The server offered good recommendations and brought samples to make I didn't end up with something I didn't really want. I appreciated that. It was really nice.

What a great place for wine flights! We were just driving through from Louisville and the whiskey distilleries. We were ready for wine! This place is a gem. We had two different flights for each of us and the Trifecta charcuterie board. And also warmed olives with seeds. The staff was so friendly.

I have visited Golden Age several times! Just be prepared thar this is a bit more expensive due to the hugh quality of product. They do offer bits to nimble on. I enjoy the bread and butter with a glass of orange wine. If you are looking for a unique bottle of wine, the employees are very knowledgeable. You will find bottles here that you aren't able to find anywhere else!

What a modern chic intimate setting. Gives a relax and sip vibe while you enjoy the music and the beautiful wine walls. The staff is beyond friendly and attentive, always with a smile. Y'all there are some of those French wines I just can't pronounce ( don't judge me ) but the way the staff was so kind with letting me know what I was ordering, I was able to learn the name of a couple and feel comfortable with ordering others without just pointing and saying this one. They have an array of wines to choose from and your welcome to choose from the walls which to take home or re-cork and sip.We were able to sample many with the wine flight option and we choose the cheese board which was delicious. Trust me I'll be back the vibes to cool not to.

Citrus Italian soda, non alcoholic. Light crisp and delicious for the non wine drinker in your group.

Modern upscale but relaxed atmosphere tucked in a strip mall setting. Service was great. Staff was very knowledgeable. They made great recommendations based on just a few questions. The burrata with olive oil and crostini toast was a star. Creamy heaven on perfectly toasted bread. The 3 cheeses on the board were well balanced. Not pictured is the bread and olive oil dish. This was our least favorite dish. The olive oil was good quality but the bread was lackluster for us. If it were toasted it may have been better but for a plain piece of bread it just didn't add to the dish. Sort of like wheat bread from subway. We had two white wines based on their recommendations that were lovely. We even got a bottle of each to take home.

absolutely loved this place! its one of my favorite wine bars here in Birmingham, and i highly recommend to anyone looking for a chill, vibey atmosphere to sit back and enjoy some delicious wine and small bites. our server was wonderful and so knowledgeable on all things wine and cheeses. this would be the perfect place for a first date, drinks with friends, or even just by yourself.

This was my first visit to Golden Age Wine but it won't be my last. They have an amazing selection of wines to purchase and take home or you can enjoy the bottle there for a corking fee. They have some nice foods to nibble on such as charcuterie boards, bread and olive oil, warmed olives, etc. They also serve wine by the glass and have a nice selection to chose from. I had a glass of Shiraz, which was delicious. I cannot recall the brand. I enjoyed the bread and olive oil as well as some warmed olives. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would see this as a great place for a happy hour gathering, or a simple pause for a glass of wine.

I don't like wine, but I'm always down to go to new places. I came to this place last week with friends. Due to Covid, they are currently only allowing outside seating which was fine cause the weather was nice and the outside was very pretty. I looked at the menu but nothing piqued my interest. The waiters made suggestions like rose but I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it, so I got their kombucha. They had a harvest roots kombucha which the waitress gave me in a wine glass so you couldn't even tell it wasn't wine. I didn't love the taste of the kombucha since I've had others that were tastier, but loved that I had a non-wine option! Customer service was amazing. Every single waiter and waitress was extremely friendly and patient. I plan to try their charcuterie boards if I come back.

I am really impressed with this place. Located in the heart of Mountain Brook. The owners are friendly and very knowledgeable. They have quite the selection to purchase and plenty of options to order by the glass. Not to mention various small bites. This is the perfect place for a girls night or date night. I will definitely make this one of my go to wine bars.

My daughters and I were able to try this wonderful wine bar last week when they were both home. The atmosphere was great and they have a really nice selection of wine (especially from Burgundy) which was nice to find. Had a cheese and charcuterie board which was also top notch. Actually tried an "orange" wine for the first time and really enjoyed the entire experience.

We stopped by Golden Age Wine for drinks after dinner this past Friday night when we were visiting Birmingham for the weekend. It's a neighborhood wine shop with a LARGE selection of wines for sale as well as many wines by the glass or in flights AND some food options. Golden Age Wine specializes in natural wines ("natural wine" isn't always defined the same way, but Golden Age Wine's website says that they are "committed to offering wines grown sustainably with little to no intervention in the winemaking process...."), which I've gotten very interested in lately! We started with a flight (3 wines of your choice from their menu). The wines we selected were different (2 reds, 1 orange/skin-contact) and interesting. We then got another glass of wine. We didn't eat on this occasion as we'd just eaten a full dinner including dessert, but the food we saw (cheese plate/olive oil cake) looked delicious! We also didn't shop on this occasion, but I was shocked by the shop's size - it's really large and had so many more wines for sale than I was expecting! It's also gorgeous inside - it would be at home in Nashville or Los Angeles or New York. Very modern, chic, cool. We really enjoyed our experience, and I'd be back frequently if we lived in Birmingham! Nashville doesn't have a wine shop/bar like this, and I'm jealous!

