Lovely Irish bar and restaurant that we visited on a Sunday night. It was 8 pm and we needed a dinner, thankfully they were open as many places were already closing. We waited a bit at hostess table but were cheerfully greeted and seated on large patio. Wait staff was wonderful and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the drinks and food here. I loved my flavorful veg curry - spicy and loaded with flavor. Caution with the accompanying red pepper sauce as it really packs a punch. My daughter enjoyed her cheese burger and fries. She had a very delicious redbull cocktail called peach please. I thought it tasted delicious and I hate redbull. I was able to enjoy a Smithwicks here which is an Irish red ale I love but that you can't find everywhere so that was icing on the cake! A great place to watch a game! Stopped in to watch USA in the World Cup. This restaurant is very large with a lot of seating. And a great outdoor patio to boot!! Stopped by for a quick dinner before a MN Lynx game. Super hot and muggy weather on late Saturday afternoon. The place was hopping with diners and they had a private party in their second room. We were seated in a both near the open door to the patio but the AC was keeping up and we were comfortable. My wife and ai each ordered a cider. She had a traditional one and I had a passion fruit - guava on tap. Both cool and refreshing. We ordered a salad with chicken and the Reuben sandwich. My wife enjoyed the salad. It was generous in portion, fresh and tasty. The Reuben was hot and fresh. I should have asked for "heavy" sauerkraut as many places tend to go too light for me. This one was as well. The corned beef was extra tasty and gave the impression of being made in house. Fries were crispy and hot. Our server covered a lot of territory that afternoon, both inside and out and did so with calm and "cool" professionalism. We will go back in the future. read more

We stopped in at Kierans Pub for dinner. Hubs had the usual--a Reuben and fries. Daughter had the Reuben with a salad. I had bangers and mash. Food was delivered quickly and looked fresh and was hot. Both of them loved their Reuben. They said the sandwiches were very tasty and the caraway rye was interesting. Salad option was nice with the Reuben. It was a large salad with cucumbers and baby greens. My bangers and mash was a little disappointing for me. The potatoes were super whipped, not heavy, and I wondered if they were maybe not homemade. The bangers were reminiscent of Britannia Arms, which is a good thing, but they just weren't as good. Overall, I would definitely return to this pub and order different food! Maybe a Reuben. this is a very big traditional style, Irish pub in the heart of downtown. It is perfect for a pregame drink or bite if you're heading to Target center afterwards. we went exactly for this, and found that there were many people there doing the same thing. It was a nice ambience. this place was decorated joyously for Christmas. it has a large capacity for seating and we were sat right away. We had a raspberry sour and a winter ale both of which were very delicious. We also had the buffalo wings which were also very good and had a great flavor that was not too spicy. We then also had the good fortune to go there when Michelob ultra was running a pregame promotion and got some free T-shirts and koozies. definitely recommend going before a game to see if you happen upon any of these fun perks. read more

Came here before a show at first Ave to try something new. My husband had a Guinness which was good. And I had a signature cocktail. drinks were good. We ordered the poutine off the app menu. It was good. But I feel like it needed a little more corned beef and cheese curds. It was mainly just fries and gravy. The bartenders were friendly and the bar itself is really nice. This is what you expect, a cross between a somewhat dark Irish pub and sports bar. It just gives a vibe of a little bit of a dirty, sticky floor bar. We went as a large group to watch the Copa finals and it had a lot of TVs. We asked if they could put the game on. It seemed a little bit of a challenge, but ultimately they figured out how to put it on and get audio, but on a Spanish station. My SIL was happy, but I couldn't follow. We could eat, drink and cheer so overall a win. The food was mediocre. We tried the wings, cheese curds, chicken pub pie, and kids chicken bites. My niece had a mushroom flatbread, which looked good. Service is friendly, but a little slow. They gave us like 2 menus and I walked to the stand to get kid menu. It's a little over-priced, at least for apps (e.g., $14 cheese curds or pub pretzels, $15 wings). They had a huge patio. Artichoke dip, different than most with red peppers instead of the traditional spinach but I liked it and a flatbread pizza, not my favorite. It was a packaged crust and not a good one. This is a staple downtown Minneapolis restaurant. Although it's a little dark and divey, I love their space (especially that amazing patio!) unless it's before a concert, basketball, or baseball game.... It gets extremely packed then. The service was relatively fast, but our server seemed a little shy and didn't engage much with us. For drinks, I always get the Skinny Ginger. It's light and refreshing! When it comes to food, I always get the pretzels and the Chicken Shots. Both are amazing, but be warned that the "VERY spicy mustard" that comes with the pretzels is, in fact, VERY spicy. I loved every bite of it. The one thing I got that I haven't before was the mac and cheese. I was a little disappointed because it was dry and lukewarm. Kieran's Irish Pub has been a Minneapolis gotta-try for thirty years! (30 years TOMORROW, to be exact.) It lives across the street from the Target Center which makes it super convenient to pop in for a pint prior to a game or after. We were headed to the B1G Women's Basketball tournament and needed food. It was a Friday during lent so of course my parents were in search of meatless options. Holy Walleye Sandwich! That thing could easily feed two. A lot of bang per buck with that menu item. The wings were huge but nothing to write home about. (I'd not order those again.) The Rueben was delish! It had the perfect amount of corned beef and sauerkraut. Absolutely no complaints here. My pint of Guinness was delightful. (There's just something so satisfying about having one in an Irish pub.) The menu wasn't huge by any means but had something for everyone-- it seemed priced pretty reasonably considering it's downtown. My kiddo is obsessed with the Titanic. He loved exploring their Titanic Lounge! (It's only available for private events but the staff let him check it out.) Captain Edward Smiths painting is behind the bar-- loved all the old timey nautical items throughout. Overall, Keiran's Irish Pub is a super cool hangout. My return visit after 4 years. Was staying at the hotel it is connected to. But me and a co-worker initially went to the irish pub across the street. Unfortunately, the place was locked up tight. Not sure why. So we ended up going to Kieran's. We grabbed seats at the bar and placed our order. I went with the pot roast and my co-worker went with the pot roast sandwich. The co-worker said the sandwich was really good. The pot roast for me was ok. Nice and tender and you get a lot of meat. I think the meat could have been flavored more. The mashed potatoes and accompanying veggies were good. And the crispy onions added a nice touch. Service was pretty good, too. Bartender checked on us every few minutes. My partner and I went to Kieran's before the Katt Williams show to grab some drinks and food. We were immediately seated in the nice pub. Our waitress was incredibly sweet. The place was quite busy, so we had to open a tab before ordering to streamline the process. I ordered the Rueben sandwich and my partner ordered the fish and chips. To drink, I got the frostbite and he ordered an old-fashioned. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. Hi Everyone! In case you are wondering, the best things about Kieran's are still in effect: awesome service and really great food! We sat at the bar and we're well attended by both bartenders. Our food arrived quickly and just look at how hug and yummy everything was! Half of that mac-n-cheese with grilled chicken came home with me for lunch the next day. The burger was pink, juicy and exactly the way my husband ordered it. One thing to note is that there's an automatic 18% service charge added to your bill. The verbiage on the bill kind of confusing. It states that there's no tipping necessary but that the service charge is not a gratuity. ??? I support the change. That said, it would be good to know about this up this front, especially for out-of-town visitors (since this service charge is kind of a trend in the Twin Cities). read more

