I needing to board my pet on short notice in case of being admitted to Hospital. On 05-005-26 I took my dog to Golden Acreas and met owner Anne Kane. I was so impressed with Ann and her boarding facility. Right off the bat I could tell I was at the perfect place. Clean, organized, plenty of room for the dogs including a huge fenced in are , in the country and clean kennels to accommodate all size of pets. So impressed. Ann gave me a tour and didn't rush me, she also listened about what concerns I might have asay a first time client with my rescue dog. As you know our pets are considered family, so I could tell from talking to Ann that she was very knowledgeable about rescue animals which was truly important to me and my pet. Anne and Paul Kane have boarded our dogs twice since 2007 and I won't take them anywhere else. It's a bit of a drive from Chelsea to Tecumseh to drop off dogs when getting ready to head out of town, but if you love your animals, it is so worth it. The facilities are clean, the pricing is reasonable/affordable and with the Kane's experience and background, it gives us peace of mind that our pets are well cared for while we are away. Golden Acres is in my emergency contact list in case something were to happen and our dogs need to go to a safe place. If you have pets, you should have a boarder you can go to as well. I HIGHLY recommend Golden Acres. I think they board and groom more than just dogs, but you have to find out yourself. read more

We called on short notice on Wednesday for the next Saturday-Wednesday and they took us!!! Our two 8 year old bichons have never been boarded before, and one has special food and medication. Our family has had nothing but great experiences with Golden Acres. Anne and her team truly care about your pet and make them feel welcomed and appreciated. I usually try to call for a reservation during posted business hours of 7-9 am and 4-6 pm and the team is very responsive. The website provides very good information about Anne and the facility as well as clear pricing. The facilities are clean and well cared for. The process for drop off and pickup is very well thought out to help facilitate a smooth transition for both owner and pet. We are so happy to have found Golden acres and don't mind the 30 minute drive to know that our pets will be loved as their own. We have had very negative experiences at other kennels where dogs have come home dirty, sick, and very upset. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH GOLDEN ACRES. Our dogs came home from this last week long stay happy, healthy, and smelling fresh. We never once worried about our dogs and knew that Anne and her team were hard at work ensuring they were cared for and comfortable. Don't think twice about bringing your pets here. read more

We don't always board our dog but when we do, we use Golden Acres. (sorry had to do that). I really like these folks. Prices are reasonable and they are always happy to help and work with owners. My dog seems to come home happy and clean and seems to have fun with his play days with the other dogs. We only use them about once a year but they are great to work with! read more

Golden Acres is EXCELLENT! We board our dog for short and long stays throughout the year, and sometimes we need to make a last minute reservation. Anne is always so accommodating and quick to respond. The facilities are extremely clean, the fees are reasonable and we can add on a bath or a nail trimming as needed too. My boys can't get into the kennel building fast enough - that's a great review on it's own! They care so much about the animals that are entrusted to them. The first experience I had at Golden Acres was great! It was my first time boarding our dog and he seemed to be okay with it. I went back for a second time and did not get the same experience. First off, my dog came to the facility wearing his pincer collar (as done the first time) and told staff to take it off because I don't want him wearing it over night as it is only used for walking plus I didn't want it to get stuck on the fencing and him get hurt. The first time, it was off when i picked him up so i knew they listened to me. This was not the case second time around; he wore it the entire stay as staff even said that bringing him out to me! Why would you think this is okay? IT IS NOT! Let's continue...the pricing is not clear unless you read the website and memorize it...a one night stay I get charged for 2 nights? Maybe this should have been discussed when we made the appointment...second I get charged extra for a toenail trim because my dog was "bad?" If he was that stressed out and "bad" you should have stopped the nail trim. Why make a not familiar environment even more stressful on a dog. When i brought this up to the owner, I was told, "the dog never wins, I do!" I have no comments about that... Then we get to the feeding issue. I sent my dog with a bag full of individual servings to save time for staff and to know my dog is fed correctly and being fed. I put labels on the baggies reading "Saturday Night", "Sunday Morning", etc. so there is no confusion. When i pick up my dog, I see that they didn't even feed him a meal. I questioned it right away and I get the answer "ughh..he didn't want to eat so we put it back in the bag." Are you kidding me! My lab does not want to eat!? That was the funniest thing I ever heard. I got home and fed him and he threw it up an hour later probably because it was too much for his empty stomach to handle. I let all these issues go the day i picked up my dog as there were other families there picking up their dogs and I wanted to think and process all these issues. Two days later I emailed the owner with my concerns and get a phone call back...let's just say I will never bring my dog back to this facility as I have never met a owner of a business blame all her issues on her staff, lie to me, make up excuses, and talk to me so terribly. As an owner, you cannot be argumentative or change your story when we are having a conversation. Do not tell me that it is "good" that i am not bringing my dog back because he is "too difficult" or because he "ate your partical board wall." If he really did eat the wall, it is CHEAP to replace as I just paid you $68 for ONE night stay. I am extremely disappointed to even be writing this review as I rarely do this, but my dog is my baby as I am sure the rest of you think the same and wouldn't want the same experience I had. read more

My cat and elderly dog just had their first stay at Golden Acres -- it was a great experience! My dog required additional service (extra attention/trips outside) due to her age, and it was available without difficulty.
