Goldstrike Casino has become an absolute disaster zone under the new ownership. This place has nosedived so hard it's almost impressive -- if neglect, filth, and incompetence were an Olympic sport, they'd take the gold. Nothing works. The elevators have been broken for months, leaving only one in service. It's a safety hazard and a blatant ADA violation waiting to happen. Elderly guests, people with disabilities, and staff are forced to wait for ages or climb stairs while management pretends it's not their problem. Maybe an ADA investigation is the only thing that will finally get them to care. The casino floor? Dead. No payouts, no energy, no life. Machines are tighter than a vault and about as exciting as a morgue. The staff look miserable, clearly beaten down by leadership that gives zero concern for morale or guests. Then there's the food -- if you can call it that. The restaurant and steakhouse are an insult. My steak smelled so foul it was actually nauseating -- like rancid meat and dirty gym socks. It was disgusting, and management usually doesnt even blink. Typically No apology, no replacement, no basic decency. Just indifference. They took the steak off the bill for once but I didnt even eat any of it it was so disgusting. The entire property is dirty, outdated, and depressing. Stained carpets, broken fixtures, and an overwhelming feeling that no one in charge has lifted a finger in months. It's honestly unsafe and unsanitary. Their "1 Star Rewards" program couldn't be more fitting -- because that's exactly the experience you'll get: 1 star service, 1 star cleanliness, 1 star management, and 1 star safety. Gold Strike Casino We had a family reunion @ Gold Strike. We looked for a hotel close to home town and nearby Juneteenth events. Rooms are dated, bring your favorite pillow. Book online for every booking including group. Jalissa (check -in) was professional and patient. Our family reunion dinner at Chicago Steakhouse was the highlight. Rex was very accommodating. Omar and the waiter's staff were excellent and outstanding. The food was succulent, seasoned and cooked with perfection. I failed to ask the chef's name. My only experience at this casino consisted of a drive down to place some bets on a few sporting events during which time I also played a few tables games and spent a few minutes on the slots so I can't speak to the hotel or most of the restaurants or other amenities. That being said, the BetMGM app works inside the casino and has full functionality to place all the bets that you would be able to in any other circumstances. (Some states are less restrictive and you can use the app anywhere, apparently in Mississippi you have to be inside the casino). They have fantastic sportsbook specific customer service agents inside a sports bar and they can guide you through promos etc on the app. There's also a full bar in there and a food menu. Tons of slots all around on the casino floor, (which is actually 2 floors), and all the table games with plenty of tables open on a Sunday night. Most blackjack tables were $25 minimum, I believe there was 1 that was $15. Craps also $15 minimums. Plenty of staff, wait staff passing through relatively frequently. Clean, tidy and professional dealers. Lots of easy parking outside both valet and self parking. Trying to figure out comps can be nebulous at best in a lot of cases, but I feel like it didn't take much to get a couple of meals in the restaurant that was open later in the evening when I got hungry. Food was alright. Chicken fingers, fried catfish, fries etc. Not bad for a free meal. Overall this place is worth a stop if you're passing by and I'd book the hotel if I were passing by just to play a little along the way. read more

Checking into hotel with rude clerks and finally getting to your out-dated room will spoil your entire trip before you ever get to the gaming floor. Owners, Cherokee Nation, should either fix this place up or bite the bullet and close this dump down... Half of the elevators don't work and the food (standing in line) is not worth the wait. Where to begin, Very outdated casino, terrible service. Rooms smelled awful, carpeting looks rotten(frayed, ripped, wore out) Beds broke down and neglected. Dealers in the high limit area spent more time talking with each other than doing their jobs. Nothing worse than sitting at a table playing and dealers stop play to have conversations with each other across the room, bad management. On this first visit, I enjoyed myself. This is a good sized casino, not too big or small. Keep in mind, this isn't Vegas but definitely a fun option. I went with some buddies while visiting the Memphis area on a Friday night. We visited the sports book first and ate dinner there. The food, service and screen options were great. From there, we hit the casino floor and being a Friday, it was quite crowded and smokey. Luckily, we went upstairs where it was non-smoking and hardly any crowd. Upstairs they had slots and tables. There's also a sports bar up there but it was closed, however there are sports book kiosks where one can place bets. Drink service was available and service was fast. (reposted here for hotel) Not a great place. We reserved two rooms during what I hope is the "off" season. The property was 80% empty. Despite all the issues, this is still the highest priced room in Tunica. We stayed here because we did not want any issues. We are both MLife members. Please note, THEY DO NOT CLEAN THE ROOMS HERE. Noticed we did not have housekeeping after our first day; phoned the desk. When I asked for housekeeping, the girl did not answer, but instead said this: "if you would like some towels I can send them up." Wait, what happened with the housekeeping? "If you want some towels I can send some up." Um, so... not even a