First off, our server Mia was awesome. Attentive and kind! They have a beautiful patio and there are a few other dining options inside the restaurant. Clean and beautifully decorated bathrooms, all spaces had a nice feel to it. My burger was custom made and so good, I recommend - medium rare, fried egg, mayo, fried onions, lettuce and cheddar cheese. The servings were hefty and everything was well seasoned and flavorful, even the fries. Maybe a name change like Gold Burger, but I gotta say I might be pooping gold tonight. 5/5 stars read more

so this place is an institution in the Glen Lake area. i remember when it was a much smaller place that served up sodas and beers in frosted mugs. honestly the vibe back then was even better imo. food here is pretty good. they have a solid variety of burgers and other options. it's a good place to go with friends/family, also solo as i've done at the bar a few times. the reason i don't give a higher rating is i feel the place kind of phones it in on weeknights, which is a shame. i try to cut the staff a break because a) props to anyone in the service industry and b) i can understand how they would want to close on time, if not early if/when they're able to on slower nights my bone to pick with the above is that because their close time is open ended on weeknights, it's not always clear how long they'll be open. they run two happy hours, including from 8pm to close. this includes food. as someone who sometimes works later myself (retail, baby!), a later night HH with food is ideal. unfortunately, a couple of times i've arrived after 9pm and been told the kitchen is closed and they're on last call. they're "supposed" to go til 10pm. i realize i may be splitting hairs, but i also think if they wanted to create a more customer friendly vibe, they would go out of their way to stay open. Beckett's in uptown and Meteor Bar in Northeast are great examples of bars, both with food, that consistently go later no matter what. granted they are both in Minneapolis, so different customer base. come here, support this local establishment! they are good, just not great though they could be!! p.s. yes i am writing this from the bar, and just an update: my bill confirmed their happy hour is NOT running tonight. :/ granted the bartender never said there was happy hour and those menus weren't out, so i suspected as much. but i came for the happy hour, including food, and got neither. first world problems for sure! read more

I stopped by Gold Nugget in Minnetonka and was able to grab a table on the patio, which ended up being the highlight of my visit. The atmosphere outside was relaxing, and it was a great place to enjoy a couple of drinks. I ordered the cheesy tots, burger, and onion rings, but the food was just average overall, especially since the cheesy tots didn't have much cheese. The service was friendly, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, but the meal itself didn't really stand out. Overall, I'd come back to enjoy the patio and drinks, but I'd probably choose a different spot if I was looking for a meal. read more

My wife and I went mid Wednesday afternoon for a happy hour with their date night special. Here's my overall ratings of what we ordered. Cheese curds - 8.5/10 Really good center and sauce, needed more breading and crunch on the exterior to match the quality of the state fair. Burger - 7/10 Solid for a pub burger, bun slightly more charred than I like, inner bites better than edges. To be fair, I'm realizing that a pub burger has a lower ceiling than a good smash burger so you know my preferences. Parlour and Five Guys are 10's to me. Fries - 8/10 Extra crispy, pretty good but somehow lacking the same flavor of other places like Bon Chon or Spitz that also use the double fry/heavy batter method. Stir Fry Bowl - 6.5/10 - very soy forward and salty, reminds me of a wok place where you walk up and choose your ingredients. Could have used less sauce or maybe sub for teriyaki Chocolate Lava Cake - 9/10 Delicious! Perfect ratio of cake to ice cream and whipped cream. Quality ice cream and great way to end the meal. Service and atmosphere were great. Certainly a bonus to use their date night deal which I think was an app, two entree, and dessert for $40. read more

YUM! We popped over here on a monday and it was lively! The christmas decorations was a great sight to see & a fun atmosphere! Got sat fast and had a few brews before our meal. I ordered the Fig & Brie Burger (on an Impossible Burger) and OMG it was so good! I really enjoyed the bun and how everything came together really well. My husband got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and said the chicken would be amazing on it's own - but overall it was a great sandwich! One note is the chicken was huge compared to the bun lol. I need to say this is the BEST fries and ranch ive had in such a long time. I had a few fries leftover, and only brought them back so I could continue to eat them. I just had a large house salad and French onion soup, but both seriously blew me away! They make their ranch in house and it's divine. Someone at my table had the jucy Lucy and they wouldn't recommend it - not enough cheese! The service was subpar. They didn't check on us after getting drinks for at least 15 minutes. The place was semi-busy, but we saw them near us most of the time, just ignored. They also gave me a cocktail instead of the mocktail I ordered. I would recommend not having drinks that come n/a or have similar names, just a thought! The drink also didn't follow the recipe on the menu as it was missing grenadine both times. What a great place! The staff greeted us immediately on arrival and our reservation area for 8 plus a toddler was all setup. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone! My walleye sandwich was perfection- from the beer battering on the whole fillet of walleye , to the sauce on the fish! The sweet potato fries were perfection as well without any greasy sensation and amazing taste. To be truthful I did not eat the hoagie roll that the fish was in and I am not sure it is needed. This has been one of our go-to places for many years however the inconsistency in the menu, unless you want a burger, is disappointing. My partner loved her entree and the salad was fine however, the curry was 90% potatoes and rice with maybe a half a cup of actual Curry and vegetables. Very disappointing! We hit this place up after doing some Christmas shopping in this neck of the woods. This place is located in a small strip mall. Entering the premise you will see ample seating in the establishment, surrounded by dark paneling and a nice classic bar. We sat at the bar because we thought we could get in and out relatively quickly. There were maybe six patrons at the bar, but service was really slow, so that set the tone for the place. The wife ordered their bloody mary mainly because the bartender was skewering the garnishes, and a big piece of cheese and summer sausage looked really good when we sat down, LOL. I ordered a beer...nothing special. The tap selection is par for the course - standard American lagers with several craft beers. For food, we ordered the Reuben to share, as well as a bowl of ginger carrot soup. The soup was AMAZING! It has a great balance of flavors and is creamy. I will always order this if I come here and it is on the menu. The Reuben was OK. I do want to compliment the server. When they split the plate, we had a full serving of fries for each of us. The food also came out really quick which was a plus. I would give this place three stars because of the service, but the soup was so good that it got another star. read more

