We've driven by here several times and each time have commented that we needed to check it out. We finally did just that today. It was so lovely! They had live music and a food truck. Apparently, this is a regular thing. The property is so pretty. There is a covered event space perfect for a wedding or a party. There were heaters out today but for warmer weather there are huge fans. There were several fire pits available and they'll get one going for you if you like. Amazing local place in Chelsea located right off 280 and Chesser. They make their own wine and locally source their beer. Parking is across the street and on the same side of the winery. The winery is much more than just wine; it's a wedding venue, hosts multiple events like cookie and ornament decorating with free drinks included, has food trucks, and usually hosts someone local to support their business. This weekend was the Oktoberfest with pretzels and beer cheese, one local food truck, and local permanent jewelry maker. They had stein holding and keg throwing contests! All the workers were dressed in their best German attire. Music and decor were on point. You can pet their horses as the winery is also where the owners live. 2 restrooms located inside along with 2 inside bars and 1 outside bar. The seating area is covered with fans. There is a cornhole area and multiple different uncovered seating areas for you and your family to hang out. $0 admission. Great way to celebrate the start of fall. read more

Yelp! My Goddaughter's mother got married this Saturday at Cat N Bird. What a beautifully rustic event venue! Everything about you is inviting. People are everywhere laughing and fellowshipping. The blue and peach colors are everywhere but not over zealous. Hats off to the decorators. Nice people are passing thru offering drinks as we wait to move to the ceremony area. You have so much indoor space, but every thing screams outside, please. From the wedding scene planted with the train backdrop, to the swing set in the middle of the open barn that's designated with reception flare. I love it. Farm animals can be seen wondering around the property. But, You can tell they are accustomed to having guest. Wedding was gorgeous. Food from Bright Star was good too. Great ambiance- in fact, a wedding was about to take place on the lovely patio area after some live music concluded. Honestly, not the best wine we've had over all, but a nice variety in the tasting. Thoughtfully chosen cheese pairings. Wine tasting is something we try to do wherever we travel, though, and we also belong to a small handful of clubs, so maybe we are a bit picky. They were very busy but the staff was efficient and seemed happy to be there. Emily was awesome! The tasting consisted of 3 white and 3 red wine selections. I love wine and enjoyed them all. We used a Groupon on a Saturday afternoon for a red and white wine flight. The winery is in the bottom floor of a beautiful farm house. We sat outside where they had fans and lovely music. I also enjoyed watching the horses in the yard nearby. The patio was covered so not too hot. The staff was VERY friendly. There had been a baby shower so they brought my boyfriend and I out some of the left over food including a pesto pasta and lemon cake. They also were busy when we first got there and weren't able to start our sampling right away, so they sent our complimentary glasses of wine for us to enjoy while we waited (which was really only like 5 minutes) The wine itself was also great. I will say I am not a wine connoisseur but I really did enjoy them all. I loved all the wine pairings as well. We did buy a bottle of red, and look forward to trying it again at home! read more

Attended a rehearsal dinner here. It was a very nice venue, plenty of room for the gathering.

Ran across this place by accident and came to check it out the following day. Although they are only open on Saturdays, the place is a gem! The owner was there when we arrived along with a sweet woman named Karen who was conducting the flight tastings. After chatting with the owner a bit, I discovered that you can bring in your own food, and grub hub delivers. They will show football games in the fall but still plan to close at 6. They are a house divided so both games will be shown. The wine was great! Not muscadine wine and there is an abundance of information about where they import from on a scrolling screen in the tasting room. It has a rustic vibe that is great for porch sitting as well as more intimate events. Run, don't walk to this venue! read more