straight answer. Turns out, after you arrive, there is no housekeeping. This was NOT mentioned in the reservation process. They spring this on you after you arrive. Again, a full price property. And four days -- no cleaning. At $159 a night? Terrible. The rooms are probably the best in Tunica, but apparently that is not saying much. Rooms were originally well furnished, but now showing signs of age. There were spots of hair, dust and not-too-clean areas. Mattress was good. Room was quite cold (winter) and heat was not working. Had to request even a blanket. Shower pressure is poor. Be aware there is no food available anywhere on the property after ten pm. You have a fridge and microwave. There is only one other property adjoining (Horsehoe), and they are limited also. If you need anything you are gonna have to drive. There is nothing at all nearby. And take note, there is a buffet here, but I would not recommend you eat there. It is awful. Go somewhere else, enough said. This is not a scenic location, there are high floors but the rear of the place overlooks some kind of abandoned property. This was a Marriott property when we arrived, but there were prominent notices posted everywhere that the property has been sold to an Indian Tribe. My thought is that they were just limping along until the new owners take over (i think in March). The casino with table games is fair, but limits were high the week we were there, so there is much better gambling available down the road (at Fitz and Sams). By friday we realized there was a poker event so the occupancy went way up, along with table limits. Do not recommend at this time. read more

I have only walked through this joint twice, but the lobby is nice, the people are friendly, and the energy is high for non-Vegas. The only bizarre experience was walking upstairs to the non-smoking section and not finding anyone. Not a soul. This means if you want to gamble in Mississippi, you don't like smoke, and you're an introvert, it could be the ideal spot for you. If you want to gamble in Mississippi, you smoke (or like the smell of smoke), then the downstairs might be the ideal spot for you. If you want to gamble in Mississippi and you're a non-smoker/extrovert or a smoker/introvert, you're pretty much screwed. Then again, you won't be gambling so you're also not screwed. That's it! We've been going to Gold Strike for over 10 years. Yesterday is the last we will ever darken their door. Moved our favorite machines downstairs to a nonsmoking section. The nonsmoking section is just as smokey as the smoking section. It makes NO SENSE. The amount of atm/bill breakers machines have been reduced. When you do find one it won't accept a $100 dollar bill. This place has gone to HE double L since the new ownership took over. Asked for a manager. None came. Had to ask again. One guy finally came. Its a no for me. We went to check out the sports book after spending a fabulous week in Vegas with friends. Decided to give Tunica a try, maybe our expectations were too high , who knew that customer service was not a requirement in a casino, the sports book requires reservations. Best casino in the area! You can't miss it, the thirty some floors hotel golden tower is visible from miles around. Once you're in you recognize not only MGM logos and style, but also the great guest experience only they know how to provide. A great selection of slot machines, table games, and a sports book. They also have multiple restaurants and bars, so you have everything you need for a great weekend stay in the resort without ever having to leave. Beware!!!!! I was there in April- walking back to my room, I fell due to the floor, covered by carpet, being elevated. I had been cautious all evening, but missed one on way to room. About 40 minutes later- 12:30am, after I was sleep- a very rude, loud speaking female came pounding on my door. She informed me I needed to fill out a report- asking if I wanted medical assistance. Well- heck no-- didn't want to see a doctor at that time of morning. The next morning and next few days, my knee had swollen and very painful. I called 5 times asking for a copy of the report I had signed along with pictures the woman had taken of my injury- at 12:30 am!!! My knee healed in a few weeks- nothing broken- was just twisted with the fall . I'm 70 years old, have been to many casinos and had never fallen before. There is just nothing going on in Tunica that makes me ever want to go back We stayed in one of the "Stay Well" rooms. Only if you are seriously allergic to pollens will this room make any sense. They do have the Rabbit air purifiers in each room. The aroma therapy is a joke - if you remember the air wick fresheners from the 80's, its the same thing. it's a puck of that airwick material with a fan, and it looks like they change the puck on a monthly basis? with in a few days, the outer layer has dried-up and there is no way for the rest of the aroma to get out (we checked in on the 21st, so nothing) The restaurants closed, the spa closed, and other things to do made this an unenjoyable stay read more