My friend introduced me to this place and I love it now! This is such a great after work chill spot. The 50/50 board is so good. They'll let you try any wine and the staff is so nice. I tried orange wine for the first time here and loved it! This will definitely be a once a week spot for me.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by shelves of wines, charcuterie boards, and gourmet accompaniments, making it a fun place to browse before your meal. Unfortunately, my first impression of the service wasn't the strongest. When I approached the host stand, I was greeted with, "What do you want?" While it may have been an off moment or simply a poor choice of words, it didn't feel particularly welcoming. Since I was standing at the host stand in the dining area, I assumed it would be clear that I was there to eat. I was also initially directed toward the bar, despite it being nearly full and located in a busy area where staff were constantly moving through. Since I was dining solo and wanted a more relaxed experience, I asked about patio seating instead, and thankfully that was available. Once seated, my experience improved considerably. My server struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving me space to enjoy my meal. Since it was my first visit, I had several questions about the menu, and he was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely happy to offer recommendations. I decided to order one of the daily specials along with a build-your-own charcuterie board and a Kir Royale to drink. The Heirloom Tomato Salad was an excellent choice. It was fresh, vibrant, and had a flavor profile that set it apart from the many tomato salads I've had before. It's the kind of seasonal special I'd happily order again. For my charcuterie board, I selected Soppressata, Prosciutto, and Gin & Juice for the meats, along with Campo de Montalbán and Midnight Moon cheeses. Everything paired beautifully with the accompanying bread, nuts, and garnishes. Each bite felt thoughtfully curated, and it made for a leisurely meal that encouraged slowing down and savoring each combination. The Kir Royale was equally enjoyable--light, bubbly, and refreshing. It complemented the charcuterie perfectly and is an easy recommendation if you're looking for a celebratory cocktail. One of my favorite parts of the visit was the patio. It was the perfect place to enjoy Birmingham's beautiful weather while people-watching and taking in the neighborhood. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it easy to linger over the meal. Before leaving, I had one more interaction with the hostess that left me a bit puzzled. Since I was dining alone, I took my belongings with me when I went to the restroom after letting my server know where I was headed and asking him to bring my check. As I walked back, the hostess commented, "I thought you had gone." While she may not have intended anything by it, the remark came across as though she assumed I had left without paying, which made for another awkward interaction. I settled my bill at the front counter without issue, but it reinforced my initial impression of the hospitality at the host stand. Overall, I'd rate Red or White an **8/10**. The food, drinks, patio, and service from my server made for a very enjoyable experience, and I would absolutely return for another charcuterie board and cocktail. The only thing holding this visit back from earning a higher rating was my experience with the hostess. Hospitality begins the moment a guest walks through the door, and small interactions can have a lasting impact. Even so, the quality of the food and atmosphere makes this a spot I'd happily visit again.

The event was advertised online with pre purchased tickets to start at 3. We showed up at 3 and were told that it actually started at 4. No problem, we had a drink inside and enjoyed the vibe. When we tried to cash out, it was a little difficult. There were extra people helping but they ignored me and my friend and walked away after clearing the men at the bar. When the bartender cashed us out, she charged us for the event that we'd purchase tickets for online and that was an ordeal trying to get a credit. As of the morning after, my bank account has a charge and no credit. All in all, I have 4 transactions (all charges) from them when there should be 2. We were able to make a reservation for inside dining which I liked because it was a hot June Alabama day, but I would have preferred outside because it was so loud inside, there was no sound suppression, and the tables were very close together. The outside patio was nice and covered. Next time I will request to sit outside. We started with the sourdough bread which I highly recommend! There was enough pieces to have one while you waited for your dinner, and to save one to eat with your dinner. My husband ordered the deviled eggs and really enjoyed them. For our entree, we shared the roasted chicken. It was a half chicken with lemon, garlic, shallots and potato gratin. It was plenty for both of us. We even had leftovers. This is probably because of the appetizers and we had stopped for drinks at Cayo Coco before dinner. We usually skip dessert, but my husband really wanted to try the chocolate custard, bittersweet chocolate custard with chantilly cream. The presentation was beautiful. I had a couple of bites and it also tasted amazing. Our waiter recommended a dessert wine that paired with the custard. He let us try a couple of sips, and the sweet fruitiness really made a difference. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back.
