It took about 10-15 minutes for the order to be bagged. I ate in the car. I was underwhelmed even with the address Patty and extra cheese. The fries needed a deep fry. I've wanted to check out Irv's Burgers for a while now, but I never really had the chance until today. I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back. read more

Tried Irv's for the first time last night. I am thoroughly impressed! I got Irv's Original Roadside Burger and fried onion rings. This might just be the juiciest fast food burger I've ever had. I love the Irv's special sauce and the way the buns are toasted. Next time I will be customizing my burger and adding yellow peppers. The burger I had here was much better than the one I had at the Malibu location! I ordered the Best Burger on "The Menu" and it was pretty good! What I liked about it were the beef patties which were meaty, juicy, and nicely charred. It also married well with the other components such Irv's sauce and the toasted sesame bun. I also liked how the pickles were a perfect compliment and weren't too overpowering. An overall solid and delicious burger! Fries were also great and nicely crispy. Irv's is great. It is nicely located in mid-Wilshire. Parking is easy. The food is great. This is semi fast food. They have great burgers and we love their hot dogs. They have a cool preview menu before you walk in. You order at the counter. The place is always super clean and it is cute. It is not huge but you can get there or have take away. I bet they also have a delivery service. The service is just so nice and I love the menu. We also love all the sandwiches, my favorite being the tuna melt. They also have great patty melts and pastrami which is very tasty. Their onion rings and tater tots are ever so good. There is nothing not to like at this cute place. Have fun. read more

This was my first visit to Irv's after passing by a few times on my way toe Fairfax and finally giving in to a pastrami-on-rye craving. While the staff was genuinely friendly--especially the cashier, who handled a mix-up with professionalism--the food itself was average. The pastrami was decent, but drowned in sweet mustard, which threw off the balance. Fries were underwhelming with a strange floury crust, and the onion rings (which I had to remind them about) were a letdown--$6 for five rings screams shrinkflation. The spot has a typical roadside burger stand vibe. I ordered inside and dined there. Props to the cashier again for comping the fries after the mix-up. It wasn't too busy which was nice and even if it was there was ample seating for a quick burger stop. The burgers were so juicy and flavorful. Before this became Irv's Burgers, it used to be a great roast beef place. After it became Irv's I went to this place only once to get a Krabby Patty during those promotional periods. It was pretty good, so when I was driving aimlessly wondering where to eat, like I normally do once a week, I stopped by here to grab something to try. I got their best burger on the menu and chili cheese fries. The first thing I did was bite into the burger, then I realized something while I was doing that. The bun was covered in more sesame seeds than I've ever seen before. It immediately made me think of the Big Mac song and how I thought that this burger joint just completely ran with the idea of a toasted sesame bun. In addition to the sesame bun, the burger also came with a 4 ounce patty, cheese, sauce, grilled onions and pickles. The burger was quite filling and was really good, but I guess on the downside, the burger alone does cost about the same as a double double combo at In N Out. The flavors went well together and the patty was pretty hearty, which was nice. The fries were pretty good too. They reminded me of wienerschnitzel's chili cheese fries due to their size and texture, but the chili was a lot less greasy, had less of a sweet taste and felt like a healthier and higher quality chili than you would find there. I think the chili cheese fries at Tommy's Burgers are better, but they are also a completely different style of chili and fry, so take that for what it is. They have some celebrity photos inside the shop, kind of like what you would find at Pink's hot dogs. They have both an indoor dining area and a patio, but they don't have a public restroom (or at least not one in visible sight) which kinda sucks. The service is good. The people here are nice. They seem to have a lot of interesting shakes too, but I didn't get to try any on this visit. I'll probably stop by again when I'm taking another random stroll through LA, wondering what in the world I should go eat. Myself like many others get off work late and have very few options other than MC Donald's and other places like that. The burger I got was a small but flavorful gift of a burger. It's Called the just for you burger a plan meat cheese bun and sauce burger but let me tell you that thing was good. The bun was soft but had them crispy edges so you get a little crunch in each bite. The patty's were like a smash burger style really peppery and juicy. It went perfect with the gooey cheese. The pastrami chili fries were good but different. The pastrami at this place is cut differently it's a deli style not like the style you get at Johnnys but it was still tasty anyway. The fries were the star of the show crispy but still soft. Perfect amount of salt and came out piping hot. We have been wanting to visit Irv's Burgers for a very long time and was able to make it happen on December 5th around 6:30pm. We got parking which is tight but happy about that. I ordered the Best Burger combo which was really great and tasty burger. They also had Tater Tots which you don't see that often and they were excellent. Our server was Maria G. and she was nice and friendly taking my order. We were able to get a table which inside they have about 4 tables and about 5 tables outside. Okay so I love Irvs burger! Outstanding burger. That's all I gotta say. After doing a little bit of shopping at the Habitat for humanity restore one block down. I figured I need to get me a bomb burger for the ride home. You know, like a reward! Just gotta mention, I have been to like 3 different IRVS BURGERS. They all hit the same. All AMAZING. Truth be told, service can be a little tweaked. Like adding some smiles behind the counter and a little bit of gratitude towards their customers. But welcome to the cash grab industry where companies don't really train or enforce their employees to be kind. I guess this is why robots will take over one day. Less expectancy, and fewer behavior malfunctions. Now back to the food. I recommend one item here although everything else is great but it's that one item that always reigns supreme. It's called "the best burger on the menu". Phenomenal burger. Juicy, creamy, MEATY and HEFTY. Two double 4 ounce patties, slabs of cheese, grilled onions, sesame bun, pickles and some sort of house sauce. It's perfect. I can't express how well made of a burger this is. We had lunch at Irv's on a fluke as a place up the road had an hour wait and that wasn't going to happen for us. So we Yelped nearby places and settled on Irv's and were not disappointed. My son and I were in the mood for a messy smash burger so we decided to take a drive here. You order your food at the window and there are a few tables outside and a few inside to enjoy your meal. We both ordered the Original burger with a single patty and waited only a few minutes before we got our food. No doubt you can get a solid smash burger here! Located on a busy intersection of La Brea and Olympic, you might miss the quaint parking lot as you drive up so make sure to keep your eyes out. The lot is very small so if it gets full you unfortunately have to park in surround neighborhoods but at least both options are free. Came and ordered a Float, Best Burger and a side of Onion Rings. All were very tasty but I would say you can skip the onion rings as they cost $6 and we only got about 6 - not a good value in my opinion. The burger was definitely well priced and cooked to perfection. At first glance I thought it was on the small side and wouldn't be enough food but I was totally wrong.