Their card services was closing in 20 min upon my arrival, but they were already trying to pack up for the day. I get it, they're tired. My questions weren't really welcomed and answers were lacking/short. So, I went to the host desk. I'm a VIP player in Vegas & NJ, but didn't have any assigned host. The host, Ms. Johnson, was observed having a lovely 10+ min interaction with the couple infront of me, even offering a gift bag that was declined. When it was my turn, all friendliness disappeared. Each time she spoke, she pulled down her mask which defeats the purpose. I tried asking her about player lounges, player reservations, any promos, and dining options, but kept repeating that I needed to go to the player desk I just came from--which of course, was closed at that point. I showed her my card with status and asked if there were any offers for the resort based on play, and responded to go to the card services AGAIN. Not even a hello to an out-of-towner. Without excusing herself, she answered the phone and decided to take a player's reservation for about 4 minutes. I heard her pleasant tone and accommodated their questions. Pretty much at this point I was disgusted at her lack of courteousness. Once again, I confirmed that there's nothing she can help me with as a host and if in fact she was NOT able to answer any of my questions, suggesting again, I go to the CLOSED player card desk even as a higher tier card holder. (Mind you, the couple ahead of me was only Pearl tiered.) Unbelievable. As I walked away, I heard such a friendly, welcoming greeting to the guest behind me. WTF. Not sure what caused such extreme differences in professionalism and customer service, but I was so disappointed that I didn't bother playing a dime. They also offer the only non-smoking gaming area in all of Tunica located on the second floor. Their high limit room & slot area also has a high availability of tables & slots unlike some of their competitors. I'm not gonna cover Chicago Steakhouse The Atrium & Buffet Americana In this review. They offer seperate yelps & wish to concentrate more on the dining aspects there yelps as you the reader would too. Being you've came to this review for the gaming & not the dining. To give you a taste (pun intended) of all 3 I will have to stay things like delectable exquisite & Magnifique. I will also cover their hotels on their yelp reguarding their hotel. Hotel check-in efficiency is poor, areas for check-in are not marked well from the drive up lanes to the check-in desk. The Hotel Concierge desk was not manned at 7:30 PM. Staff is not friendly. One of the bulbs was missing in the room(there's only two). We decided to eat at the buffet with 2 kids aged 14 and 15. Process to get from lobby to buffet was through the gambling floor. This was a massive ordeal and time suck. The buffet for four people was 174.95 with tip. Plates were not readily provided. Staff at buffet was ridiculously rude and condescending with one of the servers rolling their eyes at my 14 year old daughter. Drink machine did not work properly. We were in Tunica for a junior golf tournament and we're not there to gamble, however, even if I were there to gamble I cannot imagine I would have had a good time with the rude staff and overpriced features of the "resort". When searching for a place to stay on sites like Google it appears that the Gold Strike is a decent deal when compared to traditional hotel rooms in South Haven(about 35 mins from Tunica) but when you factor in the inefficiencies baked into the check-in process with the constant plumes of cigarette smoke emanating from every crevice of the property and the overall rudeness of the staff it isn't. If I could give the property zero stars I would have. Overpriced, outdated, and just a place where social security and welfare checks go to die. Gold Strike is the redheaded stepchild of the MGM Grand family. It just hasn't gotten enough attention and may be a bit neglected. However, still being part of the family is pretty good. There aren't many choices in the South when you want to gamble as we don't have a Vegas or an Atlantic City within a short driving distance. From Nashville the choices are pretty much just the Horseshoe Southern Indiana, Harrah's Metropolis in Illinois or then the 3 casinos in Tunica including Gold Strike. There is no doubt that if you are considering a stay in Tunica that Gold Strike is the best of the 3 choices, though (seriously don't bother with Horseshoe or Roadhouse) Pros: -Inexpensive. They have $50 room deals if you don't come on a weekend. The Buffet Americana is $22/person for dinner but if you gamble a bit and you're new they'll likely comp it for you (review is also a 3 stars but you can read about that separately). You'll get free drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and there are $.25 slot machines and $5 black jack tables for the budget-friendly -Quick, mobile check-in. The hotel sends an e-mail confirming your stay then you confirm what time you'll be there. The hotel will send you a QR code when your room is ready and you can scan it at the machine. There is a little place for you to scan the front and back of your driver's license then voila, you're checked-in! -Friendly staff on the casino floor. The blackjack dealers were all pretty nice and would actually try and help me since I'm a newbie gambler. The servers were good about coming around and asking what drinks you'd like. Cons: -The rooms. There were a couple of weird things about our room such as the fact that there were regular sheets instead of fitted sheets on the beds. We were supposed to have a king but got two queens. The top shelf in the dresser wouldn't stay closed and kept opening up. Also instead of calling the room next to us to do a wake up call they sent a staff member from the front desk to knock on their door which was loud, disruptive and startled us! -The location of Tunica is like a ghost town. A promise of what might've been. The Harrah's in Tunica sits abandoned since 2014 and the grass is overgrowing. The drive between Memphis and Tunica is depressing and is a reminder that this is a spot that is not likely to ever be a huge tourist attraction. We had fun, we won some money, and enjoyed a brief 24 hour stay. I wouldn't recommend staying for longer that 1 night since if you are in your thirties like us you will likely be the youngest people gambling there and if you aren't a smoker then it'll likely start getting to you like it did to us.
