Service here is excellent! My rating is not reflective of the service but the food. My husband and I moved to the area from Cincinnati so we've had real Gold Star our entire lives. We despise the competition that starts with S. We were pleasantly surprised to find a Gold Star within 20 mins of us. We have been to this location three times. Each time, the chili taste absolutely unrecognizable and inauthentic compared to Cincinnati Gold Stars. They water the chili down here. Also, they don't carry the authentic Tuong Ot Sriracha with the rooster on it so we bring our own. I have to pour two times the amount on the chili to make it palatable! Side note: We really love the mural in this location. Too bad the food is disgusting. We will just buy the cans in the grocery store and stay home for the real stuff moving forward. read more

Tony and I have always wanted to try the Cincinnati Sensation of Chili on your Spaghetti, so we were shocked to find a restaurant in rural Versailles Indiana selling it. It was noon, my belly hollered feed me!!! So, Gold Star Chili was the winner...and we are glad we stopped. We went the small 5-way chili and was very pleased....WOULD definitely do this again. It was wonderful. Chili taste like it has cinnamon or Nutmeg spice in it. It was not over powering, but definitely detectible to my palate. The 5-way gives you chili, with raw onions and beans covered with MOUNDS of shredded cheddar cheese.....ummmmmm cheese me PLEASE!!! I definitely recommend and definitely would do again. Lunch with top and taxes was only $16 and that was with a soda and sweet tea to drink.....yummy yum yum yum!!!! read more

Obsessed with how this tiny, remote Indiana town has a Gold Star Chili. In fact, this is one of only two Indiana locations - the other being in Lawrenceburg, a stone's throw away from the Ohio state line. You'd be forgiven for thinking this Gold Star is a mirage while driving by, but to paraphrase "Seinfeld": it's real, and it's spectacular. I've loved Gold Star since I was a kid and still consider it one of the best fast food chains ever. This Versailles location upholds that level of quality. It's been maintained well over the years, the staff is fast and friendly, and the food is the sweet 'n' savory goodness that you'd expect from a Cincinnati chili joint. Something about the combination of cinnamon-infused chili and habanero cheese is just stellar and works with any mood I'm in. Huge props to this location for bring some Queen City goodness to a different audience. read more

Everyone was very friendly, but the first thing I noticed is that the counter was dirty, when I sat there. (I'm almost certain it was dirty before I sat there, but we can't be sure of that, can we?) Since I'd been away from the tri-state area, I had no chance for Gold Star. There are no Cincinnati chili places anywhere in California that I could see. I had been photographing a large cross country meet today in Rushville, and out of curiosity drove south on State Road 3, not knowing where I'd end up. I saw a lot of towns with the same names as some of the teams I photographed. At some point, I wanted to eat, and I thought about Gold Star. Yelp told me about locations in Kentucky and Cincinnati (and Hamilton and Fairfield), and even Lawrenceburg but not this location. At that point, on U.S. 50, I passed a sign that said Gold Star 1.5 miles ahead. Divine intervention? I think so. I found Gold Star next to Pizza Hut, which was next to something else, in a tiny strip mall. Anyway, it looked really nice inside, but as I took a place at the counter, I noticed the mess. It wasn't really surprising, as I've seen many Gold Star locations needing attention at the counter, mainly because the employees sit there when it's quiet. The person preparing food asked if I was ordering for dining room or to-go. After that, he was getting my drink and making my food, something I hadn't seen at other locations. The burrito bowl was exactly what I wanted, with the extras, but no sour cream--I've had some assume that everyone wants sour cream. It's good to get exactly what you ordered. Of course, you should expect it, but it seems as though it doesn't happen as often as it should. I thought that the person preparing food was in charge, and he seemed to be. When it was quiet, he went into an office and I could hear change. I hope he washed his hands afterward. I had a bit of conversation with all three employees there today, and they made the stop worthwhile, as well as enjoyable. I learned more about southern Indiana in one sitting than what I'd heard the rest of my life. They asked if I wanted more to drink and I asked for it in a to-go cup, and they were right on it. Good service is appreciated. I really wish that they'd cleaned better but then, I noticed when the food preparer went into the office, he'd left a mess on the work area. I know things happen and maybe no other customer would have noticed, but it's important to keep things clean. read more

all of it was abs terrible the food was shitty their garlic fries tasted like egg farts. the prices was outfag I do not recommend coming here. it's so expensive and the food wasn't even goood their Dr Pepper tasted like cough syrup. terrible 0 stars if I could leave it and they mircowaved my spaghetti i watched it. read more

Rolled into Versailles after a 400 miles, on 2-Lane. Tired & Hungry, I was excited to see GOLD STAR. NOT having been to this one, I was a little apprehensive about choices. Gross doesn't begin to cover this place! Filthy tables and chairs- the staff didn't care not come to clean it... We asked for cheese on the side because that excessive pile of "cheese" is disgusting they didn't list still loaded the top of everything with that garbage... Gave us chips that were months out dated, and when we told them they didn't care and continued talking to each other.... I'd avoid this place read more

I enjoy the food. I did not like the employees smoking on break by where you order at the drive through.

This place is ways clean and organized. Staff has always been courteous and efficient. Don't know if all Gold Stars are like this, but this one is a shining example if a well run business. read more
