I am so grateful for this company. Yesterday, our heating stopped working. We are currently living out of state, in Georgia, for my husband's job and we Airbnb our home until we return this summer. We have guests in the home, and as you can imagine, coordinating things like this from across the country isn't the easiest. While its not the biggest emergency, we needed a quick turnaround because of our Airbnb guests. My husband and I called a bunch of different places, but no one could come out for 48hrs up to a week. But Kohler was able to come out the next day! Donovan arrived on time, diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced our ignitor for a reasonable price. It was such a simple, stress free encounter. Following a visit from a Kohler tech, which went well, we asked the company to come back to our home to provide a quote to replace our current mini split. A service rep came out, did an assessment and provided a quote a few days later. The quote was not itemized lacking detail regarding parts, labor etc. We asked for an itemized quote. What are we spending our money on? The service rep replied: "Unfortunately, Our system does not provide a breakdown. It is what it costs for replacement". This is not an acceptable business practice. Buyer beware, I contacted a few HVAC contractors to install a new Heat Pump and furnace. Aaron came out and even though his bid was a little higher than the others he promised me a Quality installation. Well boy was I disappointed. He sent out a group of 4 guys to do my install and duct work. They did a horrible job. Ron the "lead installer" was the worst of the bunch. He was supposed to put in all new duct work and vents but they tried covering it up with this paint. When I complained that the system was too loud, he told me there was nothing wrong with the system. I called another HVAC company out to look at it Ranger Heating and Cooling and they found a folded furnace filter in my furnace instead of putting in the correct size filer they just folded it to make it fit. This was what was causing the horrible rattling sound I kept hearing. When I contacted Pierce County and L &I to schedule my inspection I found out they never pulled permits even though I paid for them. If you are doing quality work like you promised, why wouldn't you want it inspected? If you choose to hire Kohler to do work for you ask them for proof that they pulled permits before they start the work. The outcome of this install was it failed electrical inspection in many areas and I had to have another electrician to come out and fix their job so I ended up having to pay twice. read more

Super frustrated right now. I called Kohler as my outdoor thermostat was not working. I've had painters here and was worried they had hit it during the pressure washing process. The error was to replace batteries, which I did. I hit reset on the device and that did not clear the error. I called Kohler noting my concern and asked if there was a reset on the thermostat (I could not find one). I was not given an opportunity to speak with a tech. The tech arrived and proceeded to log onto the "installer" app on the thermostat. He uninstalled the device and reinstalled which solved the problem. This was a simple fix to which cost me $90+. He was here 5 minutes tops! Bottom line, this could have been solved over the phone. I would have gladly paid for a 15 minute phone solve, I.e., help desk ($25?) vs. him having to drive out here to perform a simple technology fix. More frustrating is I was told, by the office staff, that I'm not a tech so I should not be doing this. In this day and age of technology, I am insulted, not to mention dissatisfied. read more

Called Kohler Heating at 8:20 on the cold, wet morning our heater quit. Brandon the technician was at our house in 15 minutes. He pronounced the heater dead. Had a new Coleman furnace installed in less than 3 hours by a focused crew of Ron (an ace) and his helper Joe. And that included a run to Tacoma for the heater and a run to their shop for mechnical parts. Superior service by Aaron and Sharon Kohler and their diligent crew. Koehler installed our top of the line Carrier heat pump system in 2014. It was a full day's work for 3 guys plus the electrician. They did a first class installation that included removal of the old oil furnace and installation of a back up electric furnace and new air filtration system. So five years later it is still running perfectly. We are saving money over the old heating system plus we have efficient air conditioning all Summer! Koehler services our system once per year. We couldn't be more satisfied with the system and their service. So glad we converted to a highly efficient heat pump over oil heat! read more

Service guy came out another time with the wrong filter. It's a "bizzarre" system that they installed in 2016 for the previous owner. I called Kohler and requested a quote for a replacement heat pump package. They (Jaime?) happily scheduled a time to come out and look over my unit. They said they were sending a text so I could reply with pictures of my current unit. The text never came, but I wasn't too worried. On the scheduled day, someone from Kohler came over. I was told he'd have a quote to me by the end of the week. I didn't see anything so the middle of the following week, I called and spoke with someone in the office. She told me that they would send it over or call. Two weeks later, I've heard nothing. My heat pump just died and I'll be spending my money somewhere else. Bad service!! read more

Do NOT use this company! Purchased a heat pump for my home through Kohler heating and within the first 2 years the compressor went out. They tried to charge me an outrageous amount but after I complained they ended up fixing bad compressor under warranty. Six months later heat pump goes out AGAIN!!! Kohler sends tech out who says the thermostat was never even programmed correctly and the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced. It takes 3 weeks and multiple calls from me for Kohler to finally get in touch with me and then they tell me they are going to charge me $1325.00 to replace the compressor a second time in 6 months!!!!! read more

Last year I needed to replace my furnace because of a flood in my house. I wanted to buy from a local company. Kohler seemed to fit the bill. The owner is really nice. I bought the highest end unit I could get that would work in my house. Touchpad tstat, electronic air cleaner and high efficiency gas furnace. He assured me everything would work. Thank God I was there during the installation. The duct work that needed to be resized wasnt. I had a zone damping system that wasn't utilized. (I found out later as I'm reading the manual that my system would of worked with the zone system) . I had them come back to tear out the old and replace with new as we agreed in writing. They even charged me more for that in the end. I have smaller vents and in the wrong places as discussed. I had a very difficult install and they didn't come through. The basement is still too cold and middle floor too warm. Now they cant seem to get the a/c unit to work. Something about my communicating tstat not communicating. They will have to talk to a tech and get back to me. I thought they were the tech??? There is now no power to the tstat since the tech? came out. At least before the fan was on to reciculate the cool basement air to the upper floors. Its over 80° inside now, which is great if in the middle of winter. They got paid a very handsome sum of $ and the job isnt complete. I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to sell me something else to fix whatever is going on. I would suggest going elsewhere for all but the simplest of heating or a/c jobs. I will add more as this progresses. read more

Our Noritz tankless water heaters were not producing hot water so called around and found Keller Supply in Tacoma who sells these units they recommended Kohler. (I am a retired commercial general contractor) They came out the next day to my surprise but my problem was not communicated to the Tech who could do nothing. He needed a unit to backwash the units and he rescheduled for the next week. After the scheduled time, I got a call from the office that the "parts" did not come in. Rescheduled for the following week. Again a call after the appointment time that the parts were back ordered. I called the supplier, Johnstone and their corporate VP. Was not satisfactory. Could not give me a date and we had been with luke warm water for 3 weeks. I then called Pacific Supply and they immediately recommended Bob Larson Plumbing. They scheduled for the first of the week (this was Friday morning). In response to my questioning Larson assured me that they have all the necessary equipment and supplies to complete the job in one day. I called Kohler back to let them know that we would be using someone else and the gal that answered could not have cared less. Will never use Kohler. Would give a big goose egg if it was an option. Nor will I use or recommend Keller Supply again though the young man I talked to was honest with me and helpful to the limit of his ability. Will not throw him under the bus. read more

Kohler Heating installed a new furnace for us in the fall of 2016. Our old furnace wouldn't turn on and Kohler Heating was quick to give a vey competitive bid. The two gentlemen who came to install the furnace were punctual and went right to work. They even made a special trip to Home Depot when they needed an extra part and happily didn't charge us for the extra time or the part. The Trane furnace they installed has worked wonderfully for us ever since. Would definitely recommend them. read more
