken to say the attorney fees won't be worth it. This review was 5 years in the making. Do not use this company! Not sure how they are still in business. And, they are not cheap by any means. They were the most expensive out of the 5 companies we looked at. Don't make the mistake we did! I went with GMP because they convinced me that their pool walls and decking were far superior from any other company. That might be the case but everything else is poor and horrible workmanship and poor quality material. I am giving one star instead of zero because I really appreciate the hard work of my job foreman Joe Ray. Hired GMP to build a pool, spa and outdoor kitchen and living area in my flower mound back yard. If you let them build the pool, don't allow them to do any stone work!!! If it could go wrong with the work and materials it Did Go Wrong!! Stone mason are a joke! Absolutely terrible. Coping was redone 3 times due wrong stone, thickness of stone wrong, was not cut properly to ensure proper fit or ruined because of mortar being slopped every where. chain saw oil spilled in stones and just plain stupidity. Every time the Mason's came back to fix a problem or mistake of theirs, they made it worse or ruined something else. Outdoor kitchen was built incorrectly 2 times. Finally on the third attempt to place the stonework on vernier sides I just said "I don't care anymore just finish it". That has been my attitude for the 2 months "just finish it I don't care how it looks" because I am so fed up with all poor workmanship. My grill was in installed and gas line connected 5/3/16. I noticed two days later the smell of gas when I walked by the grill so I checked the lines/connections. Surprise!!! It's leaking gas. Had to make another phone call. Concrete decking was busted by the plaster guys now that needs repair. Breakers keep blowing when the spa is turned on. Have a gas leak on the grill they installed a couple days ago. They hit my basketball backboard in my driveway with their bobcat. They ruined my garage door while trying to manually open it, I have automatic opener like most people hello! The Sandlers (the owners) should be embarrassed by the work that is being done under their name. If the stone mason were allowed to do the type of workmanship at Mr. Sandlers personal home as they have done over and over at my home they would never work for the company again!! I am utterly shocked by what is allowed to happened. I am running out of time writing this but I will add the many many more things they have broken, installed incorrectly, or just things they have screwed up ASAP. 2nd review I am giving them one star again because of the hard honest work of my job foreman, otherwise it would be zero stars. Stone mason have back to my house again to fix the horrible workmanship from previous visits. Guess what, my stone looks worse now than what it did before. Not only the stone but somehow them managed to wipe their mortar covered hands on the wood posts of my outdoor kitchen. They didn't clean the stones off after wing the joint lines. They spilled dirty mortar water all aver my outlet covers and kitchen. They dumped their buckets of dirty mortar muddied water into my fresh new landscaping and mulch. Do you know what happens when you dump a bucket of water into freshly mulched landscape beds? Mulch of washed away and now the dirt is showing. Another "great job" by the stone guys!!! I have now requested that Gold Medal not send any more stone Mason's to my house. I will complete the work myself or hire another company. The frustration isn't worth it anymore and I think I could do a better job. It is blatantly obvious that the stone masons have no pride in their work and couldn't care the least bit of how their work looks when they are done! read more

