We had an absolutely brilliant time at this out-of-the-way small batch distillery on the outskirts of town. Got a tip from someone at the local visitors center about this spot, so we took a chance and hiked on up to their location...so glad we did! The inside was quirky and interesting, with great tunes playing as well. The guy behind the bar (sorry, cannot remember his name) was a hoot and we quickly connected with him as he made our craft cocktails. They were so good, we had a round two before stumbling our way back to town for dinner. It was a real treat to find this spot, and being my wife's birthday made it even that much more special. Happened in here last week upon suggestion. It was perfectly off the beaten path. We arrived to a comfortable tasting room with inside and outside seating. We sampled some gin, and then had a gin and tonic. We left happily with a bottle for our home bar. Highly recommend their gin and a visit. See website for more information. Easy street parking or a short walk from the center of town. (Stop into nearby public library if you have time. We enjoyed a quiet read there.) read more

You'll have to walk almost a mile away from the tourist area, and it'll totally be worth it ! This tiny place was amazing. I checked it out while my friends went for the train tour. The bartender offered me samples of the gin and vodka. Then I told him I generally prefer bourbon over gin & vodka, so the bartender (forgot to ask the gentleman's name) offered to make an old fashion (they just started doing bourbon and they had a small batch [not officially selling yet] ) I think it was aprox 55% alcohol content. I just sipped it while amazed at the view of the mountains and the private airport next to it. haha. Upon finishing my drink, I went back to meet up with my friends and brought them all back to Skagway Spirit's Distilliery. My friends thought I brought them to a sketchy area, as we were off the beaten path. (Are there any dangerous areas in Alaska?) My second drink was a dirty martini. Was solid, but couldn't touch the old fashioned. So I ordered old fashion again. My friends tried a few different drinks from the menu. Overall - the most special drink was an almond sour. It was ridiculously good. Amazing flavor, and balance. If they would of sold bourbon bottles for sales, I would of bought one. Drinks were surprisingly inexpensive ($10 per drink) Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. I might not ever return, but was a very special memory. read more

We love Skagway simply for the people... but the drinks help too! I had the classic gin and tonic, which was amazing, and the hubby had the Rhubarb Collins. The distiller distills the gin with herbs and florals in such a way that won't overpower your taste buds or mixed drinks. We decided to purchase a bottle for home. The merch here is also really cool, the coolest shirts I bought in all of Alaska, and I bought a LOT of bar shirts... probably too many (is that possible? I don't know!). We loved that the locals are passionate about Skagway and open to teach you about the amazing history and their current way they live life there. Truly a wonderful experience. Wonderful small business with great spirits and amazing craft cocktails. We stopped in here after hiking to the cemetery and Lower Reid Falls in Skagway. We were warmly greeted and offered samples of their gin and vodka. The owner explained the process of making the syrups used in the cocktails, which included rhubarb and fireweed. We had 2 cocktails each and every drink was amazing. At only $8 each they are an incredible bargain for a craft cocktail. This place really is a hidden gem. Well worth a visit! read more

Great place to visit while in Skagway! Just a few blocks off the main drag, but well worth the walk. Locally crafted gin and vodka with a truly Alaskan flair. They make an outstanding series of craft cocktails, including a gin & tonic that incorporates local spruce tips (source of anti-oxidants), and has the added advantage of being delicious. Ehud, the bartender was a great source of information about the spirits as well as local life in Skagway. Definitely a must-stop for a return trip to Skagway! read more

Great customer service too - we were even offered a ride to port by the Manager/Owner when we were worried that the shuttle wouldn't make it back in time! We tried about six drinks and all of them were delicious. My group agreed that it was the best bloody mary that we've ever had! They do a great job incorporating the local flora into their spirits. Dropped in after a hike on a hot day. I tried the rhubarb collins and fireweed cosmo. They hit the spot; refreshing and tasty. The owner's dog would come in and look around, but never yapped at those coming and going, which I appreciate when trying to relax. No food though. Had to go elsewhere for a late lunch. read more

The personnel we met (Luke and his father) were awesome and really passionate about the artistry and creativity of their gin and vodka. They provided us with interesting conversation on oak-aged gin and the different methods used in their distillery due to the far distances of Alaska. We were to do the train tour and it was canceled due to a rock slide leaving us nothing to do for the day. Due to the amount of ships in port there were few affordable choices. The Skagway Distillery tour was available. Janeanne , the owner , picked us up and gave a great tour of her town. Once at the distillery we had several drinks and tasted many of their new products. The tour was informative and given by the son Lukas, but it is a small operation, don't expect the Cruzan Rum factory. Once ready to leave , Gary , the owners husbandwas to finish and take us back. We ended up in his Model A with my wife sitting in the rumble seat. As we drove through town people took pictures and she waved at them . She had forgotten her Tervis cup in the van , we called and Gary brought it back with dogs in tow in the convertible. The tour was a little expensive for what you get but most are in Skagway. I would recommend to bypass the tour but go to the distillery and meet the family. Great drinks , great vodka. read more

If you are in the mood for something off the beaten path, not touristy and well worth the visit, this is the place for you. Because it was for us thanks to Smart transit bus driver who took us there. They distill their own Vodka and Gin here and it is GREAT!!!! Awesome Lemon Drop Martini, stupendous Gin and Tonic, a Screwdriver that hits the spot and a Cosmopolitanism that's out of this world. Great ambience and welcoming atmosphere. And if your hungry, there is a small BBQ joint out front that is just right for a bite. I'd order the pork and beans again in a heartbeat, wish I'd tried the burrito. read more
