Have always been pleased with the chicken dishes we order. Have ordered the beef and mix veggies and although the taste was good, did not have much beef. Tried the large Mongolian beef last night and 99% of the dish was white onions. There wasn't even enough beef for pieces for everyone to share. This place is such a gem. We went in 30 mins until close by mistake but the worker was more than happy to get our food to us. She was very friendly and talked to us while we waited. The best Chinese food around. Everything is cooked to order and perfectly seasoned. The employees are extremely friendly and welcoming. If you find any problem with your food just let them know and they will make it right. The newest owners ( last 2 yrs) used to own Great Wall in Emerald Isle. Don't go by the old reviews posted. My husband and I decided to give China Palace a try, so we placed a "take out order" and here are our reviews: Sorry, but the Egg Rolls were AWFUL!!! They had NO TASTE whatsoever!!! The Crab Rangoons were also AWFUL!!! They were extremely watery, and we could NOT taste ANY crabmeat whatsoever!!! Now the Roast Pork LoMein was thoroughly DEEELICIOUS!!! The most mouth watering, flavorful dish we had in a long time! We absolutely enjoyed it and we thank you for making such an exquisite dish! This place needs to have their reviews reset or something; 3.5 stars has them dramatically underrated, and if you sort to see the negative ones, you will see that they are all from years ago, before the current owners took over. I have been coming here for a while and can say that not only do they have easily the best food in Carteret County, but they are very consistent as well; I have literally not had a single complaint about any meal I've gotten from here, and given how many times I have been, that is mind-boggling. Everybody makes mistakes sometimes, but these folks seem to be the exception to that rule. They have the only actual spicy food that I have found in all of North Carolina; I recommend the General Tso's chicken, just tell them to make it as spicy as they can because they vary it to taste. The lady that works the counter is super friendly and always willing to answer any questions or provide suggestions. Even during the busiest part of their lunch rush, I have never had my food take more than 15 minutes to get out, despite the fact that they are using all fresh ingredients and no warmers. From the counter, you have a clear view of the entire kitchen area, which is somehow always perfectly spotless and shiny, no matter how many meals are being cooked. Lobby is also always kept nice and clean. I cannot recommend this place enough, it is my absolute favorite lunch spot. read more

They failed the basic test I give for every take out Chinese place; How is the General Tso Chicken? It was aweful, sauce was all wrong and it tasted like it was coated with funnel cake batter. The egg roll was not crispy at all which was disappointing. Service was good and staff was friendly. I have been to Golden China several times since I returned here after being gone for 14 years. I've been to China Town, New York and have enjoyed Chinese in many different Cities at many different restaurants.One miss conception is that all Chinese is exactly alike, is very far from the truth. It depends on what part of China the cooks are from and family traditions in cooking. In my opinion which is no more important than any others because it's just an opinion, is made with care in a clean, safe environment. All-in-all I find Golden China delightful. The lady that has taken my order on several occasions makes me feel welcome and even somew important. I've rambled enough. Golden China located in eastern North Carolina features some of the best flavors for the Far East. The service is kind and upbeat. The food is prepared fresh and quick but not too quickly. Correctly seasoned and properly prepared the dishes when served out look just as you would imagine after seeing them displayed on the menu or on the images in the restaurant. It is a nice place to eat in and there is no hurrying by management or staff. In the room itself is one of the most impressive images of China I have ever seen. It is view seen from a park somewhere in China. It is on a riverbank and the view is up a long and beautifully forested valley. On the one side of the river is a relatively modern park with people dressed in contemporary clothes. On the far bank is a large temple or fort or some other ancient building. All along the far bank appears to be landings for trade. It is a beautiful and most unexpected sight to see. It is always a pleasure to order here in person. I prefer it rather than over the phone, which can also be easily done. There's just something about being there. Enjoy the food! I especially like the Teriyaki Beef and the Crab Rangoon! I'd have to relate every item on the menu to express to you how much I enjoy meals from this location! read more

We eat there all the time. This time we called in food during national Corona Virus COVID-19 outbreak. Asked if they offered curbside pick however instructed us to come inside if we wanted any soy/duck/sweetnsour sauces. Woman on the phone refused to include requested sauces with a concise "No." When asked why she can't just reach over and get them we got the same response verbatim; "no" basically in a "get them yourself" tone of voice so we cancelled our order promptly by hanging up. read more

Food quality had declined in recent years. Also, they don't seem interested in customer service. A recent order was missing egg drop soup. When I asked him about it, he argued with me instead of just offering to give me the soup. I was billed for it, but didn't want to argue with him so I left. I'm giving one star because Yelp does not allow negative numbers. We are new to the area and have tried this restaurant's takeout three times. Each time the food has become worse, along with the people's attitude... This last time, I'd order "hot and spicy chicken", which should have been named "nothing but onions". My wife ordered, "beef lomein" which should have named "nothing but noodles". Each time we've ate their food, we have had very upset stomachs the day to follow (sorry). Complaining to these people is a waste of your time, the more I complained the less they understood. I can't believe they have remained in business, maybe the lack of near-by competition. I'll drive the extra distance to Swansboro from this point on. You gotta love this place.... The tofu broccoli entree is what I get and I always ask for it to be extra spicey. I remember back in the day... the owner would bring his young children to work. They were the most adorable chubby-cheeked babies you would ever see. The oddest thing though, is that they would allow the kids to nap in the dining area on a makeshift bed made of two beach chairs pushed together and a few blankets. I got so many laughs over that. The children are older now, so I'm sure that never happens, but it was the best thing ever when it did. read more

They have very good prices, portion sizes large enough to take some home, .50 for water not something I would want to pay for. My husband says their sesame chicken is the best he has ever had, it was amaizing, my lomein was very delicious. People were friendly and I would come back again. read more

Really, this place is just ok. The food is good and it's cheap. But the service is lacking a bit. My husband and I have been getting takeout here for years but last time may have been the last time for good. Maybe they're under new management or ownership? I don't know. I walked in last night to grab our dinner and wasn't even acknowledged. There was an employee eating her dinner up front, and I get that she was taking a break, but she didn't even look up at me. She could've at least said, "Someone will be with you in a minute" or something. But I stood there and waited for almost five minutes before one of the guys came up from the back and helped me. Golden China has your usual selection of Chinese Fast Food. Anything deep fried will come out crispy and delicious. Their dumplings were the best. Choose between steamed and fried. The dumplings came with a homemade dipping sauce. I wish these chinese restaurants would carry less items and make the few better standouts but that seems to be the norm for Eastern North Carolina. read more

I'll start the review with my initial impression of the restaurant-- 'uninspiring'. The restaurant is not designed to welcome eat-in customers. it is barren and industrial. The tables were none too clean, and the self-service utensils and condiment station was messy and dirty. Our family ordered an assortment of food. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour. The drop soup was slimy and did not taste like eggs. (Too much cornstarch and not enough broth.) We ordered sweet-and-sour chicken, lo mein, Kung-pao chicken, and General Tso's chicken. The lo mein was extremely greasy, and had 80% noodles and 15% vegetables a few small shreds of chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was terrible. It came with an uninspired nuclear-orange sugary sauce in a plastic cup. The Kung Po chicken was the best out of the four. It at least was A little bit spicy and had some elements of flavor. The General Tso chicken was over-fried and flavorless--mediocre at best. I would NOT go back to this restaurant. Although they were quick and worked hard at the food, this restaurant is a good example of "ethnic does not always equal yummy".
