I've been coming to Grace Dental Smiles since 2018 when the office was under Dr. Cherian, and I always had great experiences with him and the staff. During COVID I moved away for a bit, but when I returned I found the office is now under new ownership with Dr. Alex. I'm happy to say that the quality of care has stayed just as good. The staff has been friendly and professional, and the office still runs very smoothly. Recently I started Invisalign treatment here after having a not-so-great experience with an orthodontist at another office. Dr. Alex has been very responsive to my questions and took the time to make adjustments based on some concerns I had during the process. That kind of attention and willingness to listen really made a difference. I originally shared a positive review in January 2026 after the start of my implant process because I hadn't encountered issues at that point. Now, I feel I must share my full experience for others considering this practice. For the past month and a half--or longer--I've had persistent pain, trouble eating, and a misaligned bite. I've dealt with rotating crowns and foul odors despite taking care of my teeth. Dr. Alex rushed every appointment--working on me for a few minutes, then bouncing to another patient, and then back again. Everything felt rushed, and the work reflected that. I told the doctor how I felt, but I kept hearing, "See how it feels and come back." It was never resolved. I left unhappy each time, still struggling with eating. I gave them multiple chances--trying to schedule when it wasn't so back-to-back and requesting adjustments. The doctor either refused or never fully fixed the problem. It felt like they prioritized quantity over quality. I'm now seeing another dentist to address what wasn't fixed here. Please avoid this place. I had an emergency appointment for a crack tooth I went to my appointment and was told they didn't have time for me. no one wanted to take accountability and step up to resolve the issue. Staff and dentist appeared to pass the blame instead of talking to me and coming to a conclusion staff was like a deer in headlight like it was everyone's first days doing this. Total waste of time when the conflict arouse the dentists went and hid in the back and sent one of the admin people at the front desk to speak to me. unprofessional. **This review is based on 2014-2021 while dr Cherian was the owner I was told he now owns grace dental care in east meadow , but until he is not listed as a doctor on grace dental smiles this review will stay here** If there was a 10th circle of hell it would be in Dr. Cherians chair. I initially went here because of the good reviews . At my first appointment while still in the chair being examined, I was asked to make a google review and show it to him after. Fuc*ing weird but I wanted my teeth fixed so I did it anyway. I got a root canal and crown which was done incorrectly so about two years later the crown just fell out because the tooth underneath rotted away. He gave me another crown which also fell out while I was living in South Korea and the dentist I visited there actually knew what he was doing and fixed it. After returning to the US I went back here simply out of convenience of them having all my records. They were a little condescending about me not going there for a year and I guess don't think dentists in countries count? They wanted to take my wisdom teeth out so took X-rays , but the wrong ones so I had to go back after my appointment was over to get more X-rays. I was supposed to be called back the next week to schedule an extraction, a month goes by didn't hear anything back so I call and them and they told me they have no records of anyone with my name as their patient. Mind you I went there for 8 years . I was fed up and just went to a different dentist and didn't have any reason to think about grace dental anymore . Until today when a friend of mine went there for a root canal and ended up in the emergency room because of this incompetent POS fraud of a dentist so if you like medical malpractice and complications worse than the thing you are trying to treat grace dental is 10/10 for you ! read more

I've been coming here for years dr cherian was great. Problem is they always switch dentists on you and of course don't say anything until you're done with hygienist. Cherian left so thought I'd give dr Alex a try, but even after telling them only dr Alex, I get dr Thomas. He walks in looks at my teeth 1 min says schedule him 2 fillings. He never said anything to me. I had to ask hygienist which teeth and he never asked any pain or sensitivity which I have. He didn't poke the teeth. Turns out wants to fill the front of my teeth on top. I now I have to schedule another place to have my tooth looked at. After 7-8 years I'm done with this place. read more

