About 14 months after the initial cleaning, an appliance repair company discovered a brush was lodged in the dryer duct. When I called Capitol to address the stuck brush, they denied responsibility for it. They gave excuses for why their air-hose method had not removed it, and were unwilling to do anything about it except charge me for another cleaning. Regardless of whether they left the brush there, it's clear their service did not remove it. In my view, a professional cleaning should have included removing any obstructions like this. It's pathetic that the appliance repair company discovered the probelm that the duct cleaning professionals had missed. I reluctantly made an appointment for another cleaning. The office representative said a manager would call me to discuss the situation. The manager never called. I waited for the technician, who never arrived. When I called to follow up, the office girl told me that she had canceled the appointment, which she did without notifying me. I made another appointment, again agreeing to pay for another cleaning. I sent them a photo of the brush stuck in the vent under the porch, along with details about the tight access (roughly 10 feet in with no crawlspace), and ask them to confirm that they could remove the brush at the agreed price. They did not reply to my email. When I called, the girl in the office assured me that she had seen the email and the photo, and that they could remove the brush for the quoted price. Great, but would it have killed them to acknowledge the email? After waiting two weeks for the appointment, the technicians arrived today--90 minutes early, when I was not ready for them. They had no idea they were there to remove a stuck brush. After wasting about 15 minutes of my time while I was supposed to be working, they determined they could not remove the brush. I told them I would be going with another company and asked them to leave. From start to finish, this company didn't do a single thing they said they were going to do. I don't intend to deal with them again.

I pitched a project via Yelp to install cooling and replace the furnace to all of the most highly rated companies in the area. All of them recommended a heat pump as opposed to traditional AC. Better Air NW's proposal was not only the least expensive by a fair margin, but also offered the highest quality machines and best warranties. Normally, I'd be pretty skeptical at that combination, but all of the positive reviews on Yelp convinced me to accept their offer. A few days later, as I write this I'm basking in the warmth of my new heater. The installation was smooth, painless, and well done. Despite some unexpected challenges in the home's design to figure out and overcome, they charged exactly their estimate; there were none of the kind of headaches or scams that one often expects dealing with contractors. All in all, great experience, these folks deserve their lofty reputation.

The quote was online and I loved their written sales pitch…read more Service techs arrived at the tail-end of the window (10-12pm, arrived at 12:04pm) and I had to call/email to ensure they were indeed arriving. I prefer companies being proactive. Their verbal quote in person felt like bait-and-switch, as it was not anywhere near the online quote. I had turned down other options as I liked the online bid. I explained this to the techs, and they were able to "negotiate" a better price (slightly higher than my online bid) so it was not exactly what I expected. What I liked is the job was complete on the day I requested. The techs tried upselling me in person, didn't give me anything in writing, and kind of hesitated when I'd explained I wanted them to either take off their shoes or wear booties, as the floor was recently cleaned. Again, they did the job on the day I'd requested and came highly reviewed, but I still have not received a written receipt (it's been nearly a week) and I don't care for the upselling when everything on the price menu is online. As they were able to finish one home I hired them to do another, based on time. Would I hire again, I'd give them a 3/5 stars, so not necessarily. It was 100% based on scheduling on why they got my business and they sold me on the instant reply and online menu, but I wasn't impressed with the mess (had to vacuum after they came) and the upselling and their hesitation of booties. I also prefer precision (screwing in all vents) over rushing for a completion. I had to run around and ask them to put the vent covers back on. They asked me to write a check to a "new company" and that seemed sketchy/uncomfortable too as I thought I'd hired Evergreen Air...

We got on their calendar and we're amazed at how professional everyone was from scheduling to follow up to reminders. And, they arrived on the day scheduled at the time scheduled. While this should not be extraordinary for a service contractor it is. The work was done and they were careful around the furniture and fixtures, they were very thorough. We had them clean the dryer vent too which should reduce drying times and energy costs in addition to reducing the fire hazard of lint buildup! My dryer was old (23.5 years) so first I got a new dryer. However, when that didn't help I tried to clean the dryer vent myself. I discovered that my dryer vent exits on the roof of my house - so I realized I needed to hire someone. As I researched companies, I discovered there is a vast range of pricing and expertise available. The cheaper companies (~$150) won't go on the roof and often only clean the vent from one side. Although Seattle Dryer Vent is not the cheapest, they are knowledgable about what they do and they do a thorough job. The technician arrived on time, was pleasant, and seemed to immediately know what the problem would be when I explained the problem I was having with drying my clothes. It turns out the the builders (my home was built in 2002) hadn't removed a mesh screen from the vent on the roof which was preventing my vents from fulling expelling the dryer lint out the end of the vent. The technician removed the screen as part of the service. Thanks to Seattle Dryer Vent Cleaning company, my clothes now dry in a reasonable amount of time. They were professional, knowledgable, and friendly and I would recommend them to others.
