Stopped by because I heard great things about their food and was underwhelmed. I ordered the double cheeseburger combo that came with a sparkling lemonade and curly fries. I paid $19 for the whole meal. The establishment has little seating and there is some outdoors. The staff were friendly and polite as well. There is little parking available so it may be best to carpool The fries were fresh and crispy and seasoned perfectly The burger however was very dry and even on the crunchier side. The bun was soft and warm and fresh, however The patties were seasoned but I'm accustomed to a juicy smashburger and this didn't hit the mark. Not sure if I got an overcooked burger or that's their style. I'm unsure if I would return

Pretty solid burgers, small little hole in the wall. Super clean and very friendly staff :)

Very good smash burgers. Restaurant / menu is exactly what you expect - burgers, a few signature sauces, fries. All done very well. They have a small but comfortable indoor eating area. Outdoor seating is also available. Super nice to be able to pick! Only drawback? On the pricier side but I think that's just the state of food in LA these days. Thank you for a great meal! Recommended and I'll be back.

Stopped in while taking a stroll. Very busy little spot. They have a seating area inside. The staff were very nice. The food was fresh and tastes great.

If you like super thin crispy edges from a super thin burger patty, Goldburger might be your thing. You get two grass fed patties, grilled onions, cheese, pickles, and a tasty garlic mustard aioli. It's a classic burger and very tasty. The flavor comes from the great beef quality. It's also aesthetic perfect looking for a burger. I just wish the burger was a tad larger. Just a warning that you should expect quite a bit of grease dripping from the bottom. Located in Chinatown, Goldburger is located in the outdoor corridors of Chinatown Plaza with limited to outdoors seating. Overall, the burger here is very good. I did have the pastrami burger a few years ago at the HP location which I wouldn't opt for in the future. Pastrami is protein overload that takes away the flavor of the burger which can get overwhelming. Overall, worth a try for burger lovers.

Goldburger is a tiny spot on the street, but the food coming out of there is serious. I grabbed their signature Goldburger to go for lunch, and it completely delivered. It's a classic smash burger, thin patties with perfectly crispy edges and a juicy middle. The Goldburger comes stacked with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and their house made garlic mayo sauce, all on a soft potato bun. Everything just worked together in the best way. The sauce was creamy with a little tang, the onions were caramelized and sweet, and the bun held up like a champ. Super balanced, nothing felt overdone, just a really well executed burger. Honestly, it's one of the best smash burgers I've had in LA.

Easily the best Smashburger in LA. I've tried everything from The Window, For the Win and Easy Street, and no one does it like Goldburger. First, I love that when they smash the patty, they include the stringy onions. I can taste the quality of the meat while enjoying all of the crispy meat edges. The best part is their homemade garlic honey mustard aioli. It's what differentiates this burger than everyone else's.

By far the most lacking burger-fries combo I've had in LA. And it costs almost $20. Though conveniently located next to the Los Feliz theater, it's a major pass. The main thing for me was how the burger in theory should've slapped, had the fat and salt components, but no other flavors. So it came off super greasy. The bun was also dry and crumbled apart. Didn't help that it lacked sauce. Had to hack it down. Fries were unevenly fried and didn't have the crispy double-fried edge.

Truly one of my favorite burgers in LA. The crispy edges of the patties are to die for. I do think the meat itself could be a little juicier (this is my 2nd time here and last time the meat wasn't dry at all). Regardless, the grilled onions, pickles, and special sauce combo are unbeatable. The curly fries are your standard old reliable. The interior is quite small and there are three tiny tables outside, so not much seating. But I came on a Tuesday evening and it was not crowded at all. It might be different on the weekend. 10/10 recommend!

