I've been here many times and I love the atmosphere. There are always tables and chairs, so it's nice to be able to sit down and have a drink when you are tired from dancing. People are very friendly here and many people know how to dance well. The owners are very friendly and they allow you to bring a birthday cake or your own food. In 12 years of dancing all over the northeast and Florida, this is the one major bad experience I have ever had! The blonde woman and the man at the front desk did not even acknowledge me when I walked in and greeted them. No eye contact, no response, nothing. The blonde woman hit some buttons on the computer to put $20 on the screen and waited for me to insert my card for payment. Other than asking me if I wanted a receipt after, it's like I didn't even exist. The dancers who were there were not friendly at all and seemed very cliquey. They don't say hi, don't introduce themselves, they don't even smile when rotating and being partnered up with you. It's like if they don't know you then you're an outsider and not welcome. During the lesson, I was forcefully yanked and jerked around by most of the leads, who also happened to be very cold and not friendly at all. (The sad part is, they were experienced dancers seeing as they knew how to dance very well except for the fact that they don't seem to care about what they do to their partners). One guy there singled out myself and another young woman (also an experienced dancer) who happens to look very similar to me and very rudely refused to dance with us when we were paired with him during the lesson. He literally backed away with a look of disgust on his face and said, No! And then proceeded to dance with an invisible partner. Each other partner he was paired with during rotation he happily danced with and twirled around like they were friends. I drove 90 minutes and paid $20 for 20 minutes of torture and left with a back injury. Since sharing my experience with about 20+ other people, I have yet to find someone who didn't also have similar experiences every single time they have gone there. Every single follower I have talked to has expressed the same issues with trying to dance there and now avoid it because they don't want to get seriously injured. Don't waste your time going there when there's plenty of other places within an hour of here that are filled with genuinely friendly, welcoming dancers for the same price or even less! read more

I went to Sunday at 4 pm -5 pm free salsa lesson with paid admission $20 per person. Jonathan was the instructor and let participants in the circle, started teaching basic steps like up and down and side by side, how to switch the partners. Sombrero how to spin followers. He spent most time to switch partners which i thought not beneficial at the parties cuz it's typically a pair dances at least one song at the time. Very disappointed. read more

Great place to hold events. BUT the HUGE downside I've experienced with friends and families having their events there is that we pay over $4,000-$5,000 for one night, and they still can't get their dancers to stop dancing for one day! Our event was on a Saturday, and we're not allowed to touch the dance floor because they're still having "dance classes". If we paid so much money for one day, why can't we get the whole day to ourselves to be able to practice in the morning as the event planners decorate? I think it's very unprofessional of them to still have dance class on a Saturday knowing it's already been booked for an event. You charge so much for ONE DAY, and can't seem to leave that day for your clients. smh read more

I went to GoldCoast invited by some friends for latin music that they play every Sunday. Well, they only play salsa & bachata so I decided to approach the DJ, however he didn't even care and said that's what they play. I told him I was expecting merenge & cumbia as well since latin music is not only salsa and bachata. I also spoke with the lady in the front desk but same thing she didn't even care and told me I needed to speak to the owner but was not there. I loved this dance floor! Huge floor, good dancers, and nice mix of music. I've been going on Sunday night because at 5:00 they have Latin music then at 8:00 they switch to Ballroom. For the $13 entry fee you also get a sandwich, chips, and if you make friends with the next table, they'll share their cake too! People are very friendly seem to be celebrating their birthdays there all the time. I also loved being asked to dance so often! Ages range from 20's to 70's and they dance classic salsa. The DJ is Puerto Rican so he puts on a good mix. read more

I have been a dancer for fourteen years and visit Gold Coast each week without fail. There is nothing comparable in the South Florida vicinity. Highly recommended for any style of dancing, ballroom, Latin, swing, or hustle. I would also like to object to the character assassination of a regular dancer there, Danny. My favorite ballroom venue in the western hemisphere. We've (my wife and I) danced all over the NYC metropolitan area, Roseland included, Kismet, Nassau, Suffolk, Boston, Orlando, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Las Vegas, San Francisco, et. al., on cruises and the likes. The only dance venue close is the Silva Dance Academy in Rockville Center, NY, but they can't seat 480 people at tables like Goldcoast can. Goldcoast also has some world class instructors, teachers, and coaches that are regularly there and also lots of guest celebrity dancers. On any given day you could be practicing alongside top notch international dancers coaches, instructors from Russia, Europe, US and all over the world in both standard, American, and latin styles. Great management too. It was one of the major factors for us even retiring to Florida in the fist place and we are never disappointed. read more

I was invited to this party and at most parties we bring tequila. So we brought some and this lady that works here snatched the bottle from our hands and was being so rude about it. Although shes the owner and theres certain rules that have to be followed, we weren't informed and she could've handled it better. read more

As visitors in town we found this ballroom to be Unfriendly. No one welcomed us or introduced themselves, nothing. The facility was attractive. The music was very dated. We are used to people asking us to dance as well as we ask other people, none of that here. Not a very welcoming place. read more

I wanted to address stan's review - I knew before I went that there was an admission charge and that the class was free when you paid the admission. It was pretty clear on all the things that I read, as well as on their site, so it wasn't a surprise to me. I mean, they have to pay the rent and the DJ somehow. I think it was well worth it, as you get to dance for hours after the lesson to great music. The instruction was very good (I've tried Argentine tango & salsa there). The decor is a little out of date, truthfully it reminded me of an 80s wedding reception, complete with twinkle lights - but it was well lit and fun, and the dance floor is beyond big! I hate going to crowded clubs where you can barely move through the press of bodies, and this was not a problem on goldcoast's giant floor. I had a fantastic time and was asked to dance for nearly every dance despite my total ineptitude! I was surprised by the "admission includes a sandwich" thing - I guess they think you're going to need to recharge after all that dancing! read more

Went for Latin night. The music was excellent. The place is very nice and packed. We were celebrating a birthday. We stayed from 5:30 pm till 11pm though we were freezing. The ac was extremely high. Place is HORRIBLE! Owners use 'bait & switch' to advertise complimentary dance classes, but when you arrive they don't admit you unless you pay $13 or more for dance that follows - and they are downright insulting when you show them their advertisement doesn't mention that. There are places with live bands and much more modern decor (this place looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 1940's) that charge less, so it's also a rip-off. read more

This is for people who take dancing more serious than someone just looking for a place to get a free dance lesson and does not have a dancers mind set. If you have taken Ballroom lessons or are an ex-dance instructor like myself, you realize how a ballroom works. Goldcoast is a place where you can dance w others who know how to dance or want to for a hobbie, not just a one night affair.
