A fourth generation dairy farm that excels in cheese and ice cream. We tried the 8 flight. 4 cheeses 4 ice creams. All were delicious. I tried the peach habernero Quark and immediately needed to buy one in the case. Its a super protein and so creamy. I can't wait to pair it with celery sticks for a nice snack. They offer a few coffee drinks as well. I ordered a caramel Americano. Next time I am in the area I will definitely come by again!

Such a fun experience!…read more So many fun flavors of icecream and different cheeses! Not to mention the adorable cows!! We tried the flight of 8-- 5 icecreams and 3 cheeses. For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. My favorite was the coffee flavor- unlike other coffee icecreams I've had, this coffee had a much more robust and richer flavor profile. I liked cookies and cram-- always a classic. The cherry flavor was a tad too artificial for my liking. Purple cow was fine- very similar to the Cornell Dairy flavor- both are good though! I liked the peach cobbler flavor though wish there were more of the mix-ins. For cheeses, we tasted the butter garlic cheddar curds, the signature Summit Cheddar, and the plain quark. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! Overall, I had so much fun picking out so many icecreams and cheeses to taste as well as seeing the cows! I would highly recommend Shtayburne Farm!

Along with amazing ice cream sandwiches and tasty local root beer. Go visit, for $15 it's totally worth it! Just a friendly reminder that this is a farm, long sleeves and pants are probably best (not at all what I had on) and as long as you're willing to get down there and dirty with the cows in the hay, you'll have a great time.

I'm…read morenot sure if that's accurate, but they are part of my experience with the market, and I love them all. Giordano is one of the best of the bunch, as they have all the cheese you'd ever want...and I want a lot of cheese. I want the funky bleu, the creamy brie, the sharpest cheddar you can find, the chevre, whatever you can find from a sheep, certainly including manchego, and all the olives they have in stock too. I want the cheeses with fun additions like truffles and pepper and meat and I also want the meat that hasn't been added to the cheese, because meat is good on its own too. All that said, the last time I came in I felt like I was bothering the staff there. I got curt, annoyed answers when I was curious about a cheese I wasn't familiar with, and we ended up leaving with about 25% of the amount of cheese I wanted to buy just because it's not fun to put together a cheese plate with people who aren't trying to help you. I hope it was an off day, because I'll be back again soon. After all, I have a cheese problem.

Though it was almost empty on a Thursday morning it was difficult to get to the cheese display because the only two patrons were pretty much sitting in the aisle gabbing with one of the workers. We had to squeeze around them since they weren't moving. Once at the cheese counter the smallish selection of cheeses were unmarked so we needed to quiz the burly guy manning the counter. He was gruff and almost rude in his attitude. Almost unhelpful. It is lucky we bought anything at all. If you wanted your purchase wrapped in cheese paper vs. plastic they charged another $1.75. Really? Definitely not the positive experiences we remembered from the past. Very Disappointing!

Hollenbeck's is my go to for cider and donuts in the fall…read more The line is almost always out the door in the fall so be prepared to wait. While you wait you can select a peck or bushel of apples, or maybe send a scout out to the baked goods and fudges, or watch the old cider press in action. When you reach the donuts you can pick from powered sugar, cinnamon powdered sugar, or plain. Personally I think plain is the best because they are hot, crispy, pillowy delights. There is a limit in that you can only buy 4 dozen donuts per person. The cider itself fresh pressed right before your eyes. Two people work together to layer the mash and wood pallets on a very old and incredible press. The cider is well filter and not as sweet as other ciders but very good! One note: you cannot buy cups of the cider- you have to buy a half gallon or gallon and then open it outside. On the pie side you can actively see and smell the pies being made. If you would like a pie for a special occasion you might want to call ahead to reserve one as they sell FAST. In the cold cases on the pie side is also where the cheese curds, summer sausage, and some meets such as elk and lamb are available. The great thing is the baked goods are available all year, so Hollenbeck's is a great stop even in the spring and summer. Also of note it smells like pressed apples ALL YEAR! Parking- one entrance, one exit. There is parking in the front and back, and some street parking as well.