I am not sure why there are negative reviews, I went into this office and they took care of me, they returned all my calls and were very professional. Front desk lady took great care of my children and even had them in and out very quick and effectively. I was very pleased and happy to say I will be returning. The pricing was reasonable and honestly made me feel very comfortable having my other family members come too. Do NOT USE THEM!! They never can get your insurance coverage so charge you over and beyond. Dr. Cherian will push his bone graphing on every procedure. They tell you you HAVE TO OAY THEIR COSTS and if insurance covers it they'll let you know after. They especially like to get your credit card if you're in need of surgery and try to push sedation so they can charge you the max. He quoted me for $1200 for implant removal and I called and went elsewhere immediately for $200. I also had an overdenture made which the teeth look nicely shaped but color so off and yellow! He never gave me a mirror to look at my mouth and literally pushed me out. I got home to show my family who were shocked at the difference of color! Really? I went back and he tried to throw it at me as if it was my fault and I asked him if he'd walk around looking like this with 2 different sets of colored teeth. His bedside manner can be nice if you do as he says, but if you disagree or can't afford his not looking into insurance prices he gets rude. I couldn't take him anymore, and rather drive the distance to my old dentist or periodontist because at least they are true, empathetic, honest, and compassionate to financial difficulties rather than this crude man.ONCE AGAIN, STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!! read more

The dentist office was full of boxes and the equipment did not look professional. I have been to many dentists. I was afraid I would get an infection. Beyond the worst experience with this dental this office . I had my Four wisdom tooth removed at the same time . The staff is great but oral surgeon doctor Alexander was super neglectful post op. He didn't even clean my mouth area after extraction still had blood on my face if i didn't check the mirror i would have never notice. And never followed up at the front desk by surgeon on how i was feeling or anything he just moved onto his next patient and that was it. My extraction was in the am - i kept calling the office for meds after the anesthesia wore off. didn't get any antibiotics until 5pm and pain meds til following day at 10 am because my prescription was never sent in and i had to keep calling to force them to prescribe me some of pain meds which I ended only getting ibuprofen because the doctor was not in until Monday and they couldn't prescribe stronger medication . Wouldn't be going back to that office. Still is Thursday a week later calling to following up with them to see who dropped the ball nobody had answer and wanted to blame the system yea okay. -- They Literally take your money and moves on to the next.. I chose this dentist based off of reviews I read when I first moved to town 2 years ago . I couldn't be happier . Myself, my husband and my sons all go here . We have had nothing but wonderful experiences. Dr Alex , the other primary dentist and all of the staff are fantastic. The ladies at the front desk are so helpful and welcoming . . My kids actually enjoy going for their cleanings . My husband has had a lot of work done on his teeth and had not one complaint . And as for me I'm in the process of straightening my teeth with clear aligners that Dr. Alex had recommended to me, assuring me of a quick easy process . I couldn't be more pleased with the progress and the process. Quite literally felt like I was in the twilight zone. Upon entering the exam room, I was greeted with an overflowing garbage can. A woman came in and told me I would need x-rays. I had overheard some comforting words amongst coworkers about how she's never done x-rays before, so this should be fun(for real?!). It took 3 people, and 20 minutes to take routine x-rays. Finally, a doctor comes in, does the cleaning, and then gets up and leaves. It was so quick, I said to myself this can't be it, can it? I'm left in the chair with the bib on, wondering if anyone was coming back. Finally he comes back about 2 minutes later and tells me that I'm done. 5 minute cleaning and 20 minute x-rays? He didn't even floss my teeth!! Why take x-rays if you aren't even going to review them with the patient? I'm absolutely baffled. Upon leaving the office, I am told by one receptionist that another would help me. I go over to her little window, and she asked me if I had fluoride to which I couldn't even respond because no one actually really spoke to me at all. They told me I was all set, and to have a nice day. She didn't even offer to schedule my next appointment, not that I would have. I'm never going back. If I can give negative stars I would. The office is unorganized and loses documents. They cause me to lose out on work thrrough my insurance because they kept misplacing and having info sent over to them for months and telling me to wait to the point I no longer had the Insurance. The doctors are ridiculous, they had someone do my fillings who had messed them up so much. The filling melded 3 teeth together. They "fixed" it which my new office is telling me they'd have to put a special request to my new insurance to have the it fixed again. Asked twice about a gum issue they disregarded and told me wasn't an issue. Through just looking my new dentist said the issue has worsened and could've been stopped and fixed before it got bad if they just checked it out.Would tell whoever to avoid this place read more

