Volunteered for 4 years till Dec 23 new director new ideas, a very uncomfortable place. Feel very…read moresorry for the animals as many people do not want to walk into the building. Have heard this many times and tried to talk to the director, but was told have them call her! She could care less when I told her I was not volunteering any more at the first of the year. Her attitude was who cares. She was at the city begging for money, but the volunteers who cares, I was not the only one to go. We were many, but not her idea, so I wish Good luck to the animals.

For more than 20 years now I have been giving generously to the Sedona Humane Society thrift store…read more-- including furniture and items that would bring a decent contribution. Unfortunately, I have stopped doing this following my recent visit to the shelter. My 15-yr old Australian Cattle Dog mix had recently passed away and I was interested in adopting another adult dog. I was told that I had to be interviewed by their "dog adoption specialist" before being allowed to meet this dog. This was the most condescending and humiliating interview I could have imagined. After just 10 minutes of the interview, I walked out without meeting any of the available dogs. I then visited the Verde Valley Humane Society - totally the opposite experience. I was greeted by a very pleasant and helpful man that took his time to introduce me to a few of the dogs that were available. Everyone working there were friendly and helpful. This experience was absolutely night and day from the experience I had just had at the Sedona Humane Society. It is understandable why so many of the dogs at Sedona Humane have been there for so long without being adopted.

One is too many stars. We took our dog for stitches…read more We got a proposal for $3600. WHAT??? He needs bloodwork, X-rays, pathology, general anesthesia, radiology, it could have penetrated the chest wall, 4 hour hospital stay and too many other things to mention. We had to pay $219 after they did nothing except look at our dog. All that took an hour and half. This after driving over an hour. Once they gave our dog back to us, we drove 2 hours to Yavapai Animal Emergency in Prescott Valley. They examined him in about 10 minutes. Thoroughly explained what they would do. Give him a shot, clean and staple up cut and send him home. They were done 20 minutes later and we were on our way home. The cost was $680. When I told this awful place in Flagstaff that they should be ashamed of themselves, they told me "we offer the gold standard of care". What a joke. I WAS ALMOST PHYSICALLY ILL. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED FURRY FRIEND TO THIS PLACE. Two hours of driving to and from this place. $219 for absolutely NOTHING. Just for them to give us our dog back. They should return our money. And by the way, the Dr that came into the room for 1-2 minutes reeked of perfume so bad. If he had been in the room any longer, I would have had to get out my inhaler to breathe. Yuck.

I was going to give four stars since there were a couple of glitches, but the staff at BIYD made up…read morefor them by being helpful, courteous, and friendly to my son's dog (we're dog-sitting) and me. The first time I went was at 5:30, thinking I had until 7 pm to get the DIY wash done. I was told the store closed at 7 pm, BUT the DIY dog wash closed at 6 pm, so I only had half an hour. I knew that wasn't going to be enough time, so we left and came back the next day, much earlier. The staff was empathetic and very nice both times. The wash went well, and the staff was super-helpful, equipped with towels, a choice of shampoo (or bring your own if you like), and clearly articulated instructions. The water was hot to the touch. I was told a new water heater was to blame, but if I waited a minute or two, the water would cool off and become warm, which it did. My pup was not pleased at all with the "blow-dry" setup. It is a loud shop vac with hoses extending through the drying bays. We politely aborted that part of the process. It was actually okay, since we had enough towels to get her 90% dry. I was happy with the outcome.

Bark If You're Dirty has always been my go-to spot for my pup for grooming, nail trims, treats,…read moreaccessories, and food. I genuinely love this place the self wash option and the team there. I recently ran into a situation where my dog just wasn't into her food anymore. She's been eating the same premium black bag brand since she was about 9 months old (she's 3 now), so I'm guessing she just got bored of it. I decided to switch flavors within the same brand, but unfortunately, she just doesn't like it. This time, I'm really glad I trusted my gut and bought the smaller 12 lb bag instead of the big one because sure enough, she didn't eat it. When I went back, Katie was incredibly helpful with getting me set up for an exchange. I wasn't looking for a refund, just something my dog would actually enjoy eating, and she made the process smooth and stress-free. Just a heads up for anyone there is a 30-day return policy, but you do need to bring the bag and have your receipt (email or text works great) to avoid any hiccups. Also, Kat was there sampling the Nutri Source, and she was amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and great with the dogs. She gave me some samples and really took the time to understand what was going on with my pup. Since my dog is grain-free, she suggested possibly rotating between grain-free and grain-inclusive options, which I hadn't considered before. I ended up trying the chicken and rice recipe so we'll see how that goes! Overall, everyone there is always welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about helping you find the best for your pet. I'll definitely continue coming here
