We visited the Brewery as a shore excursion on our cruise. It was a great experience for us because we really wanted something low-key and easy. The brewer who did our tour was super enthusiastic and fun to hang out with. He made sure our glasses were topped off and gave a great talk about the workings of the brewery and his passion for beer. We got to try three 8-oz samples and a full pint, all included with the tour. The beer was good and the root beer was great. I highly recommend that you make sure to try the root beer and the coffee stout; they were the most delicious. The lighter beers were good too, but not as flavorful. The tour was too short, though. Our day in Skagway was quite long, and this only filled part of the afternoon. And it could easily have been longer, too, since getting people to chug four glasses of beer in less than an hour really rushes the experience. The bus company that took us to and from the brewery was also very good. The drivers talked extensively about the town and its history, even fielding impromptu questions. read more

This is a neat looking facility WAAAY out on the edge of town (follow Klondike Hwy across the river). The place is a brewery that apparently also does tours, food, and, from what we inferred, a bit of live music from time to time. We were only there long enough to taste beer, so I can really only speak to that. We did a tasting of six beers, and I can't say I much cared for any of them. A lot of them had a sour, funky kind of thing happening, which, if it was intentional, was just not to my taste. Some of the heavier ones were okay (bigger flavors masked some of the funky), but we couldn't finish the lighter ones because of it. At least the service was good. read more

If you have a cruise stop in skagway, you need to stop by here. Good beer great environment. The brewery is on the edge of town, but not so far out of the way to be burdensome to get to. The employees/owners whose names I forget, genuinely seemed to like talking about their beer and their town. read more

If you like tasting craft beer this is one place you need to go. I liked 4 out 5 of their beers. Did not get a tour and they only had a buffet that day because of cruise ship tours coming through. P.S. - this place is NOT way out of town, it is not even a mile from town. the Pioneer grave yard is twice as far on the opposite side of the river. The local bus will take you there and back. You are not going to find a full restaurant or active brewery. It has turned into a full blown tourist trap of orchestrated costumed players and bad buffet food and only 1 beer brewed on site. This place is a disaster of a dumpster fire. The kitchen is filthy, and employees don't wash their hands after using the restroom. The food is straight out of a box and dumped right into the fryer, or oven. Nothing is made from scratch. The salmon was overcooked, and the chicken chewed like a rubber tire. I saw tons of dishes stacked on the floor. I am not sure if they were clean or dirty, but either way, that doesn't meet food code. I saw black mold everywhere I should not have: in the kitchen, on the floor of the brewery, in the walk-in fridge. The bathroom: While I was there one of the stalls in both the men's and women's room had an "out-of-order" sign. An employee told me that it had been there three days, and he didn't know when it would get fixed. The homemade beer my wife and I tasted tasted like bread dough. Not bread, but BREAD DOUGH. Whomever made the beer did an awful job. The gold panning tour was also a total washout. We panned for an hour for a few flakes of gold which the gift shop staff told me was worth $25--which is total BS. The exit for the tour goes right through the gift shop and everything is totally overpriced even for Alaska. A little stuffed husky toy is $13, a cookie is $5... This company takes every opportunity to exert the least amount of energy while simultaneously reaching for your wallet every chance they get. read more

This place is a hidden gem! It's a bit of a walk, but if you are on a cruise ship you can certainly use it. Try the ribs and salmon sliders--phenomenal! Wait staff were friendly.
