Wellsville has a few gems for southern tier food and this place is often hyped for being a must try…read morein this area. I would agree- it definitely lived up to its name. This is a roast beef place. Flip to the back page and you want to try their roast beef entrees. The meat melts in your mouth. I recommend pairing this with their red skinned mash potatoes. I recommend a medium or medium rare to really appreciate the quality of this roast. We also ordered their fish tacos to change variety. get the Haddock for better moisture- mahi was the other option but I find mahi to be sometimes too fishy and dry unless paired with a more "Caribbean" vibe. Haddock holds a fish fry better in the taco. Unfortunately their slaw was not my fav. too sweet. It was like someone added an extra scoop of honey/sugar. I am definitely trying a roast beef sandwich or their ribs next time. Atmosphere was also great. Had that old school old pub feel but the exterior looked modern. Staff were friendly enough- our waitress was on their brisker end but nothing to where it affected our experience. Pricing was also reasonable for the quality of food. it won't break your wallet but probably couldn't eat there daily.

Writing this as a warning for anyone thinking about eating here or working here, because my close…read morefriend just went through absolute hell working her shifts at this place. She recently quit after seeing firsthand what goes on behind the scenes, and the health and labor violations are genuinely repulsive. The pre-wash sink water is kept cold, making it impossible to get grease off dishes, and food is left sitting out on dishes overnight so they're nearly impossible to wash properly. Metal cookware is left with thick, brownish layers of old, baked-on buildup because things are rarely actually cleaned, and she had to scrub her ass off just to get some of those stains out. Instead of proper tools, they use old, banned compressed stainless steel sponges that shed micro-metals. The sinks don't even have plugs, so staff have to use dirty rags, which have a chemical film on them from being washed with just bleach and no soap in the laundry machine, to dry off dishes when needed. Up in the kitchen, the fly traps are completely overwhelmed and filling up fast, and the bug problem is bad enough that even the owner's mom got bitten in the dishwashing room so badly her arm swelled up. Down in the basement, the flooring is falling apart with dangerous gaps and fall hazards everywhere, right alongside an unlabelled chemical and oil barrel. The treatment of workers is just as bad. Cleaners are given open-ended schedules, and management tried to force her to stay until 6:00 PM for a 30-top party even though she had strict family obligations and told them she had to leave by 12:30 or 1:00 PM. She was repeatedly told by multiple people that she wasn't allowed to take her state-mandated 15-minute or 30-minute breaks. On top of that, the bathrooms are only mopped once a week, and everyone warned her that the owner routinely takes his anger out on employees even when they haven't done anything wrong. Do yourself a favor and skip eating here. Nobody should be supporting a business that treats both its food safety and its workers this recklessly. BTW there's more issues but she's afraid of me coming out with them all. Many people from around here have noticed the decline of this place since the new owner took over, and honestly it's a shame. This place used to be so nice.

A different waitress came with the menu and took our drink orders; reasonably friendly. A group of farmer looking folks walked in (classic overalls, fishing caps etc) and looked at us like we just stole their spot or something- guy even pointed at us when talking to the person behind the counter then the waitress returns to take our orders and I asked her why they were looking at us that way and she said she really didn't know but they stopped after we ordered *shrug* My son said his burger was exceptionally delicious and my Philly Steak sandwich was very good, French fries were exceptional for a diner. Clean and reasonably comfortable; they only had a single bathroom so I guess you can call it gender neutral. Place is retro; modern by mid-twentyish century standards. Service was very good overall, She served out food promptly / hot and out glasses were never empty I didn't have enough cash but they accepted a (good) check. (No credit/debit card service or ATM)