I really love Smashburgers and was so excited to try this place. The things I look for are a crispy skirt, a good mayo based sauce, and well cooked grilled onions, all of which were checked at Goldburger. Food (5/5): We ordered the double smash burger with cheese, and it was so flavorful and juicy. The bun was also nicely toasted. We also ordered curly fries to share between three people, and it was a good amount. The burger, fries, drink combo was a good lunch deal for $13 if I remember correctly. Service (5/5): I ordered from the window and the cashier was friendly. Our order of two burgers, fries and a drink was ready in about 10 minutes. We got takeout and I don't think they had many seats inside. Ambiance (3/5): The restaurant is right next to a busy street which wasn't great to stand next to, so eating outside probably wouldn't have been the move. I'd just recommend getting takeout.

staff was super nice and cool. Got the classic. Burger was okay, the meat was cooked nice but I really thought the signature sauce was weird. tasted like it was pulled of a shelf in my grandmas cabinet and smeared on there. Not much flavor on the burger nor enough toppings (im sure this is just standard build) I would have liked more sauce, more pickles, better flavor. Staff was 10/10 tho and the burger was cooked handsomely this has more to do with my opinion on the burger itself

California Classic, 5 stars. Absolutely delicious!

I've been visiting Goldburger since they were a pop-up on Sunset Blvd years ago. Today I got take-out from the Los Feliz location and have to say the burgers are just as delicious as always. CALIFORNIA CLASSIC - 5+ stars. A double smashburger served with cheese, pickles & lettuce. This is the perfect patty, crispy edges and full of flavor. ($12) CURLY FRIES - 5 Stars. This is one tasty curly fry, loaded with flavor and cooked perfectly. FRIES - 3 1/2 Stars. Lacks seasoning, pretty basic French Fry to be honest. The addition of salt or using ketchup is definitely needed for this. ($5) Customer service is great and laughed at my bad jokes. I went around 1:30p and there was tons of easy street parking. This is definitely a solid spot for tasty smashburgers.

Can't fault this place at all. I have to say, this is probably one of the best burgers in LA. We came here opening time on a weekday and there were already people ordering. The staff were super friendly as well. We got the goldburger combo and I got the bar burger on the side. The goldburger was super juicy and delicious. Everything worked well in the burger, from the pickles to the mustard sauce. You can 100% taste the quality as well. The bar burger was also fantastic. I got this burger since I loved onions in burgers and this one included both raw onions and pickled onions. This place is very quaint, just like most places in LA. There are a few outside seats but also bar seating inside. There is a restroom as well! There's no sign but it's basically the door at the end. Can't wait to be back here

Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back. Tasty burgers and a must try for sure if your around! Cheers!

Howlin' Ray's is there too... but I don't care. ‍ Yes, they have smash burgers here, but I don't really think of Amboy as a smash burger place. It's the thicker burgers that keep bringing me back. Also, don't plan your entire trip around getting The DH because they don't always have it. This was my second visit and once again it wasn't available, so we ended up getting the Amboy and the Fancy, both Slim Thicc style. The seating situation is the only real downside. On weekends people end up eating all over the plaza--around the trees, on benches, basically wherever they can find a place to sit. Weekdays are definitely the move if you can make it. One thing to know before you get in line: people take their sweet time ordering here, and honestly I get it because everything sounds good. Just bring a little patience. The only thing I wish they'd asked was how I wanted my burger cooked. They asked what thickness I wanted but not the temperature. I'm always happy when a burger place asks if I want medium rare, medium, whatever. Next time I'll probably just tell them I want it medium rare. The burgers though? Fantastic. Especially if you're like me and getting a little burned out on every new place opening another expensive smash burger spot. One warning though... Don't plan anything after eating here. I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.

To say I'm super bummed is an understatement. I am so thankful that I happen to stop by for lunch and visit this location one last time. The same manager was there on the last day as when I went the first time two years ago. The staff there was always amazing, friendly, and the food was incredible. I think it was the Chinatown location that didn't work for them. However, the good news is that they do have three other locations and if you have never been, I suggest you check Kroft out if you love burgers, especially smashed. The other locations are in Long Beach, Anaheim, and Rancho Cucamonga. I wish them luck and I will definitely be stopping in their other locations if I am ever in the area.

Waited another 10min, while I saw other people picking up orders, so I checked in again. Same response, not ready yet. Another 10min passed by, now I'm seeeing people who came after me get their orders before me. Asked the staff again for my order status. The order pick up window person shouted my name to the kitchen each time I checked in. Finally the 3rd time they responded, they start arguing, apparently my order was done a long time ago, and it was given to someone else. It took 30min to figure out that my order had already been done and given to someone else because there was no communication between the kitchen, order staff or pick up staff. no apology, just got my food after the argument 3minutes later...Food was average, definitely not worth a 30min wait.
