I have a small mouth so naturally my mouth does not open as wide as some others and Dr. Capone and his hygienist worked with me on that but Dr. Shor basically yelled at me because it wouldn't open any wider for her while she was working on me after keeping me waiting for 30MIN to see her. She is also a bit unhygienic, blowing her nose with gloves on and then trying to get right back into my mouth without washing her hands and changing gloves. If it doesn't work in the food industry I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed in dentistry. Not only that but after having a cavity filled by her 2 weeks ago, my tooth is still sensitive and I can't chew on that side at all when I never had any pain before. Once she fixes whatever she did wrong on my filling I will not be returning, I may not even be returning for that.

I was calling around to many offices getting so much attitude and lack of care for my pain - no one could allegedly see me for more than 3 months, even in an emergency. Frustrated, I finally found doctor freedman! His receptionists were the ONLY ones I spoke to over the phone who had an ounce of compassion and although they couldn't get me in asap, they put me on the emergency call list which happened to get me in the next day due to a cancellation. When I got there the process was seamless - quick check in and wait time and incredibly pleasant staff from the front desk to the X-ray tech to the doctor himself. Doctor freedman was incredibly honest, I came in thinking I needed an emergency root canal because of a cavity so he could have totally swindled me and recommended all of this work and I would have believed him. Instead, he said in a calm manner that everything is fine and he could refer me to an orthodontic surgery if I wanted but it wasn't necessary. The pain has mostly subsided but I wanted to see a professional just to be sure. Definitely recommend for an honest and experienced professional!

That was my pitiful situation prior to visiting this dentist. On an uncommonly lucky day, I found a Groupon for this place and I jumped on it immediately. The hygienist that took care of me, Nancy, was very nice. She was patient enough to explain all the things that were wrong with me in great detail, and was generous enough to refer to the horrid blocks of mass in my mouth as "wisdom teeth." She even managed to convince me not to lose any more sleep over my skeptical views of flossing (I do floss, but my imagination goes off in strange places sometimes). She was very easy to talk to, except when I had tubes and sharp metal objects hanging out of my mouth, and she made my visit extremely pleasant. The office was very quiet and well-kept, and the dental chair was surprisingly soft and comfortable. The Food Network was playing silently on TV during my cleaning, and it provided visual reminders of all the foods that got caught in my teeth over the years. Before I left, Nancy gave me a printout of all the things I should do differently, complete with illustrations of magical fairies and jovial teeth. Overall, my first visit here was completely positive. I was never scolded for not coming in sooner, nor was I chastised condescendingly for the way I brush and floss my teeth. They seem to practice positive reinforcement at this place, which is something I'm not used to when I go to the dentist. During my appointment, the dentist told me I needed multiple extractions and dental implants. After I explained that I have Healthfirst Medicaid and that its implant coverage policies had changed, she told me she doesn't bother submitting approval requests because it's "pointless" and suggested I go to a dental school if I wanted a more affordable option. I left the appointment without a treatment plan or a clear explanation of the condition of my teeth. Later that same day, I requested both my X-rays and treatment plan by phone and email. I was told their system was down, yet my X-rays were emailed to me shortly afterward. The treatment plan, however, was never provided. When I followed up again, I was told a treatment plan didn't exist. During that same conversation, I was also told it had already been submitted to my insurance for approval. Those statements directly contradicted one another. I was then offered only a list of tooth numbers that supposedly needed fillings, even though fillings had never been discussed during my appointment. The only treatment the dentist discussed with me was multiple extractions and implants. It's important to note that my broken tooth was never treated. Once I began questioning these inconsistencies, communication stopped. My calls went unanswered, I never received the treatment plan I repeatedly requested, and no one ever explained the contradictory information I had been given. The lack of transparency, inconsistent information, and failure to provide the treatment plan I repeatedly requested left me questioning the credibility of the treatment recommendations I received. If you are told you need extensive dental work at this office, I strongly encourage you to get an independent second opinion before moving forward.
