It was actually something my husband had come across while planning our visit, and we're so glad we made the stop. It was a hot afternoon, so pairing the cheese tasting with a cold beer and a hard apple cider felt like the perfect choice. You purchase your tasting tickets at the counter along with your drinks and then head to one of their tasting areas. We sampled 12 different cheeses while our hostess walked us through each one, explaining how it was made and the best ways to enjoy it. Every cheese was delicious, but our favorite was the Red Rider, which had just the right amount of heat. One thing we really enjoyed was that you can buy your favorite cheeses along with crackers and condiments, and they'll provide a cheese board and knife so you can put together your own lunch. We picked red rider cheese block, ordered another round of drinks, and spent an hour enjoying our own little cheese board. The property is beautiful, with plenty of Adirondack chairs overlooking a large open lawn. It was simply too hot for us to sit outside, so we stayed indoors, but I can imagine how lovely it would be on a cooler day. I also discovered a mustard-based condiment during the tasting that I loved so much I ended up buying five jars to take home as gifts for family and friends. If you're visiting the Finger Lakes, Muranda Cheese Company is absolutely worth the stop. Between the guided tasting, the beautiful setting, and the opportunity to build your own cheese board, it makes for a fun and memorable experience.

I was dying to visit, because they offer cheese tastings, so I'll start my review by describing that experience! You walk up to the bar, tell them you want to do a cheese tasting, and they had you a ticket. Then you can walk to one of their two tasting areas (you'll see long tables with staff on one side and customers on the other, with lots of cloches with cheese under them) and get started on your tasting. You get to try 12 cheeses, and they give you a little tasting sheeting so you can rate and take notes on the cheeses. It only takes a few minutes, but it was fun and a great way to learn about their cheeses. If you're not into a cheese tasting or if you want more than just the tasting, they offer charcuterie boards, Finger Lakes wine, wine slushies, beers, cider, and non-alcoholic drinks. You can also buy a block of cheese and eat that, too! I did the cheese tasting (fun - and I liked most of the cheeses), and we shared a wine slushie as well. We arrived pretty close their closing time, but I was glad we had time to experience what Muranda has to offer! They have a shop in the back, where they sell their cheeses, wines, pottery, and other Finger Lakes products. There's also an amazing patio off the shop, with gorgeous views, rocking chairs, and tables. They host live music at this really cool stage above the bar. So you can eat cheese, have a drink, and listen to some live music in a beautiful barn? Sold. It's a fun time. And I recommend it between wine tastings or other activities you get up to in the Finger Lakes!

Such a fun experience!…read more So many fun flavors of icecream and different cheeses! Not to mention the adorable cows!! We tried the flight of 8-- 5 icecreams and 3 cheeses. For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. My favorite was the coffee flavor- unlike other coffee icecreams I've had, this coffee had a much more robust and richer flavor profile. I liked cookies and cram-- always a classic. The cherry flavor was a tad too artificial for my liking. Purple cow was fine- very similar to the Cornell Dairy flavor- both are good though! I liked the peach cobbler flavor though wish there were more of the mix-ins. For cheeses, we tasted the butter garlic cheddar curds, the signature Summit Cheddar, and the plain quark. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! Overall, I had so much fun picking out so many icecreams and cheeses to taste as well as seeing the cows! I would highly recommend Shtayburne Farm!

A fourth generation dairy farm that excels in cheese and ice cream. We tried the 8 flight. 4 cheeses 4 ice creams. All were delicious. I tried the peach habernero Quark and immediately needed to buy one in the case. Its a super protein and so creamy. I can't wait to pair it with celery sticks for a nice snack. They offer a few coffee drinks as well. I ordered a caramel Americano. Next time I am in the area I will definitely come by again!

I was like that's kinda odd, strawberry and chocolate milk in a stand alone fridge? I ended up buying the strawberry milk and Holy Moses, this was the easily the best strawberry milk I ever had. I also noticed it was pretty expensive, it was a small container for around $4.50 but I bought it anyway and wow was it worth a buy. It was so good, it was so good it actually made me make my way to their actual farm and take god their milk was cheaper at the farm. I also asked since I noticed the employees were wearing very distinct clothing if they were Amish? The employee said it was similar but they were Mennonites. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=FJpVePPXalf0iGdM0UXSng The food: Strawberry Milk- This is a must get item. It was $5.75 for a half gallon. I loved the strawberry flavor of the milk and I love the creamy texture of the milk. Chocolate Milk- I think this was a great chocolate milk but not as distinctive as the strawberry milk. Strawberry Ice Cream- This very similar to the strawberry milk, but not as rich a creamy as the milk. I enjoyed this but the milk is my favorite item.

It's about an hour drive from Rochester. There is a gravel parking lot, and you enter through the store (where you can buy cheese and other fun snacks). There is a stairwell or an elevator to get up to the second floor where the wedding was held. Props to whoever designed this place for adding multiple restrooms, which were decorated with cute cow decor and stocked with mouthwash, feminine hygiene products, mints, etc. The food was excellent. Cocktail hour included a spread of fruit, crackers, and many delicious cheeses that were more exciting than the normal cheddar cubes on an appetizer tray. For dinner, salad, pizza, and cauliflower wings were served with lots of sauces and toppings. Dessert was a make your own ice cream sundae bar. Old Souls Catering was responsible for all of the deliciousness. There were two levels of the reception space, and the ceremony and dinner were held in the higher area. The lower area was the bar/cocktail area and dance floor. It was a bit awkward going up and down the stairs every time a new part of the event took place (I have a sprained ankle). There is a wheelchair lift to move between the sections but I wasn't going to get a staff member to do that for me ten times with everyone watching. Overall, this was a unique venue and even had a cheese vending machine outside.
