The best thing about this place is Mary and the rest of the staff. Very friendly and funny, it makes for a more personable experience. I'm not sure what I ever did to get on Mary's bad side, but at least she likes my daughter so she will let me get my nails done there. My only issue with this place is it is always busy and since I am one who typically decides at the last minute I want to get my nails done, I'm not inclined to wait. It's always a treat when the stars align, I feel like getting a mani or pedi and they aren't too busy to seat me right away. I will NEVER set foot in here again I have been going here for about 2-3 months now and everyone I've had does a terrible job except for the owner, Mary, who does a great job but everyone who goes there regularly is her client and she doesn't have time for anyone else. I somehow always get stuck with the guy with the panther tattoo, and he has yet to do a good job on my nails. My toenails chip and break 1-2 days after I get them done, my acrylics are never presentable. But this time it was hands down the worst manicure I have ever had. I picked my color and it was supposed to be a very very light blue/grey color and the color he brought out was a dark periwinkle blue. I told him that was the wrong color and he said that the color he brought had the same number, and that the samples they have you look through are really old so the colors fade. Then I asked him if they had any that actually looked like the color I showed him (since they tend to know all the colors they have pretty well) and he very rudely told me 'what you see is what we have, we don't have anything else it's what you see' so then I over to pick another color and they were out of it, and the third color was a very similar light blue/grey color like the 1st one. The color he brought me was what is shown in the pictures. If there is that much difference in your samples because they 'fade' then change your damn samples! It's not that hard to replace the old ones every once in a while. When he did my nails he went wayyyy too far with the dremal tool and my nails felt like they were on fire. And the acrylic he put on top felt like I was sticking my hand in acid. He was too busy watching a football game to pay attention to the job he was doing and my nails are all different lengths and shapes and the shellac is so thick and old it's ridiculous. I cant do anything with how thick these nails are. During the game I guess something happened he didn't like and he started cursing and dropping f-bombs and every other name in the book to the tv. Since when is it acceptable to do that in front of your CUSTOMERS?? And finally when I was paying I handed tried handing him his tip (which he definitely didn't deserve) and he just stood there and ignored my outstretched hand throughout the whole time he was running my card and I was signing, and he only took it when I gave him the receipt back after I signed it. They do a really good shape here, but I've heard others with the same complaints that the colors they present aren't really true to the color they are. Going here I picked out a grey/ army green color, which was actually a blue when put on my nails. They told me it's because the samples are old, but why not renew them so we can actually pick out a color? I would've been happy with the service & place if they offered a color similar to the sample, but the nail tech became frustrated because I complained that the color was different, and then proceeded to have me pick out a completely new color! It was similar to the sample, but again, not the same. Update your samples!! read more

I came here after reading positive reviews from Yelp and I was very satisfied with what I got! The employees were very friendly and the lady who did my nails worked very quickly and efficiently, we were done in about 35 minutes. I got a gel French manicure on all my fingers for $30 and was told that if I come back in two weeks to have my nails touched up that will be $20. I like my nails, they look nice and smooth and the length is perfect. She didn't go overboard with the thickness of the gel so they look natural. A positive experience! I've been going here for 4 years. I have a standing appt. every 2 weeks with Mary. She always does an awesome job and now we even know practically what color to use every time we've become so in tuned. She is very accommodating when I have to change my schedule and her whole family is beautiful. I get gel/shallac nails, eyebrows and a toe polish change and occasionally a pedicure. Always satisfied. I have gone here quite a few times. Better quality work than most in the area (Bar isn't set high though). And have been satisfied, not overly thrilled, with my nails. I am a licensed nail tech myself. When I go in my nails are totally prepared for the service: nail polish off cuticles pushed back etc.. less work for them. I got a full set put on. And when asked how long I wanted them , I showed him. It was slightly longer than a normal nail. The only reason I do this is because every time I leave and get in my car I noticed that they are all un even. So I have to file them straight and I lose the length. I also never ever require nail polish at the end of the service. Again because I have to file them due to uneven. I was charged an extra three dollars saying my nails were "long". I find this absolutely absurd. They were not long they were slightly longer than the average length. And I don't know what measurement is being used to determine what is long and what is not. I guarantee no extra product was used to complete my nails. And as I said I never get nail polish.... so wouldn't that balance out? Even Steven. I just find it to be a very tacky way to try to gain more money. I could've been tactless and said that I want them longer because I have to file all the uneven nails and lose length. But I didn't. And they do not tell you this when they are asking you the link and cutting it. That is deceitful. You are obligated to tell people upfront of extra charges. And they then have the option to go ahead with it or not. You don't spring it on them at the end when nothing can be done. Anyway, even though it is three blocks from my house I probably will not go back. And all over three dollars! read more