Golden Nugget in Minnetonka is such a fun and welcoming spot! The indoor seating offers space for any size. The menu is packed with so many delicious options, it was hard to choose. They have great specialty drinks and have TVs for easy sports watching. Our server was absolutely adorable and made the whole experience even better. They mixed the drink well. It tastes great! I got the paradise, it is very smooth and sweet. I loved it! The pot sticker is amazing!!!! If you order it at happy hour, it's only $10. Their happy hour is either 2:30-5 or 8 to close daily. But the kitchen is closed at 10. We got there a few minutes late, but they still served us. We will definitely come back and try their food. What a wonderful hidden gem in Minnetonka! I had been seeing this place all over social media, so when a foodie friend invited me here I said yes right away! I can't comment on pricing since she covered me, but the service was pretty speedy for a busy restaurant - plus the server let us know almost everything here is fresh and made to order! This place has a very warm and woody, neighborhood-tavern vibe. This is definitely a spot I'd want to spend the day watching a game here, or meeting a group for dinner. To Drink: I had a delicious spicy margarita and a nice glass of Chardonnay. The star of the show though is their Chai Martini if you love a rich, sweet, dessert-y beverage. They have a full bar, so you can really get anything here. To Eat: STATE FAIR CHEESE CURDS: A MUST, especially if you're with a group. Nothing out of the ordinary, but they really were the perfect cheese curds. ASADA BOWL: This was the dish I definitely saw myself ordering if I was just getting myself a meal! The steak was cooked perfectly and the whole bowl was packed with flavor. A perfect "burrito bowl". SHRIMP TACOS: Another fantastic dish that I could see myself ordering. These were spicy and refreshing at the same time, I couldn't get enough. GOUDA MAC: If you like rich and creamy pasta, this is a MUST! So smokey and delicious, I couldn't stop taking bites here! PRIME RIB EGG ROLLS: These were very rich and heavy, not my cup of tea but objectively they are flavorful and tasty! AHI TUNA CRISPS: I expected these to be more like tuna nachos, but it's more like marinated pieces of Tuna. Super fresh and yummy! LOBSTER ROLL: Again, this just wasn't my taste, but if you like a cold lobster roll I think you would really enjoy it! This was our first time. We started with a couple happy hour apps, the cheese curds and the spinach artichoke dip. Cheese curds were $8, delicious and a huge portion, the best items overall. Dip was good but dare I say too cheesy. We had to cut it with the knife to get through it. We also substituted bread in place of chips for $2 but the portion of bread was small given the upcharge and amount of dip. We then had the cuban sandwich, club sandwich and reuben, all with fries. Club was ok, very thick though and toast a little dry. Also, as I write this I've realized it did not come with bacon on it as it says. Reuben was the better of the sandwiches though we think it was missing the Russian dressing. Cuban was ok, pork was crispy but sandwich was a bit dry as well.  Portion sizes are huge here if your looking for that. My husband and I have been coming here for at least a decade, and I am finally DONE. The food is good and the atmosphere is fine. The bartenders though - ugh - they are always so rude and standoffish. The kind of vibe that makes me wonder if I should leave. I usually have to deal with the one with long, dark hair, but I came in last Friday and was excited to see new bartenders, but NO, they were worse - not just to me, but to other patrons. We were greeted by a young man with his ball cap on backwards, not looking like he worked there. The place hasn't changed and looked a bit shabby. Our order did come our fast. However, my husband's Carnita Tacos was very bland and left a puddle of water on his plate. Our server took it away, and we were not charged. We ended up just splitting my sandwich. Stopped in around 6:30pm on a gorgeous Saturday evening after a few hours at the Excelsior Art Fair. Enjoyed appetizers on the patio. Our server did a nice job keeping up and checking in with us as he was the only one assigned to the patio. I'd say out of the two appetizers the Buffalo shrimp was my favorite. Perfectly cooked and coated in Buffalo sauce. The cheese curds weren't my favorite- a little bready and not super cheesy. The menu had a variety. This is a hidden gem. I was here years ago, and happily passed it while we were looking for something to eat. We sat outside on their private patio - decent space. The quality of food is just as I remember. I shared the cheese curds and buffalo shrimp (served with blue cheese). The shrimp were cooked to perfection. I'm not a blue cheese lover, but I'm branching out more and this sauce was mild and paired well with the shrimp. Would definitely go back when I am hungrier to try other menu items. Reserved a high top for 4 on Sunday to celebrate my son's 25th b-day. Enjoyed awesome HH specials: 2nd pints for a $1 on all drafts, and cheap apps. Normally HH ends at 5pm, but 3:30p Vikings game kept it going much later. Enjoyed Cajun Steak Bites, State Fair Cheese Curds, Caprese Flatbread, and a killer $10 cheeseburger & fries. I ordered my Thanksgiving dinner from Gold Nugget for 2-3 people. Picked it up on Thanksgiving and it was hot and ready to eat when we got home. Everything was delicious with large portions. I paid 19.95 for a bowl of soup with a puff pastry on top ,the Thanksgiving turkey burger was mush on top of mush on top of mush the cranberry sauce was horrible,no cranberry in sight. It just tasted like vinegar, this is the third time we've given this place a try everything is wonderful but the food ,get a new chef. We've been going to the Gold Nugget since it was a hole in the wall in Glen Lake. Today we went there because our first choice restaurant was closed between lunch and dinner. There were three of us and we had the following Burger of the Week - ordered rare and came out hard as a rock, dry, and not a hint of pink anywhere. Original Burger - also ordered rare and came out hard, dry and overcooked. Fish and fries - at least that seemed reasonable to the person eating it. Coffee all around - first cups bitter, when we eventually got the refills after asking for it because the server did not check back, the coffee tasted like it had been on the burner for hours on end. Take away for my husband - Chicken Pavarotti pasta. We waited and waited for the dish to come out and when our dining companion went to the kitchen to ask where it was they said it wasn't ready... came to the table tepid. This less than stellar lunch meal was $105 with no alcoholic beverages. Definitely not worth the money and I won't be returning. read more

