Everyone was very friendly, but the first thing I noticed is that the counter was dirty, when I sat there. (I'm almost certain it was dirty before I sat there, but we can't be sure of that, can we?) Since I'd been away from the tri-state area, I had no chance for Gold Star. There are no Cincinnati chili places anywhere in California that I could see. I had been photographing a large cross country meet today in Rushville, and out of curiosity drove south on State Road 3, not knowing where I'd end up. I saw a lot of towns with the same names as some of the teams I photographed. At some point, I wanted to eat, and I thought about Gold Star. Yelp told me about locations in Kentucky and Cincinnati (and Hamilton and Fairfield), and even Lawrenceburg but not this location. At that point, on U.S. 50, I passed a sign that said Gold Star 1.5 miles ahead. Divine intervention? I think so. I found Gold Star next to Pizza Hut, which was next to something else, in a tiny strip mall. Anyway, it looked really nice inside, but as I took a place at the counter, I noticed the mess. It wasn't really surprising, as I've seen many Gold Star locations needing attention at the counter, mainly because the employees sit there when it's quiet. The person preparing food asked if I was ordering for dining room or to-go. After that, he was getting my drink and making my food, something I hadn't seen at other locations. The burrito bowl was exactly what I wanted, with the extras, but no sour cream--I've had some assume that everyone wants sour cream. It's good to get exactly what you ordered. Of course, you should expect it, but it seems as though it doesn't happen as often as it should. I thought that the person preparing food was in charge, and he seemed to be. When it was quiet, he went into an office and I could hear change. I hope he washed his hands afterward. I had a bit of conversation with all three employees there today, and they made the stop worthwhile, as well as enjoyable. I learned more about southern Indiana in one sitting than what I'd heard the rest of my life. They asked if I wanted more to drink and I asked for it in a to-go cup, and they were right on it. Good service is appreciated. I really wish that they'd cleaned better but then, I noticed when the food preparer went into the office, he'd left a mess on the work area. I know things happen and maybe no other customer would have noticed, but it's important to keep things clean.

Service is okay but prices are insane. I would rather spend my money and get more at a different restaurant.

I enjoy the food. I did not like the employees smoking on break by where you order at the drive through.

Yay! We just drove an hour from Cincinnati to get here (for carry out, no less!) I promise that it…read morewon't be the last time! We split their better than anyone else's (even mine) breaded tenderloin sandwich, fried mushrooms (homemade) and later will polish off a piece of homemade carrot cake. The tenderloin was freshly hand battered, as were the mushrooms. The batter was crispy and light, and enrobed a nice thick piece of tenderloin. If you are a tenderloin fan like we are, you gotta try it. Big enough for both of us with some leftover for later. Our takeout bag included salt, ketchup, and plastic ware. What I didn't expect is the bread and butter that they also included! I knew from reading the reviews that every table gets this bread service. I was very impressed that they included it in takeout. We will be back soon, and I hope to try other menu items. But that tenderloin is sooo good, it will definitely be a struggle to order anything else.

We looked at the menu and we all decided to get the same thing, the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. I had the sandwich with onion rings and coleslaw. The tenderloin comes on a bun with pickles, tomato, onion, and mayo. I asked them to leave the mayo off of mine and they did. I chose to put mustard on mine and it was on the table along with ketchup. They have Pepsi products and I ordered a Dr. Pepper. My husband had the fries with his tenderloin. They were incredibly quick on getting the meal out to us. Everything was piping hot! Our waitress was good about checking on us and refilling drinks. Also they have bread service and we had fresh hot bread with soft butter prior to getting our meal. My tenderloin was meaty and pretty good, hubby thought it had too much breading. Coleslaw was ok. Onion rings were good. Someone came over to our table to ask if we would like one of their homemade desserts, I am assuming he was the manager. My friends took home a piece of carrot cake and they said it was good. The other offerings they had on this evening were peach cobbler, blackberry cobbler, and a couple different cheesecakes. Overall it was good and we decided we would go back again to try something different on the menu.

We ordered at the counter in lieu of the machines. We are not a fan of them. The wait was getting increasingly longer. I always think it would be a good move to get an order for coffee only out of there quickly. That's just my opinion. Anyhow, one of the workers comes out from the back collecting our tickets and we come to realize that their screens in the back have shut down and they have lost their ability to fill orders. The lobby was getting crowded. We finally got our coffee and I will give them the grace knowing their technology issue. The staff was respectful despite a stressful situation. BTW, I was not real excited to see the exterminator there at the height of the breakfast crowd. I understand the need for this service in a restaurant though maybe they should schedule this at some less crowded time of day. We drove off south bound coffee in hand and happy to be on the road again. Thanks McDs.

It was pretty busy but they were quick to get your orders out. The manager did a good job leading her crew to stay on top of the orders and at the same time telling them they're doing good in a positive sort of way. Not kiss a$$ like. My order was fresh and it hit the spot on a cold Tuesday morning. It was like low 40s high 30s. I ordered: 1. Biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage - That hit the spot with a hashbrown. I'm not going to lie I took a nap shortly after. Kudos to those that go to work after that. 2. Sausage McMuffin meal - always my husband's go to Not sure if it's just me but the hashbrowns taste different in the East coast. It's like I can really taste the potatoes or something. Highly recommend this spot, the team was way better here than any other McD's I've been to.