A nice stop in my continuing attempts to find great fish and chips. An open space with plenty of seating and friendly service (it was fairly quiet at 5 pm on a Thursday). Essential to fish and chips, in my mind, is Guinness on tap, and bringing malt vinegar without being asked. Done. The chips were fine - not bad, not standout, but the real star was the fish. Exquisite! Perfectly flaky, seasoned(!), fish - not dry, with shatteringly crispy batter that's paper-thin. Amazing. So many places have such thick batter that there's more batter than fish. Had a work event here in a reserved space for our group. It is a great location downtown for meeting after work, and the patio is lovely (and lively). We had wonderful service, everyone who works there was friendly and fun. The food was presented well on large platters with something for everyone from fresh fruit and veggies to sandwiches and meatballs to cookies and dessert. Favorite foods were the soft pretzels and cheese dip and the chicken skewers. I want to come back and try a chicken shot that everyone was talking about. Extra special shoutout to our amazing server, Latira. She took care of every person in the room, which was quite a crowd - she somehow made it look easy and had folks laughing and smiling the entire time. A real local favorite with a solid Irish bar feel. The bar is open and spacious...a great place to have a pint of Guinness or watch the game. Unlike many sports bars, Kieran's has an open feel and even with a game going, a person can still converse. Great decor that doesn't feel forced. 3.5: Pretty good. From vacationing in Minneapolis for a week I found out that pubs are to this city to what barbecue is to St. Louis (where I vacationed last year). From almost half a century of dining experiences, I found out that pubs serve outstanding burgers and fish & chips. Being that I favor the later, fish & chips were a popular item during this vacation. Kieran's Irish Pub was one of my fish & chips dining experiences in Minneapolis. Using Minnesota Twins terminology you can say that this location is a grand slam. That is because it is in the shadow of Target Center and a block south of Target Field. That translates to a convenient Irish Pub before or after a professional sports event. Furthermore it is close to the Theater District. I might as well write that it is close to all of downtown Minneapolis taking into account that it is under the skyway. In my case it was a short walk to Embassy Suites which was our Minneapolis home for a week. Kieran's Irish Pub stands out from the other pubs that I saw in the city. It is the unique environment that causes it to stand out from the other downtown Minneapolis Irish pubs. In this unique environment the inside celebrates an Irish Pub where the outside celebrates stadia. The outside table seats overlook Target Center which is the Home of the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA team. On our visit we entered through the Irish Pub then sat at a table overlooking Target Center. It was Pub dining with a view. Kieran's Pub also stands out from the Minneapolis Irish pubs that I visited on account of the fact that it was the only one to serve fish & chips with one cod instead of two. At $16.95 it was a pretty good cod served with pretty good fries. Along with the pretty good food was pretty good service. Taken together I rate Kieran's Pub 3.5 Stars as in pretty good. read more

I love a good irish bar and this place really delivers on classic irish bar atmosphere. We wanted a quick snack but not dinner so we ordered the wings. We now have a new rule that we won't order wings somewhere without seeing them first. The sauce was fine and tasted like Franks, but the wings tasted like they were heated up in a microwave. And I'm pretty sure they either gave us tarter sauce or they forgot to put blue cheese in their dressing (we didn't complain because we aren't huge blue cheese fans on wings anyway). I ultimately gave this place 4stars because the burgers looked awesome and the people sitting next to us who were eating them confirmed they were good. Next time i come here, I will take my cue from the decor and order something more traditionally irish, like fish & chips. read more
