While I have not yet done a full bath/groom at Lucy's, I recently moved to the area and dropped in today for a walk-in nail grinding on my lab/pittie mix, Marnie. The nice groomer (I think Lucy? but I'm terrible with faces and names!) was able to fit her in quickly and did a quick, great-looking nail clip/nail grinding. I was grateful for the jar of cookies right by the door to bribe my pup with, and I was excited to see a "Fear Free Groomer" decal on the bulletin board. I booked a grooming appointment at Lucy's for 2:30 PM. Due to a last-minute work emergency, I called ahead to ask if I could drop my dog off 15 minutes early. I made it clear I was not asking for early grooming--simply for him to sit safely in a holding area or kennel until his scheduled time. Instead of a simple "yes" or "no," I was met with an extraordinarily argumentative response. The owner lectured me on why arriving 15 minutes early was unacceptable, claiming that sitting in a kennel prior to a session would ruin my dog's experience. This made little sense given that my dog is a 10-year-old senior pet who has been groomed peacefully his entire life. She then made a strange comparison to human hair appointments, asking what I would expect if I showed up 15 minutes early for my own haircut. As a human, I would expect to wait quietly in the waiting room until my appointment time--which is all I was asking my dog to do in a kennel. She even went so far as to claim she would have to "babysit" him while he waited in the kennel. When I repeatedly asked what my actual options were, the hostility only continued. Given that she said that first-time check-ins naturally require extra time for intake and paperwork, arriving slightly early should have been a non-issue. I spoke with a friend who is also a veterinarian afterward, who explained that dogs naturally experience a brief spike in physiological stress markers during travel and arrival, and that sitting quietly in a crate for 15 minutes actually gives an experienced senior dog a chance to decompress before being handled. For an establishment that markets itself around a "luxury" experience, I found the customer service was surprisingly rigid, rude, and combative. I took my business to a fantastic local groomer who was kind, accommodating, and happy to help. Customer service matters, and there are far too many great options in the area to tolerate being treated this way. read more

Beware!!!! I have an 8 month old havanese which was groomed by 2 different groomers at petsmart in Ann Arbor at the age of 2 and 4 months. Both groomers said he did great. Wanting someone local I went to Lucy spa. When I arrived to pick him up from his 1st appointment with Lucy spa I was informed he had to be muzzled because he was trying to bite her. "6 month old puppy"!!! Like other comments state on yelp. The manager/owner gives vet advice which is illegal in Michigan without a license. Knowing nothing about my puppy's health the manager/owner stated my "puppy" which is on seizure medication should have been put on trazadone as well for grooming. She said my puppy was horrible and would not let her groom him. My puppy is under the care of Tecumseh Veterinarians Dr Ed, Dr Sarah and Dr Laura. I Immediately called my vets and was recommended a new local groomer "grooming by design". Today Chewy had his 1st at appointment at "grooming by design", he is now 8 months old. Sierra did an amazing job! When I went to pick him up Sierra said the something as the two groomers at petsmart. She said she had absolutely no problems with Chewy and he did great! Thats "3" different groomers that has had no problems with our puppy but manager/owner had to muzzle the baby. **This woman's comments to my review is absolutely lies!!! SHE stated she could not believe my vets did not put my puppy on trazadone for grooming! As other reviews state she thinks she a Veterinarian! No worries "grooming by design" is doing a wonderful job with Chewy. He is now in good hands. read more

Like others have said this lady thinks she's a vet and knows everything about everyone's dog tried to claim my dog tried to bite her when my dog doesn't even bark growl let alone bite someone. They love to throw the word "concerned" around. I'm glad that I left that place and went to a much friendlier one. read more

We have used her for our 10 pound dog Macho for a few years now. He is afraid of everything, but he loves her. I accidentally showed up late once and she had him in her lap calming him. That is when we were a customer for life. read more

If you have a dog with a complex coat or an older dog, I wouldn't go here. They have no patience or compassion. After being a loyal customer of more than 2 years, I was called to come pick up my dog because her coat was too matted and she was biting at her, both situations that a professional should be able to handle. She complained that my dog should come more often, even though she was the one that scheduled my dog for 8 weeks at her last appointment. Then she said my dog wasn't able to stand up or walk right, which was not true. She had been standing and walking fine all day. She said she saw her limping when we came in, but my dog is almost 16 and has short legs, so I'm not sure what she expects. My dog also has never bitten anyone. Obviously, this place only wants to deal with younger dogs with short hair. Now I'm stuck finding another groomer for an older dog. read more

Although skilled, I was scolded multiple times about the condition of my pets coat. I did the best I could to care for my sweet boy's challenging coat of hair. I have him groomed by a professional every 8 weeks for a reason. We were dropped as clients. I will find a place that offers compassionate care. read more

I'll be honest, on the morning of my fur babies appointment, I was reading these reviews and becoming so worried. But I had to at least try, as my babies were definitely in need of a professional grooming. One of my babies' coats drastically changed after being neutered. It became a lot thicker and tangled. It became harder to manage. I have a Wooly Siberian Husky, so he is double coated, and I knew he may not behave well as we had a bad experience with his previous groomer. Although Lucy had a very hard time grooming him, she still did, we have a long way to go on his mental health and recovery from what had happened to him previously. But she was extremely helpful and gave me tons of advice and tips on how to help him at home and how to help his coat from getting so compacted. He is looking great, and it's a step in the right direction. She also groomed our puppy for his first groom, and he looked so handsome. She was very straightforward with us and voiced all concerns. The groomer thinks she's a veterinarian. At every visit she said something else was wrong with my dog and needed to be seen by a vet. I did go to the vet for what she said was wrong, my vet said my dog was fine yet Lucy thinks my dog still has issues. I think Lucy has issues. Beware she isn't there to groom your pet. read more
