While stationed in Fort Drum I ordered from here multiple times, usually for pick up during the lunch special. Obviously it is not a fine dine 5 star restaurant so I'm weighing my opinion on location, time, taste & service. It was always ready in timely manner, & when they needed a few more minutes they'd just ask me to wait & they'd call me, my experience was during covid times only. The taste was good especially for the price. I've gotten multiple bento boxes and they've never disappointed. Seeing there aren't many option for sushi in the location I'd recommend this place when getting a craving. Great price for lunch special they were only 8.99 & 9.99 can't beat that. read more

A caveat before I begin. This isn't New York or LA. Don't compare. But for Watertown the sushi is well prepared and fresh. I go often.

This was my go to place when I lived in NY. The staff was always friendly and helpful . The rolls were fresh and delicious. I used to order at-least once a week. I miss it. I hope this place gets lots of more customers to come. Wish them the best . read more

Not a bad sushi restaurant for Watertown. You don't have a lot of choice here, so if you want some sushi or other Japaneses food I would give this place a try. My husband and I ate here the other night for dinner. We shared two sushi rolls (Spicy Tuna, and a crunchy roll) Both were good, We also shared an order of Gozya. Very yummy, We each ordered a hibachi dinner, My husband had Shrimp and Steak, and I had chicken, It came with a nice sized salad, as well as plenty of fried rice and meat. Not a bad deal considering it is a lot cheaper then going to the actual hibachi, I have also had their bento lunch box and that is very good. read more

Not bad but not great either, just meh for our first time. Much cheaper than Ruyi though so we'll continue to order from here. Disappointed they didn't have nigiri but it is what it is. Overall, sushi was good. Didn't like that they used the minced up type fish for some rolls but Ruyi does too and charges way more for that crap so there's that. Crazy Roll was really good as well as Spice Girl. Had higher hopes for Jalepeno roll since yellowtail is my fav but didn't taste that great. Fish didn't have much flavor. Love, love, love this place. Amazing sushi. The menu is kind of small for a sushi bar, but the quality is present. I discovered this place in December after I came back off deployment. I had to have spent at least 300 dollars the first month I was back at this place. Especially after I found out that they deliver. Yes, THEY DELIVER. Not only do they make awesome sushi, they also deliver it to you in your pajamas. On top of that, in a timely manner. The restaurant itself is kind of small. It is never packed. I attributed this to it's age and the fact that a lot of people probably haven't discovered this place yet. The prices are spot on. I can say that they are cheaper than Ruyi. I would recommend this place to everyone. One more thing, the delivery guy is always so energetic and happy. Tip well. Coming from Miami, Fl and having fresh fish available at all times has spoiled me. So, I'm not quite sure what I was expecting/ I had lowered my standards. But, one of my bosses told me that she considers the sushi she has had in this town as top 3 sushi, she has ever had in her well travelled life. I wont say this is top 3 or 10 for me. If you're craving some sushi in the area, I'd avoid Sushi Express. As one of Watertown's only sushi places, the clientele is probably folks who've tried and liked sushi elsewhere and will be disappointed by Sushi Express (fits me, I grew up in Watertown before the place had any sushi at all, but I got a taste for sushi in Boston). There's a pretty aggressive use of mayonnaise and other sauces in their appetizers and rolls that's off-putting, as well as an awful lot of breading on tempura items, and even sometimes on rolls. I ordered delivery, and in the time it took for my yellowtail jalapeno appetizer (a dish I've had dozens of times elsewhere, and know I love) to arrive, whatever strong acidic component they used in the "caper sauce" fully denatured the fish, chemically cooking it and resulting in a very strong-tasting ceviche-like food that I couldn't eat. For delivery the sauce should have been served in a separate container, not already on the food. Between the mayo, sauces, and tempura breading, it's very difficult to taste the sushi. The rice here doesn't seem quite right either, far too loose and sweet for sushi rice, which should be very sticky with a hit of subtle, floral vinegar. Head down the street to 1025 Ruyi to satisfy that craving. On the other hand, if you're a local who has never tried sushi before, maybe lots of mayo and fried crunchy is exactly what you'd want. read more