Spent so much money to have a pool built and their workers would go number 2 in my back yard. True story I was so disgusted. We never went with their service after because it took several weeks for the first two-three visits that algae began to grow on our brand new pool. We fired their service and hired someone who isnt ran by any big company and pool has been great ever since. Gold Medal also didn't know how to wire the pool and spa lights separately so all the Hayward fancy light shows don't work properly and they all have to be the same color. I hate leaving bad reviews.. I actually left them a 5 star review a few years ago and will be deleting that shortly. We hired gold metal to level our concrete base and pool equipment. After WEEKS of attempted phone calls to get them out here they finally came. They had us approve the quote they provided BEFORE service therefore being charged whether we approved the work upon completion or not. We were told by the installer we would have a 6month warranty on the slab itself and that there should be no problems should something come up. We called after the job was supposedly done and said that we did not think it was level. That phone call went out the window and we were never contacted to fix the job. They had already gotten our money so they did not care. When we finally got ahold of the boss he informed us that they do not cover pretty much anything due to the ground movement in Texas. HA! This statement is comical because you could say that about any work they could potentially do and not cover under any warranty. Great loop hole for them. So we are out about $1500 and still have unlevel pool equipment that Im sure will have to be redone by another company. This has been the worst customer experience and the worst workmanship from their technicians. If you want to pay thousands of dollars just to be screwed over by them be my guest. They did not try to make anything right and genuinely do not care about anything but charging out the butt for poor quality work. We had a pool and outdoor kitchen designed and built by Gold Medal pools. We had an absolutely atrocious experience. It has taken me some time to write this review due to the extreme frustration that I had with this company but it is necessary to inform everyone. It took us almost 2 years for the pool to be completed due to multiple errors on Gold Medal pools. To list only a few things that were wrong in the building process, please see the following. First, they installed the outdoor grill and kitchen. I proceeded to grill on this outdoor grill and the following day they placed a cover over the Pergola. Only then did we find that there was a large gas leak from the grill that filled our entire house with natural gas. Luckily, we did not explode or catch on fire when we were grilling. Second, they were contracted to build the pool and the outdoor kitchen. They proceeded to build the kitchen and the pool walls with completely different stones. These did not come even close to matching (see attached images). GMP continued to argue that they were from the same stones and the "elements of our yard" changed the stone despite that they were only 15 feet from each other. After arguing with the company for over six months, they finally admitted that the stones did not match. Once I finally have them admit this, without any apology, they eventually replaced the stone on the kitchen in the pool. Third, they installed an electric outlet less than 3 feet from the pool. The state law says that it Hass to be over 5 feet. If this was a certified electrician, they would know this. When they moved the electric box, they filled the holes in with gray caulking on our brick. Fourth, our project manager was horrific and never present. Several mistakes should've been noticed by him and fixed prior to us being involved. Instead, when we pointed out issues he blew us off and told my wife that she was "having a bad day and just needed a hug". Fifth, never received any formal final walk-through, or closer to the deal. They already had our money from the start, and did not care to keep us happy, or to complete the project in a timely manner. Sixth, they destroyed our Pergola when building the kitchen and had to replace this. When they replaced this, they only placed one layer of varnish on the wood. They then argued that it could not be stained more, which was proven wrong when we made them place more stain on the Pergola. Unfortunately, they didn't cover the grill while staining and caused unremovable damages to the grill cover and had to be replaced. Seventh, while they were installing the pool, they attempted to build a kitchen right over the only faucet in the backyard. I personally caught the gentleman building the kitchen and stopped him. He told me that this is what he was instructed to do, and that I would have to reach under the grill, around the corner, and under stones to turn the faucet on to fill the pool. This was nearly impossible to do. We then had to pay an additional fee to have the faucet moved. That should have been figured out in the planning of the pool. I could go on and on with all the issues that we had while having this built as these were just a few. We specifically picked Gold Medal because we were told that they were more expensive but you would not have to deal with any hassles and they would do premier work. The overall construction turned out well after two years of dealing with nightmares. One of the biggest issues that I have with the whole process was that even when I brought all of these issues up with the company, including directly emailing the owners of the company, I have never received ANY form of an apology by voice or print. Bottom line, this company has grown way too big and are using unqualified contractors. They have lost the desire to provide good customer service and quality. I have spoken to several people that had pools built at the same time, including one with the same project manager, and they also had an awful experience. Gold Medal pools bought the residential service unit of Pool Referees last year. They have been doing weekly maintenance on my pool for several months now. A few weeks ago, a tech noticed a leak in the equipment. Gold medal sent me an estimate for $179 to diagnose. I approved and paid it. Gold Medal sent a follow up estimate of about $1.200 to replace a booster pump. I approved and paid it. 2 days ago, a tech came out and replaced the booster pump. I noticed severe leaking and standing water around the equipment last night. I set the equipment into service mode and emailed Gold Medal asking for help and a quick turn-around as we expect a hard freeze starting tomorrow. Here's the interesting part. I received a $350 estimate for "emergency service" just now. This is a company who is either disorganized or disingenuous. Either way, they do not stand behind their work even for 48 hours. Worst pool company experience I have ever had. I was unable to use my pool multiple weekends this summer for various reasons. They shocked the pool so much for no reason spiking my chlorine levels to dangerous swim levels. They invoiced me for multiple repairs that after a third party review were not needed. They left my pump unprimed multiple times leaving my pump running and overheating and my fountains and waterfalls not in use. I put in my 90 day cancellation and they continued to bill me after my cancellation date. My last cleaning today they left my pump unprimed and I could not reach anyone to come back to fix it. read more

Prior to switching out our construction manager hi didn't know how I was going to review this company. My sales person Jane Jordan was amazing. She put together a wonderful plan and executed it and got us off and running. Following that we had a construction manager whose follow-up skills were not the best. He ultimately left the company, and we we were assigned a new construction manager to finish out the project. His name is James. When I say he was amazing that is an understatement!! As a result of several delays that I would say came off a lack of communication from the previous construction manager, James the new construction manager took it and ran with it. He was very apologetic about the delays and worked with the scheduling department to get our pool finished. Once the pool was completed he followed up with the punch list of items that need to be completed and they are on going however they are getting done and I'm getting updates on a regular basis. Once the pool plaster was completed and the pool was filled we had our pool starter/start a person Victor Almonaci take us through pool school which was a lot of information but he took his time as we are first time pool owners. He was very accessible by phone with any additional questions we had and followed up with us as to where things stood with our pool and what was upcoming and what we should expect moving forward. I Will say three out of the four individuals that I have dealt with at Goldmedal have been phenomenal to say the least. Jane, James and Victor all provided a level Of customer service that have been unmatched. Still waiting to get the final punch list of items completed and the salt placed in the pool once it cures but I am happy with the end result! read more

