Picked up take-out. The dumplings looked like a newbie was making .... more shell than filling :( The fried dumplings were a hair short of burned. The Fried Rice was bland .. no soy sauce? Sorry , first time I ever ordered from there and none of the 3 things I ordered were any good. The house special fried rice was notably lacking in everything. I even picked a piece of it out of my mouth to figure what it was (pork). Shrimp with oyster sauce tasted tinny And or soapy.The house special lo mein was just barely ok. A lot went well. We went to this place on presidents day. Not sure if they were open. We saw that they were open and decided to order. The only thing they didnt have was boneless ribs but they always usually do so thats ok. We got the food and oh my gawd. They deserve a medal for putting TONS of fortune cookies! Bare bones dining area, so takeout is the way to go. The food is typical Americanized Chinese food, so No surprises, but the dishes are consistently tasty and plentiful. The menu is large and I was happy to see steamed dumplings on it. They were flavorful and well stuffed. The service is no frills and I admit I sometimes strain to understand what they are saying on the phone, but the food is hot and the orders are correct. That's a big win for me! For a small town takeout, it's a solid choice. read more

Glad we finally tried Dragon House in Lowville after living here for a year!!! The dishes were tasty with fresh vegetables that weren't over cooked, ample servings, and nice flavor. I like things a little spicier so just added my favorite spice mix. Looking forward to trying ribs and broccoli beef next time! read more

After sampling a bit more, the food across the board here is not worth a return. The dumplings have not failed us yet, however the rest of the food is mediocre at best. The beef on a stick, was unchewable and burnt. (low quality meat, poorly cooked on top of it) Entrees are just meh. When the kaz doesn't go back for seconds on chinese food, its borderline inedible. And as an added note, this place may have played the old shell game. As the rumor suggests that this is the old lowville chinese place, and just relocated and changed their name. To be honsst, I've had better, and I've had worse. This is a pretty basic chinese restaurant. The Sesame Chicken is bland, so I order the General Tso's, which isn't spicy. Their rice is actually done pretty well, though you will want to add some salt. And I like their eggrolls. But, for their own benefit, it's a low-cost Chinese food place that offers a pretty wide selection for a few bucks. I've tried places that cost less, and it's barely edible. This place is not as bad as the last reviewer said. It's certainly not as good as the places I go in Sacramento, but it is edible and quick for takeout. The shrimp with snow peas was terrific, so were the dumplings. The egg drop soup is also good. For a quick takeout dinner in lowville for a good price, you could do much worse. read more

It tastes really well, but isnt the best. The service is spotty and depends on who you get that picks up the phone. New to the area, my husband and I felt it was less greasy, less salty, and less sweet than Chinese food fare we've even through out the year at past places! My boyfriend and I have eaten here about once a month for the past four years and have never been disappointed. I dabble in a different dish each time, though the cashew chicken, the hunan beef, and the egg foo young are especially good. He prefers the sesame chicken or lo mein. Buy the lunch special which runs until 3pm each day. It's a great deal. I have been a customer of The Dragon House for multiple years now as an avid fan of Chinese food. Like others have said, the food is not the best Chinese food, but it is adequate for Lowville NY. The service is easily the worst part of this establishment and the main reason I will not be going back. I received a gift certificate (A ripped menu with $50 and some other writing on it) of $50 for the Dragon House from my family for a birthday because of how often I eat there. I used it three times to order 3 lunch specials and a can of soda, which left my balance at $31.70. Today I ordered 3 lunch specials which came out to around $17.20. Upon handing my "gift certificate" the the women who I have dealt with many times before, I was shown by her that under the $31.70 there was an "11", and that was my the balance. I am 100% sure that three lunch specials and a soda do not cost $39, but since they don't regularly give receipts, and I have never had any reason to ask for a receipt since there has never been an issue, I had no way to prove my point. I don't know what these other people are talking about, this place is seriously good. I usually get the beef and broccoli, and it's great. Everyone in my family loves it, and so does friends that come to visit. I go to college in Utica, and I've tried every single chinese restaurant there, and I still prefer Lowville's Dragon House. Give them a chance if you haven't already, completely worth it. read more