I just went to Grace Dental for my scheduled cleaning, first time since Covid started. They were absolutely wonderful. Clean, took each precaution. everyone was wearing a mask. I wore mask until I got into the chair. Rokea did my cleaning and she was very thorough, and explained everything I would feel before I felt it. She also advised me that I had been grinding my teeth. She saw the wearing down to the top of my teeth. Showed and explained it to me. Told me to try to pay attention. I might need a mouth guard. No one had ever told me that before. Hmm. I've been seeing Dr. Cherian for over a year and him and his office staff are absolutely wonderful. I have a childhood trauma from my former dentist that prevented me from going to the dentist for several years. Once I needed to have work done, my mother recommended Grace Dental Smiles and I finally bit the bullet and went. I am so thankful I did. Dr Cherian and his staff are very calming and reassuring. I explained my past trauma, and Dr. Cherian made it a point to explain everything he was doing and why, which made me feel much more comfortable in the chair. Other Tips: The office is immaculate and each chair has a TV which makes the appointment fly. There is a lot of parking, as the office is in the same parking lot as the ShopRite. WORST dentist experience I have ever encountered. This office is totally unprofessional and dirty. I took my 2 young children there for back to back appointments- upon entering (on time!) the front desk girl told us to "give them a minute they're in a meeting". I had completed online forms for both my children and she brought me the same paperwork to do in the office because she "couldn't find" my online forms. We sat for 15 minutes after our scheduled appt and then was taken in for my first child. the hygienist cleaned my sons teeth and was gentle with him. The dentist then came In and had ZERO patients for me child. He was visibly annoyed and rude to my poor son, who was behaving very nicely. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN HERE, THEY NEED KIND BEDSIDE MANNER. After my first son, the hygienist told us to go wait in the waiting room again because she had another appointment..... meanwhile I scheduled my 2 kids back to back for a reason! My 2 year old was now delayed for his appointment yet again and being a kid in the waiting room, talking loudly and laughing. The front desk was sushing us and the woman has the audacity to tell me to control my 2 year old because other patients were being seen. This is when I completely LOST IT and walked right out of that office - canceling my 2 year olds apt and the following 6 month cleaning for my 5 year old. I walked out of this office, I went in for an emergency root canal ( they were the only office willing to do it that day). I was in severe pain saw my regular dentist, but he unfortunately did not do root canals in his office. Gave me recommendations but none were available for at least 2 weeks. So called Grace Dental Smiles and they said they were in network with my insurance ( I later found out they are not). The office was not clean, didn't have even basic equipment ( ex. Light above the patient). Told them my name was spelled incorrectly in computer ( was not corrected). Wouldn't have my pet worked on in that office. And this is during a global pandemic. My son had an appointment and I was unable to go in the room with him. I was told by the office manager she would have them change rooms so I could go in. Then she came out and said I can't come in because it's a policy. Which is it? It was a new dentist and my son has never seen this woman nor have I. I called and explained my son was in severe pain and would need a root canal. I had his braces bracket removed and they didn't even touch that tooth. So now I am going to locate a Reputable dentist who will treat his exposed nerve. I will never use and I would never refer. I should have never returned after I was reprimanded by the dentist for my timing with my children. I am a nurse and have been working through Covid entirely. X-rays every visit. Unnecessary root canal on a perfectly fine tooth. They scheduled me for an appointment on a day they were closed. Another appointment scheduled for a cleaning hours before the hygienist was due in. I called to get clarification on a billing issue and the receptionist was so busy trying to feed me an answer that she never answered my question. After pointing out multiple times that she wasn't addressing my question and speaking over me I suggested I would go elsewhere and her response was "good"! The hygienist is awesome though. read more

Grace Dental smile are crooks they inform you about a service that they offer and won't let you decline that service. I had a deep cleaning and they offered multiple service that you have to pay for which I declined when it was first brought to my attention but they took it upon themselves to perform it anyway as well as charge me for these services. They tell you it's a co-pay but it's services that they perform which without my consent. I do not recommend anyone to come here. They want to squeeze every dime out of the insurance and what ever the insurance doesn't pay they want to squeeze it out of you. DO NOT COME HERE THIS PLACE NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. read more

Stay far away!! Horrible staff and "dentist". I took my 8 year old on a few occasions to have teeth pulled. First visit went smoothly, second visit as I was trying to calm her down and I was asked to leave the room, which I denied and basically told him to go screw himself. Third visit as my father was trying to calm her down the "dentist" asked him to leave the room as well, which again we denied. Instead of trying to calm down an 8 year old Dr. Avinash Cherian told my child "either you do this now or go somewhere else". The poor child was scared and all she received was disrespect and nastiest.
