The whole family loves this place! We get takeout from here more often than I'd like to admit it's definitely the best Chinese in the whole area. We love their Mongolian chicken, the sweet and sour chicken, general Tsos and their egg rolls are to die for!! Everything is always delicious and so well made and they're FAST! My husband was stationed at Ft. Drum from 2002-2005, and we lived in Carthage during that time. We used to get takeout from Golden Cheng all the time. Probably more often than we should have haha....it was always delicious and plentiful. Fast forward to 2021, and we returned to show our kids the old stomping grounds. We were floored (in the best way) to see our old favorite is still around! And it's still delicious and still plentiful. The fried dumplings are seriously my favorite--anywhere, ever. We've been moved all over the world since then; no dumplings have ever been as tasty as these dumplings. It was and still is a little hole-in-the-wall place. It doesn't look fancy or expensive. I absolutely love this place. We lived in Carthage six years ago when we were first stationed at Fort Drum. Golden Cheng was our go-to place for Chinese food then. After we moved, no other Chinese take-out seemed to measure up. Golden Cheng is fresh and consistent. CONSISTENCY is the key here. I know what I'm going to get when I order from there. Mainly, the General Tsao's Chicken is perfect. I have never encountered another General Tsao's with Golden Cheng's level of crunchy (not soggy) chicken and the perfect spicy tangy flavor. When we were stationed at Fort Drum again six years later, I was excited and nervous to go back to Golden Cheng--even though we now live in Philadelphia, quite a ways away. Would it have the SAME food? Was I remembering it better than it actually was? Turns out...yes. The food is exactly the same. No, I wasn't remembering it wrong. The General Tsao's Chicken really WAS that good. Now my only problem is that I will have to drive ALL THE WAY from Philly to get Golden Cheng take-out. read more

The best Chinese in the area. They only take cash or check, but they let you know on the phone so you're not caught off guard. My husband and I both got the General Tso's chicken. And while it's not the best we've ever had, it was good. Plenty of sauce, and no "mystery meat" chunks that you sometimes get with Chinese chicken. The one downside was that it was not spicy enough in our opinion. The fried rice was filled with pork and veggies, and the crab rangoon, while small, were crisp and had lots of filling. Portions are huge. A dinner size combination plate was enough to feed me, my two toddlers, and have enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. The establishment was clean and had the typical refrigerator of soda cans and water and menu pictures. Staff was very friendly. Overall, it exceeded our expectations. read more
