Sweet little burger and sandwich shop. Went to see a show at a nearby theater and stopped here for a quick bite to eat. Normally refrain from meat but went totally bad today and got a pastrami loaded hot dog called the Gold Dog, a Dad's root beer and onion rings. These were made as a combo for better pricing. I paid $19 for the whole meal. The establishment has little seating and there is some outdoors. The staff were friendly and polite as well. The California Classic burger has lettuce, and any other burger with onions will offer a slightly different profile. I think the additional sweetness and tang would better balance the burger. The curly fries are the better choice, as the standard fries are nothing special. Maybe they ought to be double-fried? Can't fault this place at all. I have to say, this is probably one of the best burgers in LA. We came here opening time on a weekday and there were already people ordering. The staff were super friendly as well. We got the goldburger combo and I got the bar burger on the side. The goldburger was super juicy and delicious. It's limited but I've always been able to find a spot. I've gone a couple times and got the Goldburger ($12). It's a smash burger with two patties. I thought the flavor was good along with its crispy texture. There are two types of fries ($5) . The curly ones are seasoned and personally I found them very salty. Side of sauce for dipping is an additional 75 cents. Overall, I think the location is great and the smash burger is solid. The price point if you're getting burgers, fries and a drink is a little steep compared to other burger spots. They do have a combo deal for earlier in the day to save some money. read more

Once again, another LA burger spot that doesn't deliver the hype! I cannot understand why so many daft humanoids out there claim that this is the best burger in LA. It's not even in the top 10. First, let me tell you about the locations. Odd to say the least. There are three or four that I know of, but they are all holes in the wall. You won't get much space to hangout. And as far as condiments go - forget it. The burger itself is greasy and rather pedestrian in quality and size. The meat is prepared smash burger style with the crispy edges that you get from a good smash burger grilled. The meat is fine - quality but not a ton of flavor and most importantly, natural and not too salty. The bum is nothing to write home about. Basic and neither great nor putrid. They could upgrade it. Toppings? Not vast, but the dressing they use for their burgers does provide that extra kick. Onions are thin - bit too thin for my liking. There isn't really a crispy side to their burgers. They get weighed down by all that grease. Go to Wisconsin if you want a butter burger that will put this to shame. This burger wouldn't even qualify as worth paying for in the Midwest. Sides? Forget about it. No point in ordering. Way below average. Again, when it comes to burgers, don't take anything Californians say seriously. They overhype average things because they no longer have high quality as judging by the deterioration of the state itself. Would I go back? No. There are far better burgers around. To be honest my experience here was subpar. My bf ordered a Goldburger and I ordered a Kids burger because I wasn't that hungry. We also got curly fries on the side. The service was pretty good and the food came out decently fast and fresh. I wasn't super impressed with the taste of my burger-it was good but wasn't great. This was my second time having a smash burger in general so I was a little surprised by the lack of toppings on the burger (mine only came with ketchup but I asked for lettuce in addition). The burger tasted well seasoned and I loved that the buns were similar to Hawaiian rolls in terms of flavor. I didn't think the curly fries were that tasty (their looks are deceiving) as they needed more salt and/or seasonings. Overall the burger and fries had good flavor. This is my new favorite spot for smash burgers. I love the fact that their patties are not as thing as other smash burger spots and are actually meaty. I got their California classic which is different from their Goldberg by having diced onions instead of grilled, lettuce and their classic house sauce. I usually get a 3x2 at In n Out, but I think their double patty burgers are just as filling. Their fries are pretty decent, nice crisp and thickness! I recommend their house sauce to dip them in. Small spot with a bar to sit on and a few tables inside and outside. Most people do take out.