Our normal salon was booked so my daughter went here to get her nails done. She really liked the friendly lady that did her nails. Last week I went to get my nails done and tried Gold Star. I got Shellac. They didn't didn't know the names of the common OPI colors as all other salons do, so I had to pick from a mess of colors with just numbers. To my surprise after exactly one week my nails started chipping so I went back into the salon. I had to show them my receipt twice and they asked me to literally point out the person who did my nails the week before. As if this wasn't awkward enough, that guy was busy so another guy had to fix my nails. He (stocky guy with tattoos) showed his great frustration in having to fix someone else's mistake. He then showed more frustration at me that I didn't know the number of the nail color and he had to wait while I searched their bins for it. I thought he was just going to touch up the parts that were chipped. He almost yelled at me that it was not an option (other salons have done a touch up on the tips) and he had to take it all off and start over. I never told him how much time I had but he assumed that I was in a huge hurry. I was afraid to have him do it and my hesitation in responding led him to believe I was in a hurry. How do you tell somoene you don't want them working on your nails while angry? He got out cotton and soaked them in remover. I asked what he was going to do and he said that if I didn't have time to get them redone, then he would have to take it off. I told him that I didn't understand why he was so angry with me when I was the one that paid $30 and had to come back a week later because they were chipping. Without waiting for me to select an option, he picked up a Dremel tool and started taking the polish off with that. I asked him what he was doing and he said taking it off, I asked why not use the remover and he said that I was in a hurry. I never told him I was in a hurry. He assumed. I said that he seemed angry and asked that he could give me a discount on coming back (because at this point I was very uncomfortable with him working on me). He didn't listen and used the tool on my nails down to damaging them. Now my nails are rough, I have no refund and I was yelled at. It is really upsetting that this man was having a bad day and I had to take the hit for his frustration. I called back to find out his name and the lady who is normally nice started being rude and blaming it on me that I was in a hurry. I told her I am sitting at home on my couch writing a review, I am NOT in a hurry. If she could feel what my nails feel like right now she would not say that. The surface is now damaged and feels like a layer missing on one of the nails. I didn't want shellac put back on the rough, exposed nail surface. Seems that customer satisfaction and healthy practices are not important. Perhaps they could brush up on communication skills so this doesn't happen to someone else. read more

This place is a joke! I had tried calling to schedule an appointment and there was never an answer. When I went in the rude woman that "schedules" the appointments told me she refuses to answer the phone because customers call and want to be seen right away. So she only takes appointments that are scheduled in advance after the customers have had their nails done. The place is dirty too! I definitely wouldn't recommend this business. There is a nice clean one down the street at Grandriver and Drake I would go to. They have disposable plastic wrap for their pedicure bowls too. read more

I just came across this place randomly. I went on a Friday around 4pm and there was no wait! That's the best way to start off a manicure. The manicure was to the point and very reasonably priced at $12. The nail technician did a good job. Unfortunately the nail polish I picked was a little too thin so my nails were a little sheer which looked a little weird since the color was a goldish-yellow.