I enjoyed the turkey big Mac which was fully of flavor and a huge patty - topped with big Mac sauce and cut up pickles almost like a relish. The bun was fresh and the fries were great! Went here for a birthday lunch for my son. The place was very cozy and not super loud. There were 6 of us on the group and they sat us right away on a Sunday during the Vikings game. The server was super friendly and took our drink orders after we got settled in. She recommended the cheese curds and tater tot things. The appetizers came out quick and she came with the drinks and took our food order. The nice thing was they had some breakfast options and a lot OA lunch choices too. I ordered the Gouda Mac and cheese with bacon and chives. My son got the lobster roll, my wife got a chicken wrap thing, my youngest daughter got the Mac and cheese with bacon also. My oldest daughter and boy friend got build you own burgers. The burgers looked good and so did the lobster roll. Both things came with fries and seasoned sour cream as option. I really did see my wife's chicken wrap. The Mac and cheese was really good and very moist and not too thick. Overall I recommend this place. They also have a sweet patio. Gold Nugget is featured in my Bloody Mary Collection and for good reason. They have one of the best Bloody Mary's in town. A delicious, thick, house made sauce and garnish with a chuck of cheese, salami, cherry tomato, olive, and a pepperoncini. It comes accompanied by a Miller High Life Pony. This is a must try! Gold Nugget does a weekly burger battle and is always cranking out some fun creations for you, the consumer to vote on. I do wish they did a slightly better job with their tap beer selection. While it is probably one of the better beer lists in the area it still isn't what it could be. read more

We received a nice welcome and the host seated us promptly in the area to the left of the bar. There were a couple of TVs visible and those were set to Twins and golf. The entire place was about 30% occupied. The server seemed to arrive before we were seated which literally gave us no time to take a look at the beer/wine list. So, we quickly ordered a diet Coke and water. She never attempted to sell us anything else. I ordered the French Onion soup and the Fig and Brie burger (see photo). Both arrived (I was not asked if I wanted the soup prior to receiving the entrée) 20 minutes later...pretty slow for a relatively quiet restaurant. The soup was really hot...the burger was warm at best. I ordered my burger "medium rare" and it arrived "well done." The fig flavor was very faint but overall the burger was tasty thanks to a good roll and nice cheese. Meanwhile, the soup was bland except for some peppery taste...don't spend your money on it as you'll be at least as disappointed as I was. It was a waste of money. It looked old and needed refreshing. Tossing some cheese on top of bread doesn't make for good French Onion soup. It's better removed from the menu. While this was definitely a disappointing experience I understand their happy hour is well attended and might give it a try if we're in the neighborhood. Otherwise, there are probably better local options for a full-priced meal that would include good service and well prepared food. read more
