I've been craving a real Italian sub for quite a while and being only a short ride from Tucci's this week it was time to check em out. Spoiler alert Tucci's is the real deal. Their cold cuts are high quality and their freshly delicious bread is suppled by the New World Bakery. The chains do a good job but it's like comparing an Altima to a Porche. For my inaugural visit I ordered the Gourmet Italian. This seven inch sandwich was stuffed with prosciutto, deluxe ham, capicola, Genoa salami, provolone, and finished with oil, vinegar, and oregano. I deleted the lettuce and mayo. Bonus points for not asking me if I wanted it toasted! Molto bene! Plus one ordered the meatball sub. This was another winner that was surprisingly spicy. The marinara sauce tastes as advertised "home made". The meatballs were moist and fabulously tender. Tucci's does have daily specials and I can hear the Philly Cheese Steak sub calling my name for my next visit. If you live in the area traffic is a mess but it's worth it to visit this East Coast Sub Shop. read more

On the manager's recommendation, I tried the gourmet Italian sandwich, all the way on white bread today. I was not disappointed, this is hands-down the best cold sub I've ever had in my life! Last minute came here for food on our way out of Austin. They are located in the strip mall with tons of places, and near Jim's restaurant. Walked in, clean enough. Quick to order, got their special. Good deal, good food. Our toddler said the grilled cheese was spicy. read more

Very slow, quite expensive... REGARDLESS, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a homemade meatball sub! Being an italian yankee, I should never get my hopes up on italian Texas food. The sauce and meat were so spicy I literally threw it in the trash after the first bite! 5 stars!!!!! We came in for a quick bite and ended up having a full blown flavor experience. We tried the meatball sub and the Italian beef holy f*ck, both were delicious! So good we forgot to take pictures lol The meatball sub? Saucy, cheesy, messy in the best way possible. Every bite was rich and comforting. The Italian beef? Tuccis in Oak Hill is terrible. I was excited to finally to try it only to get a 15 dollar dried up Tuna sandwhich- not going back there. Rude service- my dogs wouldn't even eat sandwich- they scooted it around the floor. Bat happening again- save your money for better things. read more

Welp, I've been going to Tucci's (mostly the William Cannon location) for many years now, dating back to early 2000's. When I discovered them I was so happy with their quality, their portions, and Boarshead meat - wow. You got a respectable amount of meat - even though they were slightly higher priced than usual - it was worth it. My go-to's have been the Italian, sometimes the Fried Bologna, and that Grandma's Hot Ham and Swiss. I think I've had the Philly Cheesesteak before - it was good but lacking in steak. That Italian is always loaded with nice slices of meat - a real sandwich! On my past few visits I've been rather disappointed. The taste and the quality are still there, but the Grandma's Ham & Swiss has now shrunk from a sandwich to a slider. See my pic - my hands are not NBA-sized, yet I can completely cover up this sandwich. I mean - like 4 bites and you're done. Never used to be able to do that. Plus there is hardly any ham inside, it's sliced super thin, and it costs more now - - as good as it tastes it's just not worth the exuberant price. This is so very disappointing. The Italian Gourmet has held up. Quality still good, get enough meat in there, I asked for extra onions and lettuce and sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. So I do highl;y recommend that. The Fried Bologna - oh geez - that's a cheap meat and the meat portion of what we got was really meager. This think used to be a big solid sandwich, but not anymore. It's like you get mostly bread when you bite into it, the bologna is a secondary item. We've had this many times before in the past and the last 2 here have been so disappointing. The Philly Cheesesteak - same theme as the Fried Bologna and Ham n Swiss - - lacking the main ingredient, the cheesesteak. I mean you bite into this and it's like the bread is the main ingredient here. So ridiculous, so disappointing. Because the portions are so minute now, and prices have increased, we don't go back here anymore - not nearly as much as we used to. I mean we used to eat their sandwiches at least 3-4x a month, sometimes more. Now? Maybe once every 3 months, and when I get the mood for that Italian - I'll go back for that. But we'll skip on the Bologna, the Cheesesteak, and the Grandma's Ham n Swiss. They've cut the meat portions down so much you're just eating warm bread. read more

If you're looking for something different than your typical chain sandwich shop or fast food, this is your place! I ordered the Tucci's turkey, toasted. The vegetables were all very fresh, but my favorite thing was definitely the Cajun season turkey breast. I only wish that I had ordered double meat, but if you've read any of my other reviews, I'm definitely a meat lover. I love a great submarine sandwich and I was determined to make it out to try Tucci's Southside Subs. Service was slow but the sandwiches were worth the wait. The subs are on the pricier side, but they are stuffed with premium deli meat, fresh veggies and Tucci's own " mayonnaise based special sauce." This was such a great local sub/ sandwich shop! We flew in from out of town and was recommended to try them out for a quick lunch. It was perfect! When we pulled up it was in the middle of a strip mall with a small sign out side. It was at that moment we knew this was going to be a good spot! Dried out flaky ..like it's old frozen bread they tried to thaw out or yesterdays bread they left sitting on the counter. I've gone back 3 or 4 times thinking it was just a bad batch. We got the pastrami and the gourmet Italian. The pastrami was good, the Italian was messy and mediocre. The service and ambiance were regular for a sub shop. The biggest disappointment was actually the chips. $5 a pop for a mini bag, which put the total for our lunch at about $40. This place gets a no from me. read more

Parking is easy and service is quick.... The hot sandwiches are the bomb. My favorites are Grandma Max's hot ham and swiss, Tucci's Turkey, the Cuban, and of course the Philly Cheese Steak with jalapenos! There are usually some cool jams in the background and the guys working in there always have a good vibe going that's kind of more of a coffee house feel. Very solid Philly with mild heat! I love a great Philly. Thinly sliced beef, flavored with onion, mushroom, pepper, and cheese on a chewy loaf, then toasted to melty perfection. I had no idea such a solid Philly existed on the west side, but so glad to have found Tucci's while heading home from The Natural Gardener. The jalapeño Philly was perfectly chewy and salty- Just enough so to scratch my sandwich itch- with a mild heat that I loved. The peppers were sliced in long strips, which I don't particularly prefer vs smaller chopped pieces, but they were flavorful nonetheless. Overall, glad to have found a low key, tasty, Italian sandwich joint on the fringe of the Westlake food desert- I had lost hope I could find something so satisfying on this side of town, but my hope has been revived. read more

Ate here for lunch while waiting for my wife to finish a nearby appointment. I got a large club sandwich with an iced tea. With the tip, it was a bit over $28. Kinda high right? Well, the sandwich was pretty enormous and the meat was plentiful. I didn't order it quite right because I didn't like the peppers that it came with. Not bell peppers (which I love) but some sort of spicy pickled pepper. That was my bad. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the sandwich. The music they played was pretty odd. I don't know what genre to call it but it was a high energy instrumental music like what a fitness gym would play for the aerobic workout area. Not very pleasant to listen to during a meal. The worst part was that they closed while I was still eating. Seems like most places would let you finish your meal but it was 10 minutes after closing so I was asked (politely enough) to please leave. I donno -- I just didn't enjoy my time here nearly as much as other sub sandwich shops and the cost was too much for a mediocre experience. I think I'll avoid eating here. read more