They got good sushi but the place is cold and every time the door opens a breeze goes through the whole place. The drinks are served in the can, not even in a glass full of ice. I had to ask for a straw. They only have tables and chairs for dining. Most people like booths because they are more comfortable and usually make customers order more food than if they were on a regular table and chair set up. And please do something about the breeze god my through the place because I'm feel no it with the door closed. The sushi is always fresh but the rice does seem to fall apart whenever eating it. I'm not sure if it's because they put a lot of toppings and sauces on the rolls, or it's the rice. The fish is always fresh tasting compared to other restaurants in the area. However it is pretty expensive for the size of rolls that you are getting. My husband and I don't mind paying more for better quality sushi but every time we order afterwords we question whether we are going to order again. The reason for the two star rating is from our last experience. We ordered last Saturday over the phone, and I had a coupon for 10% off our order. It was $60 for 5 rolls and an order of udon noodles, when the cashier rang me up I told her I had a coupon and she said my total went down to $50. Not bad I was thinking and then she ran my card. However, an older man ( I assume to be the owner) then called me back twice stating that the cashier gave me the wrong price and he was going to adjust the amount my credit card was charged. I argued that I gave my card info for that amount and it's not my fault the cashier made a mistake. He then threatened to charge my card no matter what and he wouldn't stop after two harassing phone calls until I said I was going to file a claim with my bank if he charged more. End of the story he made a really big deal over $5 and it wasn't even my fault. I don't think we will be ordering again anytime soon. read more

I just ordered for delivery over 70$ worth of food and it was bad. Do not order from here. Waste of money and time. Quick summary of what I ordered: Cucumber salad-came with a weird mayo sauce and panko bread crumbs and was spicy????cucumbers were limp and warm... Gross. Last times I had cucumber salad was crisp cold and had a vinegar flavor. Refreshing and clean. This had ZERO of those things. Maybe a description would have clarified it on the menu before I order such things. Egg rolls-ok but cold and chewy. 2 eel Sushi pieces---not good not delicate and tender. Rubbery fishy hard and cold 2 salmon sushi pieces (I ordered sashimi but got sushi)- bland and too thin almost transparent I want fish not paper thin fish on a large very hard ball of rice... The rainbow roll was bland Naruto roll was ok but over 10$ for 5 pieces is too steep. Then I ordered two tempura rolls for my hubby who isn't a huge sushi fan. One was terrible and one was pretty good. I'm not even sure if it was that good but in comparison to terrible it stood out. Ordered the teriyaki chicken dinner for my daughter and her chicken was incredibly hard. Very hard to chew. Not sure if it was pre cooked and then tossed with sauce when ordered? Honestly I'm so extremely disappointed and I feel like I just flushed money down the toilet. Things that were supposed to be cold were placed on top of the hot things. Everything was the opposite of how it was supposed to be. I could go on and on, to top it off it took over an hour and a half to get delivered with no phone call. They told me on the phone it would be 15 mins to an hour. So I'm thinking an hour tops.. After an hour and 10 mins I called them to see if they forgot about us or if the driver had even left. I really wanted to cancel the whole order. But I've worked in many restaurants and I just couldn't bring myself to do that. She said he left 10 mins ago. Well it only takes 10 mins to get to my house....then he showed up 20 mins after my phone call so she probably lied to me and she said her excuse was they were very busy. I ordered at 5pm.... I'm sure He hadn't left yet. He told me when he got here they were busy and had to make the things by hand. Well....yeah....don't know where you go and have rolls pre made? Anyway. Steer clear. My girlfriend and I have eaten here several times over the past couple of years. Normally we don't repeat restaurants too often but we enjoy the sushi here. We've been to several sushi places to include some upscale ones but this is one of our favorite places. The quality of the fish they use is surprisingly decent. Whilst getting some Chinese food ( next door to them) we decided to give them a try ( we often go down the street to the ichiban ) ordered a rainbow roll, cost was reasonable, about 10$. Im not sure about their rice, our roll kinda fell apart when we were eating it, but the fish was fresh, and the avocado was nice as well. I've eaten here 10-12 times with my girlfriend. She said she didn't like sushi, since she wouldn't eat raw fish. I had to show her that a lot of Sushi is cooked and very good. Now she loves this place and now knows that she likes Sushi. Try the Watertown Roll, which is cooked. They have quite a few cooked rolls which even people who think they don't like Sushi would be hard pressed to not like. If you like Shrimp you should like some Sushi. Shrimp, Crab, Lobster, Squid are all cooked foods in most if not all Sushi. I have tried most all their rolls and have yet to find one I didn't like. They charged me a $6 delivery fee. And there's a minimum total for delivery. What's the point of having a minimum if you're going to charge me $6 for it anyway. I asked them if they were the same as the one in Evans mills and they said yes but then when I asked her again she said no. She directly lied to me and I tried to cancel my order not even five minutes later she said the food was all ready so I couldn't and then asked me if that was okay.