The Process of working with them was some good and some bad... The hardest part was not getting clear information about how our deck was going to be finished and then having to pay to refinish it at my own expense. Their lack of communication was the problem, but they would not take ownership of that so I spent another $5000 out of my pocket to get what I thought I was going to get in the first place. l .Fast forward one year and my deck surface started settling and cracking and now it has recently cracked a fountain pipe underneath it. Gold medal will not take responsibility for this... They say it's "not under warranty "with no other it's super disappointing that they will not honor the quality of their work. Our pool was getting too much chlorine dumped into it because they didnt have the needed chemicals. Then that caused the acid level to get too high and then told us we would have to drain the pool. After not getting the services we paid for I went to the Red Oak location to speak to someone in person. People were inside the office as it was during business hours but the door was locked. I called and spoke to two different people yet I was still unable to get someone to open the door. Finally, a lady I spoke with took my message and said a manager would call me back. GMP purchased our previous pool Company. From the start, it was terrible service. They came every week as planned; however, our pool was never really clean when they left. There was always dirt on the bottom of the pool and/or the pool was green. I am not really sure what they did when they came to clean. I do not recommend this company at all. read more

New tech person every week. 1st week I had service the tech broke the pool cleaner (he pulled on the hose and it broke the fitting to the pool wall). They said they would replace the fitting at no charge and then sent me a proposal where the fitting was free, but they were going to charge me a $49 service call fee. I declined and fixed it myself for $11. The next week they were suppose to come on Thursday but did not show. They showed up the next day at 7:30am unannounced. I don't like people in my backyard at 7:30am. By Tuesday of the next week, yellow algae had covered both ends of my pool. Tech guy came in Thursday and did his deal. After he left I examined the pool: he brushed one end and cleared all the algae. Apparently, he didn't brush the other end because all the algae was still there. And no chemicals were added to treat the algae. BTW: I did not choose GMP: My previous pool service was great, but they were small and sold out to GMP. read more

We tried again this winter to get it fixed. They placed a work order. Came out to look. Didn't follow up. THEN they tried to tell me I had a payment past due for them coming to look. When I asked what the follow up is (what's the fix, when, etc.), they ghosted me and didn't ask for the bill again. So here we are THREE years later. Still a crack. I've sent multiple requests (a few a year). I've sent multiple pics. I've shown multiple of their employees when they were fixing our pump bc of the freeze. Tiles on the pool are crooked. See the picture below as an example. They also put up a fence. No barrier was built so all the dirt by the pool slides down a hill and through the fence. This made the wheels on the gate of our fence wear out. Gold medal said it was past the warranty and wont cover it (14 months from pool bring completed). I had to pay for new wheels to be put on our gate. I will never use them again and will not recommend them. read more

Why save your money and energy by not using Gold Medal: - They will come up with reasons to delay your project - They are not good with the follow-up, always made me follow-up with them - Always missed on their promises, there are some occasions they said the crew will come out and get their work done, many times, it always days or weeks late - Crew leaving messes behind: - cut my Internet cable - cut my lighting cable - broke my water hole - spilled acid on my driveway - leave stains on my fence - we have the lion heads added for our water feature: a- the pipe broke (after the 1st day) b- water leak from the lion head c- they fixed the leak but now the water coming out of the lion heads are not the same on both Almost everyone at Gold Medal are irresponsible for their works. When you have a problem and wish to contact them (from the builder construction manager to the project manager), they always tried to pass the torch around and pretend like nothing ever happens. Why? because they don't care about you. So why would you put money paying someone if they don't care about their work. NOTE: They won't fixed their damage which caused by the construction hence you better be sure to ask before you signing anything. Gold Medal put me through hell, I have a terrible experience dealing with them, hence if you don't want to go through what I've been through, then DO NOT have your pool build using Gold Medal. I regret having my built with them knowing how other companies would do far better job and being a lot more responsible (like Medallion Pools or Premier Pools which I have used in the past for my other pools it just they they weren't available at the time when I needed to get my pool done). In 2021 Gold Medal Pools purchased my old service company and took over servicing our pool. We were not informed. They did weekly service through the winter months, and sent invoices to an incorrect email. Our old provider - the one they bought - had our CC on file and automatically charged our card. Also our agreement with them was to only service every other week in the winter months. So we were not expecting invoices and didn't even know this company was servicing our pool. In January they stopped servicing our pool - again with no call, no notes on the door, nothing. When I realized this, I found a new company. Now it's a year later and I'm getting emails and letters about past due invoices. I told them several times I'm happy to pay for what I agreed to pay - service every other week. If they correct the invoices and re-send them, I'll pay. When speaking to an agent on the phone they basically say they will get back with me. They never do. I've sent numerous emails, they do not respond. The just keep sending hounding emails. Anyway, bottom line if you want a company with even reasonable customer service, look elsewhere. Ever since Gold Medal Pools took over the maintenance has been lacking, they didn't come when they were supposed to, no chemicals were added and the calcium buildup on the stones was not scrubbed off . they never followEd up on multiple calls or emails. Our pool has now had pump and filter issues for 3 months and they can't seem to send the right person to fix it. I had a pool installed over this past year and it actually took over a year to install. We have had multiple issues with the pool that continue to pledge us. The pool continues to leak, the pavers are not installed correctly allowing for water to stand to the point of entering my home. The gas grill that was installed has not worked properly from day one and I am told that the vendor blaze is not responsive to them. I do not believe this, as they have lied on other issues.
