Last night, we placed an order for 2 meals and paid for 2 extra sides. We ordered green beans, dirty rice, Mac n cheese, and coleslaw. We only got green beans and mac n cheese. We also ordered the 2pc fried chicken and the chicken tender combos. The chicken in both meals were underdone. You could tell by the texture they were slightly raw. Mixed 8-piece Chicken was delicious!. Also ordered 6 Wicked Wings (Wicked), but got plain 'Wicked' wings with lots of packets of Lotta Zing spicy seasoning. Not what we expected. Sides, okra and Cole slaw, were huge disappointments. Both were bland. Neither tasted as if it had any salt. Cole slaw had no acid (vinegar) or sweetness (sugar). Not sure how it was dressed, but there was no flavor. Bummer. read more

It was my first time trying it and I was looking forward to have it! I ordered online to get delivered, and it actually took shorter than the estimate time, which was great! Chicken came warm, and fries was a bit soggy, but expected for delivery. What made me sad was that it was missing one of my item, the wicked wings, and a few condiment that I requested. I tried to contact the restaurant but off course it doesn't connect to any person, so I just have to give up on that. Little disappointed. Chicken was pretty nice, not the best. This is my go-to chicken fingers restaurant. The window people are great, they allow 2 sides in the meal box instead of 1 side and drink, thier prices are excellent, their new zing sauce is the boss, and they throw and extra piece in almost every time. Dusty the manager and the team at Golden Chick Oak Hill are the most helpful and customer service oriented fast food store in the area. Move over Chick-fil-A here comes Golden Chick Oak Hill! The restrooms are always spotless and the drive-thru order is super fast. They recently added fried shrimp to the menu with fish which is extra yummy! The kids absolutely love it and they have 20 fried shrimp for just $15. The catfish is not too bad either. Definitely pick up a side of coleslaw to go with it read more

This was my first time at a Golden Chick. I love fried chicken, so I definitely had to try their wicked wings with the lotta zing spice. Food was actually great. I loved the wings. The batter was seasoned. The chicken was juicy. The lotta zing spice wasn't extremely spicy and had a great taste. The mashed potatoes were normal, similar to kfc's. My issue was the items forgotten in my order. I ordered online and picked up in the drive thru. The person working the window was nice. I ordered two gravy's on the side and 2 of the lotta zing sauce (extra charge for the sauce). I didn't receive those at all. Also on the kids meal, you can choose either a fried leg or a roasted leg. I chose roasted because my niece has an egg allergy, and I saw on their nutritional info that the battered chicken items had egg, so I didn't want to risk it. Well I receive a fried leg instead. I live about 25 mins away, so it definitely bothered me that my niece only had mashed potatoes without gravy to eat. Yes I should have checked the bag before leaving, but I just thought I could trust the workers to give me the items that I ordered. Golden Chick is a great drive-thru after church place. Their chicken tenders are quality, and all of the veggies we've tried are just like homemade. I love the little corn nuggets. Top 'em any way you want with options like cream gravy, honey, or hot sauce. The crinkle cut fries are superb; but the real star of the sides is the dirty rice. Pappadeaux and your Cajun grandmother can't match the flavor on this dish; total bliss in my book. Enter little Rooster who I have the pleasure of teaching the difference between chicken strips and nuggets. I admit its a tough sell but I'm committed to this challenge. He will not under estimate the power of the strip. The staff especially the owners are genuine and care about your dining experience. I passed this place so often and always said "I kind of want to try Golden Chick" every time. However, because it is a simple fast food place, it took a while to actually stop in and give it a try. Boy do I regret procrastinating! The food here is so delicious! The staff was nice, but a little confused on what we were asking for (just the tenders, not the combo). Perhaps it was the combination of it being our first time ordering and it being only an hour away from their closing time. Either way, we made it through the confusion and got our meal. The tenders were hot and juicy and the honey mustard was perfection. The rolls! Oh my goodness, the rolls! They were an unexpected treat! So soft, so buttery, so delicious! I would probably go back JUST to eat those rolls again. The fries were pretty standard, definitely not the star of the meal, but still good. I was not a fan of the tv, which seemed like a weirdly loud after thought that no one was actually paying attention to. For such a small inside dining area it seemed a bit too overbearing. It may not be the cheapest fried chicken in the world, but I still appreciate the quality of it. And although the prices have risen in the past year, the food is still as good as it ever was. Why someone would complain bitterly about the cost of chicken here, and then drive nearly 60 miles round trip from Oak Hill to Cedar Park under the pretense of getting cheaper fast food is beyond me. That trip alone costs around $30--and that doesn't include the chicken! I can buy a lot of good chicken here for that much. Personally, not sure I would run back here for the chicken, but almost everything else I really liked a lot. The catfish is excellent. This is southern style catfish with a light cornmeal crust -- my favorite. Chicken was juicy, but had a lot of breading that wasn't really crisp - a bit greasy for my tastes. Very meaty pieces though and to be fair, my husband loved it. He thought the chicken was perfect. The only sides we tried were the cole slaw and mac and cheese. We both loved the mac and cheese -- great quality, noodles weren't mushy at all and the cheese had a nice sharp taste. The cole slaw was a little mayonaisy/sweet for me, but my husband thought it was perfect. He thinks I like my slaw too dry. Yeast rolls were great and buttery. Other sides are fried okra, green beans, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Too bad they don't have greens. I would love a nice southern style plate with cornmeal fried catfish, greens and mac and cheese. Why can't you find that in Austin?? Everyone was very nice there, too. read more

I had ordered through Uber eats, I got one drink after ordering two drinks and a drink that I got is full of ice and hardly any soda at all. You guys need to put a comment section on Uber eats to say light ice no ice or extra ice. Pretty sad when you take three sips and your drink is gone because it's full of ice. Not a happy camper. I seriously can't believe I'm giving a four start review to a sketchy looking drive thru fast food restaurant with "fried catfish" as the special...but here we are. We were driving around looking for a place to grab a bite in the neighborhood. Golden Chick had no line and we had no time, so we strolled on through. I got a salad with chicken tenders. They used real Romain lettuce (none of the cheap iceberg) with super fresh carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes. The tenders came on the side and boy were they good! Think a batter that is somewhere in between tempura and traditional fried chicken. It had a nice crispy, light batter on the outside without lots of grease...keeping the chicken moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. My man and I were in shock. We both are fussy when it comes to fried chicken, and we both have it glowing reviews. Tenders are the way to go. Don't let the sketchy exterior fool you. This place is on point. read more

T22, Gus' and sometimes Lucy's have maybe a little better fried chicken but if you're talking fast food and VALUE, GC IS the standard. I'm never disappointed ordering here.