I've heard a lot of buzz about Cat-n-Bird Winery, and I drove past it one day with my kiddos and stopped in to check it out. Right off the bat, he kids were excited to find they offered (nonalcoholic) slushies! The sweet bartender got them settled with those and something to draw on, while I did my tasting. You get to try 6 wines for $10, and there are a lot to choose from! They don't grow any of their own fruit, it is all purchased elsewhere then the wine is made on site. My favorites were the Grenache, Chardonnay, and the Cabernet. The winery itself is located in the basement area of the owners home and parking is kind of odd, which is one of the reasons I gave it only 4 stars. The owner told me that they have recently purchased another property close by and will be moving the winery to that location soon, so that shouldn't be an issue for much longer! The other reason was that the wines are kind of expensive- $15 for whites and $25 for reds, which is more than I'm used to paying for loca Last night me and some friends went back for Ladies Night and had a blast! When I checked in on Yelp for my second time, I became the Duchess of Cat-N-Bird Winery, a fact that seemed to tickle the owners! They gave me a "crown," of cat ears with a little bird perched on them, and then took a picture. On ladies night they have vendors come in and sell things like boutique jewelry and clothing. They also provide light snacks and have cheese plates for purchase. Men are welcome but there were only a couple there. They have several other events scheduled like a Murder Mystery Dinner, Wine'd Down Yoga, and live music! They are also available to host weddings and parties. The atmosphere is tasteful and fun. We visited Cat n Bird Winery as a group for our annual Christmas wine tasting tour. Matt the owner is super nice and a great host/pourer - so much fun! This winery was the first stop on our wine trail/tour. They have a variety of dry wines to taste and the Moscato is really good! Our group purchased a couple of bottles and left satisfied and happy. This was my first visit to the winery but for sure won't be my last. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. The view is of trees and a barnyard, very beautiful in fall with the outdoor seating. Indoor is plenty of seating at the bar, and tables in the back. And plenty of t.v.s; you won't miss your favorite game at all. We used a Groupon for the wine tasting and I was a guest of a birthday party...great idea. I am not sure how much it costs. The host of the party brought more food after our wine taste. So bring some treats. The cheese and crackers are good with the wine, and they have a chart so you can pair the right cheese with the wine. The guy needed some help with his guest because he was alone. He probably wasn't expecting the large group but he was very knowledgeable and gave me some etiquette tips on sipping and tasting. This would be good for a first date, girls afternoon, couples date, get together place. Wear comfy shoes because the parking lot is rocky and very small. I took a Saturday afternoon drive to Chelsea, Al to one of the wineries in our area. I'd seen then several months ago and this place was on my "to try" short list! I love experiencing local wineries and meeting new people along the way. My GPS took me right to it, I was greeted by a cute sign pointing me down a gravel drive- the shop is located on the back side of Matt & Robin's home. Winery signs a are posted so you can easily find what entrance to go in. As I walked the pretty path to the shop I noticed they kept the woodsy charm in the landscape. It is so inviting and charming! Before entering the shop, you'll see the large porch with tables looking out to the view of the back. You can see the stables with their horses even :)) Several smaller tables are in the grassy area and the have lots of fun lighting inside and out! As soon as you come in the front entrance, a beautiful wooden bar with cute signs behind it showing the prices and novelties you can purchase. Wooden mini signs are placed on the wall that has the name of each wine they serve. Lots of fun sayings on the walls, cutest wood burning red stove sits between two comfy chairs across from the bar. Then the have a large room in back for seat as well! The place was full of people. Most everyone was with 1-2 others laughing, chatting and tasting the wines. I actually went alone but the atmosphere is so friendly it only took a few minutes and i became part of their groups too! LOL I really wish you could have experienced how "at home" and welcomed they made us feel! Today the had 7 different wines to choose from. I started with the sweeter one- a moscato. Im usually not big on sweet wines but this one was a little sweet and refreshing! Honestly there was none I didn't enjoy. Each had its own unique essence and very delicious! Today Robin had prepared a neat pairing of the wines to different cheeses. Is fun to see how the flavors compliment each other! I usually don't like a chardonnay because the flavor has too much tannin for my taste but theirs is really delightful! It has some oak flavor but not harsh at all! They spent a lot of time telling us about their products, fruits used and their process. You can tell its a passion for them! This is an adorable little winery on this couple's property. Matt and Robyn have a neat back story and they want to share it and their wine with everybody. Just $5 for a tasting of 4 wines plus cheese and a tour, but they threw in a couple extras for us, including a taste of a red still aging in the barrel. My friend and I both purchased a bottle of wine and hung around for a while. We were introduced to their kids and pets and they had a genuine interest in us and our stories. This is not the kind of place where you just go to taste some wine and leave. This is the kind of place where you go to experience the wine and the people. They import their grapes so they have the advantage, unlike other wineries in the south that grow their own grapes, to make any kind of wine they want, so you won't find muscadine wines here. They only have whites right now, but they have some reds aging they expect to be ready in a couple months. If you have the opportunity to visit - do it! This place is incredible and I will definitely stop by again next time I'm in town and I look forward to seeing how they've grown then! read more

First winery I have ever been to that charged you a fee for tasting their wines. And I have been to Napa valley and Europe- never a charge. The wine is very good quality and the atmosphere local causal. Not enough help so the service was fragmented.
